Joshua 16
1 Then came out the lot, for the sons of Joseph, from the Jordan by Jericho, at the waters of Jericho, eastward, —the desert, going up from Jericho, through the hill country to Bethel;
Den landsluten som fall på Josefs-sønerne, tok til aust med Jordanåi, der ho renn frammed Jeriko, og gjekk um Jerikokjelda gjenom øydemarki som stig frå Jeriko uppyver fjellet til Betel.
2 and it goeth out from Bethel towards Luz, —and passeth over unto the boundary of the Archites at Ataroth;
Frå Betel heldt bytestrengen fram til Luz, og gjekk so burtyver til Arkiteigni, til Atarot;
3 and descendeth westward, unto the boundary of the Japhletites, as far as the boundary of Bethhoron the nether, and as far as Gezer, —and the extensions thereof are to the sea.
der tok han vestetter ned til Jafletiteigni, heldt fram til Nedre Bet-Horoneigni og Gezer, og enda utmed havet.
4 So the sons of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, received their inheritance.
Dette var det landet som Josefs-borni, Manasse og Efraim, fekk til odel og eiga.
5 And the boundary of the sons of Ephraim, by their families, was, —yea the boundary of their inheritance on the east, was Ataroth-addar, as far as Beth-horon the upper;
Landet åt Efraims-sønerne og ættgreinerne deira låg soleis til: Fylkesdeilet gjekk på austkanten frammed Atrot-Addar, tok burtetter til Øvre Bet-Horon,
6 and the boundary goeth out westward at Michmethath, on the north, then the boundary bendeth round easward, to Taanath-shiloh, —and passeth by it on the east to Janoah;
og enda utmed havet. På nordsida gjekk fylkesdeilet frammed Mikmetat og vende seg austetter til Ta’anat-Silo; sidan heldt bytestrengen fram i aust til Janoah,
7 and goeth down from Janoah to Ataroth and to Naarah, —and toucheth upon Jericho, and goeth out at the Jordan.
og tok frå Janoah ned til Atarot og Na’ara, snart innåt Jeriko, og gjekk ut i Jordan.
8 From Tappuah, runneth the boundary along westward, to the ravine of Kanah, and the extensions thereof are to the sea, —this, is the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Ephraim, by their families;
Frå Tappuah gjekk fylkesdeilet vestetter til Kanabekken, og enda utmed havet. Dette var odelseiga åt Efraims-sønerne og ættgreinerne deira,
9 together with the cities which were separated for the sons of Ephraim, in the midst of the inheritance of the sons of Manasseh, —all the cities, with their villages.
og attåt det dei byarne som vart utskilde åt Efraims-sønerne i Manassefylket, både byarne og grenderne som låg ikring.
10 But they did not dispossess the Canaanites who were dwelling in Gazer, —so the Canaanites have dwelt in the midst of Ephraim unto this day, and have become tributary servants.
Men Efraims-sønerne dreiv ikkje ut dei kananitarne som budde i Gezer; Kananitarne vart buande i Efraimsfylket, som dei gjer den dag i dag, men laut gjera trælearbeid.
