2 Samuel 18
1 And he mustered David the people which [was] with him and he appointed over them commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds.
Und David musterte das Volk, das bei ihm war, und setzte über sie Oberste über tausend und Oberste über hundert.
2 And he sent out David the people the third [was] in [the] hand of Joab and the third [was] in [the] hand of Abishai [the] son of Zeruiah [the] brother of Joab and the third [was] in [the] hand of Ittai the Gittite. And he said the king to the people certainly I will go out also I with you.
Und David entsandte das Volk: ein Drittel unter der Hand Joabs und ein Drittel unter der Hand Abisais, des Sohnes der Zeruja, des Bruder Joabs, und ein Drittel unter der Hand Ittais, des Gathiters. Und der König sprach zu dem Volke: Auch ich werde gewißlich mit euch ausziehen.
3 And it said the people not you must go out for if certainly [if] we will flee not they will set to us heart and if they will die half of us not they will set to us heart for now like us ten thousand and therefore [is] good that you will be us from [the] city (to help. *Qk)
Aber das Volk sprach: Du sollst nicht ausziehen; denn wenn wir fliehen müßten, so würden sie nicht auf uns den Sinn richten; und wenn die Hälfte von uns stürbe, so würden sie nicht auf uns den Sinn richten; denn du bist wie unser zehntausend. So ist es nun besser, daß du uns von der Stadt aus zum Beistande bist.
4 And he said to them the king [that] which it will be good in eyes your I will do and he stood the king to [the] side of the gate and all the people they went out to hundreds and to thousands.
Und der König sprach zu ihnen: Was gut ist in euren Augen, will ich tun. Und der König stellte sich an die Seite des Tores, und alles Volk zog aus zu [O. nach] Hunderten und zu [O. nach] Tausenden.
5 And he commanded the king Joab and Abishai and Ittai saying to gentleness for me to the young man to Absalom and all the people they heard when commanded the king all the commanders on [the] matter of Absalom.
Und der König gebot Joab und Abisai und Ittai und sprach: Verfahret mir gelinde mit dem Jüngling, mit Absalom! Und alles Volk hörte es, als der König allen Obersten wegen Absaloms gebot.
6 And it went out the people the field to meet Israel and it was the battle in [the] forest of Ephraim.
Und das Volk zog aus ins Feld, Israel entgegen; und die Schlacht fand statt im Walde Ephraim.
7 And they were defeated there [the] people of Israel before [the] servants of David and it was there the slaughter great on the day that twenty thousand.
Und das Volk von Israel wurde daselbst vor den Knechten Davids geschlagen, und die Niederlage wurde daselbst groß an jenem Tage: 20000 Mann.
8 And it was there the battle (scattered *Qk) over [the] face of all the land and it increased the forest to consume among the people more than [those] whom it consumed the sword on the day that.
Und die Schlacht breitete sich daselbst aus über das ganze Land; und der Wald fraß mehr unter dem Volke, als das Schwert an jenem Tage fraß.
9 And he was met Absalom before [the] servants of David and Absalom [was] riding on the mule and it went the mule under [the] branche[s] of the oak great and it was firm head his in the oak and he was put between the heavens and between the earth and the mule which [was] under him it passed on.
Und Absalom stieß auf die Knechte Davids; und Absalom ritt auf einem Maultier, und das Maultier kam unter die verschlungenen Zweige einer großen Terebinthe; und er blieb mit dem Haupte an der Terebinthe hangen, und schwebte zwischen Himmel und Erde; das Maultier aber, das unter ihm war, lief davon.
10 And he saw a man one and he told to Joab and he said there! I saw Absalom hung up in the oak.
Und ein Mann sah es und berichtete es Joab und sprach: Siehe, ich habe Absalom an einer Terebinthe hangen sehen.
11 And he said Joab to the man who had told to him and there! you saw and why? not did you strike down him there [the] ground towards and on me to give to you ten silver and a belt one.
Da sprach Joab zu dem Manne, der es ihm berichtete: Siehe, wenn du ihn gesehen hast, warum hast du ihn nicht daselbst zu Boden geschlagen? und an mir war es, dir zehn Sekel Silber und einen Gürtel zu geben.
12 And he said the man to Joab (and if *Qk) I [were] weighing on hands my a thousand silver not I will stretch out hand my against [the] son of the king for in ears our he commanded the king you and Abishai and Ittai saying protect whoever the young man Absalom.
Aber der Mann sprach zu Joab: Und wenn ich tausend Sekel Silber auf meinen Händen wöge, würde ich meine Hand nicht nach des Königs Sohn ausstrecken; denn vor unseren Ohren hat der König dir und Abisai und Ittai geboten und gesagt: Seid vorsichtig, wer es auch sei, mit dem [O. Nehmet in acht den] Jüngling mit Absalom!
13 Or I had done (on life my *QK) falsehood and any thing not it is hidden from the king and you you will stand from in front.
Hätte ich aber trüglich gegen sein Leben gehandelt, -und es bleibt ja keine Sache vor dem König verborgen-so würdest du [And. l.: Oder ich hätte trüglich gehandelt gegen mein Leben; denn es bleibt und du würdest usw.] selbst wider mich auftreten. [Eig. dich auf die gegenüberliegende Seite stellen]
14 And he said Joab not thus I will wait before you and he took three spears in hand his and he thrust them in [the] heart of Absalom still he [was] alive in [the] heart of the oak.
Da sprach Joab: Ich mag nicht also vor dir warten. Und er nahm drei Spieße in seine Hand und stieß sie in das Herz Absaloms, während er noch inmitten der Terebinthe lebte.
15 And they surrounded [him] ten young men [the] bearers of [the] armor of Joab and they struck Absalom and they killed him.
Und zehn Knaben, Waffenträger Joabs, umgaben und erschlugen Absalom und töteten ihn.
16 And he gave a blast Joab on the trumpet and it turned back the people from pursuing after Israel for he restrained Joab the people.
Und Joab stieß in die Posaune, und das Volk kehrte um von der Verfolgung Israels; denn Joab hielt das Volk ab. [O. schonte das Volk]
17 And they took Absalom and they threw him in the forest into the pit great and they set up over him a heap of stones great very and all Israel they fled each (to tents his. *QK)
Und sie nahmen Absalom und warfen ihn in eine [And.: die] große Grube im Walde, und errichteten über ihm einen sehr großen Haufen Steine. Und ganz Israel floh, ein jeder nach seinem Zelte.
18 And Absalom he had taken and he had set up for himself (in life his *Qk) a pillar which [is] in [the] valley of the king for he said not [belongs] to me a son in order to cause to be remembered name my and he called the pillar on own name his and it has been called to it [the] monument of Absalom until the day this.
Absalom aber hatte bei seinen Lebzeiten eine Denksäule genommen und sich aufgerichtet, die im Königstale steht; denn er sprach: Ich habe keinen Sohn, um meinen Namen in Erinnerung zu halten. Und er hatte die Denksäule nach seinem Namen genannt; und man nennt sie das Denkmal Absaloms, bis auf diesen Tag.
19 And Ahimaaz [the] son of Zadok he said let me run please and let me bear [the] news to the king that he has vindicated him Yahweh from [the] hand of enemies his.
Und Achimaaz, der Sohn Zadoks, sprach: Ich will doch hinlaufen und dem König Botschaft bringen, daß Jehova ihm Recht verschafft hat von der Hand [Eig. von der Hand weg, d. h. durch Befreiung aus derselben; so auch v 31] seiner Feinde.
20 And he said to him Joab not [are] a man of news you day this and you will bear news on a day another and day this not you will bear [the] news for (since *QK) [the] son of the king he has died.
Aber Joab sprach zu ihm: Du sollst nicht Bote sein an diesem Tage, sondern du magst an einem anderen Tage Botschaft bringen; doch an diesem Tage sollst du nicht Botschaft bringen, da ja der Sohn des Königs tot ist.
21 And he said Joab to the Cushite go tell to the king [that] which you have seen and he bowed down [the] Cushite to Joab and he ran.
Und Joab sprach zu dem Kuschiten: Gehe hin, berichte dem König, was du gesehen hast. Und der Kuschit beugte sich nieder vor Joab und lief hin.
22 And he repeated again Ahimaaz [the] son of Zadok and he said to Joab and may it be whatever let me run please also I after the Cushite and he said Joab why? this [are] you running O son my and [will belong] to you not good news finding.
Da sprach Achimaaz, der Sohn Zadoks, wiederum zu Joab: Was auch geschehen möge, laß doch auch mich hinter dem Kuschiten herlaufen! Und Joab sprach: Warum willst du denn laufen, mein Sohn, da für dich keine einträgliche Botschaft da ist? -
23 And may it be whatever I will run and he said to him run and he ran Ahimaaz [the] way of the plain and he passed by the Cushite.
Was auch geschehen möge, ich will laufen. -Und er sprach zu ihm: Laufe! Und Achimaaz lief den Weg des Jordankreises und kam dem Kuschiten zuvor.
24 And David [was] sitting between [the] two the gates and he went the watchman to [the] roof of the gate to the wall and he lifted up eyes his and he saw and there! a man [was] running to only him.
Und David saß zwischen den beiden Toren; und der Wächter ging auf das Dach des Tores, auf die Mauer, und er erhob seine Augen und sah, und siehe, ein Mann, der allein lief.
25 And he called out the watchman and he told to the king and he said the king if to only him news [is] in mouth his and he came continuously and approaching.
Und der Wächter rief und berichtete es dem König. Und der König sprach: Wenn er allein ist, so ist eine Botschaft in seinem Munde. Und er kam stets näher und näher.
26 And he saw the watchman a man another running and he called out the watchman to the gatekeeper and he said there! a man [is] running to only him and he said the king also this one [is] bearing news.
Da sah der Wächter einen anderen Mann laufen; und der Wächter rief dem Torhüter zu [And. l.: gegen das Tor hin] und sprach: Siehe, ein Mann, der allein läuft! Und der König sprach: Auch dieser ist ein Bote.
27 And he said the watchman I [am] seeing [the] running of the first [one] like [the] running of Ahimaaz [the] son of Zadok and he said the king [is] a man good this and with news good he is coming.
Und der Wächter sprach: Ich sehe den Lauf des ersten an für den Lauf des Achimaaz, des Sohnes Zadoks. Und der König sprach: Das ist ein guter Mann, und er kommt zu guter Botschaft.
28 And he called out Ahimaaz and he said to the king peace and he bowed down to the king to face his [the] ground towards. And he said blessed [be] Yahweh God your who he has delivered up the men who they lifted up hand their against lord my the king.
Und Achimaaz rief und sprach zu dem König: Friede! [O. Heil] Und er beugte sich vor dem König auf sein Antlitz zur Erde nieder und sprach: Gepriesen sei Jehova, dein Gott, der die Männer überliefert hat, die ihre Hand erhoben haben wider meinen Herrn, den König!
29 And he said the king [does] peace? [belong] to the young man to Absalom and he said Ahimaaz I saw the multitude great to send [the] servant of the king Joab and servant your and not I know whatever.
Und der König sprach: Geht es dem Jüngling, dem Absalom, wohl? Und Achimaaz sprach: Ich sah ein großes Getümmel, als Joab den Knecht des Königs und deinen Knecht absandte; aber ich weiß nicht, was es war.
30 And he said the king go around stand thus and he went around and he stood.
Und der König sprach: Wende dich, stelle dich hierher. Und er wandte sich und blieb stehen.
31 And here! the Cushite [was] coming and he said the Cushite let him receive [the] news lord my the king for he has vindicated you Yahweh this day from [the] hand of all those [who] rose up on you.
Und siehe, der Kuschit kam, und der Kuschit sprach: Mein Herr, der König, lasse sich die Botschaft bringen, daß Jehova dir heute Recht verschafft hat von der Hand aller, die wider dich aufgestanden sind.
32 And he said the king to the Cushite ¿ [does] peace [belong] to the young man to Absalom and he said the Cushite let them be like the young man [the] enemies of lord my the king and all [those] who they have risen up on you for harm.
Und der König sprach zu dem Kuschiten: Geht es dem Jüngling, dem Absalom, wohl? Und der Kuschit sprach: Wie dem Jüngling, so möge es den Feinden des Königs, meines Herrn, ergehen und allen, die wider dich aufgestanden sind zum Bösen!
33 And he was agitated the king and he went up to [the] upper room of the gate and he wept and thus - he said when went he O son my Absalom son my son my Absalom who? will he give died I I in place of you O Absalom son my son my.
Da wurde der König sehr bewegt, und er stieg hinauf in das Obergemach des Tores und weinte; und während er ging, sprach er also: Mein Sohn Absalom! mein Sohn, mein Sohn Absalom! wäre ich doch an deiner Statt gestorben! Absalom, mein Sohn, mein Sohn!
