Job 38
1 Then Yahweh responded to Job, out of a storm, and said: —
Ndipo Yahweh alimwita Ayubu kutoka katika dhoruba kali na kumwambia,
2 Who is it that darkeneth counsel, by words, without knowledge?
“Huyu ni nani aletaye giza katika mipango kwa njia ya maneno bila maarifa?
3 Gird, I pray thee—like a strong man—thy loins, that I may ask thee, and inform thou me:
Basi sasa jifunge kiunoni mwako kama mwanaume kwa kuwa nitakuuliza maswali, nawe lazima unijibu.
4 Where wast thou, when I founded the earth? Tell, if thou knowest understanding!
Wewe ulikuwa wapi wakati nilipoitandaza misingi ya dunia? Niambie, kama unao ufahamu zaidi.
5 Who set the measurements thereof, if thou knowest? Or who stretched out over it a line?
Je ni nani aliyeamuru vipimo vyake? Niambie, kama unajua, ni nani alivinyosha vipimo juu yake?
6 Whereon were the pedestals thereof sunk? Or who laid the corner stone thereof; —
Misingi yake ilitandazwa juu ya nini? Ni nani aliyeliweka jiwe lake la pembeni
7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
wakati nyota za asubuhi zilipoimba pamoja na wana wote wa Mungu walipopiga kelele kwa furaha?
8 Or [who] shut in, with double doors, the sea, when, bursting out of the womb, it came forth;
Ni nani huifunga bahari kwa milango wakati inapofurika, kana kwamba inatoka katika tumbo,
9 When I put a cloud as the garment thereof, and a thick cloud as the swaddling-band thereof;
wakati nilipoyafanya mawingu kuwa ni mavazi yake, na giza nene kuwa mkanda wake wa kujifungia?
10 And brake off for it my boundary, and fixed a bar and double doors;
Hapo ilikuwa wakati nilipoweka bahari mpaka wangu, na nilipoweka makomeo yake na milango,
11 And said—Hitherto, shalt thou come, and no further, —and, here, shalt thou set a limit to the majesty of thy waves?
na wakati nilipoiambia, 'Unaweza kuja hapa kutoka mbali, lakini si zaidi; na hapa ndipo nitauweka mpaka kwa fahari ya mawimbi yako.'
12 Since thy days [began] hast thou commanded the morning? or caused the dawn to know its place;
Je tangu mwanzo wa siku zako, ulishawahi kuigiza asubuhi ianze, na kuyafanya mapambazuko yajue sehemu yake katika mpangilio wa vitu,
13 That it might lay hold of the wings of the earth, and the lawless be shaken out of it?
ili kwamba ishikilie sehemu za dunia ili watu waovu watikiswe mbali nayo.
14 It transformeth itself like the clay of a seal, so that things stand forth like one arrayed;
Dunia imebadilishwa katika mwonekano kama udongo unavyobadilika chini ya muhuri; vitu vyote husimama juu yake dhahiri kama cha kibindo cha nguo.
15 That their light may be withdrawn from the lawless, and, the lofty arm, be shivered.
'Mwanga' wao umeondolewa kutoka kwa watu waovu; na mkono wao ulioinuliwa umevunjwa.
16 Hast thou entered as far as the springs of the sea? Or, through the secret recesses of the resounding deep, hast thou wandered?
Je umeshaenda kwenye vyanzo vya maji ya bahari? Je umeshatembea sehemu za chini kabisa za kilindi?
17 Have the gates of death been disclosed to thee? And, the gates of the death-shade, couldst thou descry?
Je malango ya mauti yamefunuliwa kwako? Je umeshaona malango ya uvuli wa mauti?
18 Hast thou well considered, even the breadths of the earth? Tell—if thou knowest it all!
Je umeifahamu dunia katika upana wake? Niambie kama unayajua yote hayo.
19 Where then is the way, the light shall abide? And, the darkness, where then is its place?
Je iko wapi njia ya sehemu ya kupumzikia kwa mwanga, na kama ilivyo kwa giza, iko wapi sehemu yake?
20 That thou mayest conduct it unto the bound thereof, and that thou mayest perceive the paths to its house.
Je unaweza kuuongoza mwanga na giza katika sehemu zake za kazi? Waweza kuitambua njia ya kurudi katika nyumba zao?
21 Thou knowest, for, then, hadst thou been born! And, in number, thy days are many!
Bila shaka unajua, kwa kuwa ulizaliwa wakati huo; hesabu ya siku zako ni kubwa sana!
22 Hast thou entered into the treasuries of the snow? And, the treasuries of the hail, couldst thou see?
Je ulishaingia katika ghala ya barafu, au umeshaiona ghala ya mawe ya mvua,
23 Which I have reserved for a time of distress, for the day of conflict and of war?
vitu hivi nimeviweka kwa ajili ya siku za mateso, kwa siku za mapigano na vita?
24 Where then is the way the lightning is parted? The east wind spreadeth itself abroad over the earth.
Je iko wapi njia ya mshindo wa mwanga hutokea au je upepo husambazwa kutoka mashariki juu ya dunia?
25 Who hath cloven—for the torrent—a channel? Or a way for the lightning of thunders;
Ni nani aliyezitengeneza mifereji ya gharika ya mvua, au ni nani aliyezifanya njia za milipuko ya radi,
26 To give rain over the no-man’s land, the desert, where no son of earth is;
na kuifanya mvua inyeshe juu ya nchi ambazo hakuna mtu aishiye ndani yake, na juu ya jangwa, ambayo ndani yake hakuna mtu yeyote,
27 To satisfy the wild and the wilderness, to cause to spring forth the meadow of young grass?
kwa kusudi la kutimiza mahitaji ya mikoa iliyo kame na yenye ukiwa, na kuyastawisha majani mororo?
28 Hath the rain a father? Or who hath begotten the drops of dew?
Je kuna baba wa mvua? Ni nani aliyeyafanya matone ya umande?
29 Out of whose womb, came forth the ice? And, the hoar-frost of the heavens, who hath given it birth?
Je barafu ilitoka katika tumbo la nani? Na ni nani aliyeizaa theluji nyeupe katika anga?
30 Like a stone, are the waters congealed, and, the face of the roaring deep, becometh firm!
Maji hujificha menyewe na kuwa kama jiwe; sehemu za juu za vilindi huwa kama barafu.
31 Canst thou bind the fetters of the Pleiades? Or, the bands of Orion, canst thou unloose?
Je unaweza kuzifunga minyororo ya Kilimia, au kuvifungua vifundo vya Orioni?
32 Canst thou bring forth the signs of the Zodiac each in its season? Or, the Bear and her Young, canst thou lead?
Je unaweza kuziongoza nyota kutokea katika nyakati zake? Je waweza kuongoza dubu pamoja na watoto wake?
33 Knowest thou, the statutes of the heavens? Or didst thou appoint his dominion over the earth?
Je unazijua sheria za anga? Wewe uliweza kuanzisha sheria za anga juu ya dunia?
34 Canst thou lift up, to the thick cloud, thy voice, and the overflow of waters cover thee?
Je waweza kupaza sauti yako hadi mawinguni, ili kwamba maji mengi ya mvua yakufunike?
35 Canst thou send forth the lightnings, so that they go, and say to thee, Behold us?
Je waweza kuagiza miali ya mwanga ili itokee, na kukwambia, 'Sisi tupo hapa'?
36 Who hath put—into cloud-forms—wisdom? Or who hath given—to the meteor—understanding?
Ni nani ameweka hekima katika mawingu au ni nani ameweka ufahamu kwa ukungu?
37 Who can count the thin clouds, in wisdom? And, the bottles of the heavens, who can empty out;
Nani anaweza kuyahesabu mawingu kwa maarifa yake? Na ni nani awezaye kuvimwaga viriba vya anga
38 When the dust is cast into a clod, and the lumps are bound together?
wakati mavumbi yanapoungana kuwa kitu kigumu na mabonge ya dunia yanaposhikama kwa pamoja?
39 Wilt thou hunt—for the Lioness—prey? Or, the craving of the Strong Lion, wilt thou satisfy;
Je waweza kuwinda mawindo kwa ajili ya simba jike au kutosheleza hamu ya watoto wadogo wa simba
40 When they settle down in dens, abide in covert, for lying in wait?
wakati wanapokwaruza kwaruza katika pango lao na kukaa katika kificho ili kulala katika hali ya kuvizia?
41 Who prepareth for the Raven his nourishment, —when his young ones—unto GOD—cry out, [when] they wander for lack of food?
Ni nani aletaye mawindo kwa ajili ya kunguru wakati ambapo watoto wao wanapomlilia Mungu na kutangatanga kwa kukosa chakula?
