Exodus 16
1 Then moved they on from Elim, and all the assembly of the sons of Israel entered into the desert of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month, by their coming forth out of the land of Egypt.
Εσηκώθησαν δε από Αιλείμ· και ήλθον πάσα η συναγωγή των υιών Ισραήλ εις την έρημον Σιν, την μεταξύ Αιλείμ και Σινά, την δεκάτην πέμπτην ημέραν του δευτέρου μηνός αφού εξήλθον εκ γης Αιγύπτου.
2 Then did all the assembly of the sons of Israel murmur against Moses and against Aaron in the desert;
Και εγόγγυζε πάσα η συναγωγή των υιών Ισραήλ κατά του Μωϋσέως και κατά του Ααρών εν τη ερήμω.
3 and the sons of Israel said unto them—Oh that we had died by the hand of Yahweh, in the land of Egypt, when we remained by the pot of flesh, when we did eat bread to the full, —for ye have brought us forth into this desert, to cause all this multitude to die by famine.
Και είπον προς αυτούς οι υιοί Ισραήλ, Είθε να απεθνήσκομεν υπό της χειρός του Κυρίου εν τη γη της Αιγύπτου, ότε εκαθήμεθα πλησίον των λεβήτων του κρέατος και ότε ετρώγομεν άρτον εις χορτασμόν· διότι εξηγάγετε ημάς εις την έρημον ταύτην, διά να θανατώσητε με την πείναν πάσαν την συναγωγήν ταύτην.
4 Then said Yahweh unto Moses, Behold me! raining down for you bread out of heaven, —and the people shall go out and gather the portion for a day, on its day, that I may prove them whether they will walk in my law, or not.
Και είπε Κύριος προς τον Μωϋσήν, Ιδού, θέλω βρέξει εις εσάς άρτον εξ ουρανού· και θέλει εξέρχεσθαι ο λαός και συνάγει καθ' ημέραν το αρκούν της ημέρας, διά να δοκιμάσω αυτούς, αν θέλωσι περιπατεί εις τον νόμον μου ή ουχί·
5 And it shall come to pass on the sixth day, that they shall settle what they shall bring in, —and it shall be twice as much as they gather day by day.
την δε έκτην ημέραν ας ετοιμάζωσιν εκείνο το οποίον ήθελον εισαγάγει, και ας ήναι διπλάσιον του όσον συνάγουσι καθ' ημέραν.
6 So Moses and Aaron said unto all the sons of Israel, —At eventide, then shall ye know that it was, Yahweh, who brought you forth, out of the land of Egypt;
Και είπον ο Μωϋσής και ο Ααρών προς πάντας τους υιούς Ισραήλ, Το εσπέρας θέλετε γνωρίσει ότι ο Κύριος εξήγαγεν υμάς εκ γης Αιγύπτου·
7 and, in the morning, then shall ye see the glory of Yahweh, in that he hath heard your murmurings against Yahweh, —what then are, we, that ye should murmur against, us?
και το πρωΐ θέλετε ιδεί την δόξαν του Κυρίου, διότι ήκουσε τους γογγυσμούς σας εναντίον του Κυρίου· επειδή ημείς τι είμεθα, ώστε να γογγύζητε καθ' ημών;
8 And Moses said—In that Yahweh giveth you in the evening flesh to eat, and bread in the morning, to the full, in that Yahweh heareth your murmurings wherewith ye are murmuring against him, what then are, we? Not against us, do ye murmur but against Yahweh.
Και είπεν ο Μωϋσής, Τούτο θέλει γείνει, όταν ο Κύριος δώση εις εσάς το εσπέρας κρέας να φάγητε και το πρωΐ άρτον εις χορτασμόν· διότι ήκουσε Κύριος τους γογγυσμούς σας τους οποίους γογγύζετε κατ' αυτού· και τι είμεθα ημείς; οι γογγυσμοί σας δεν είναι καθ' ημών, αλλά κατά του Κυρίου.
9 And Moses said unto Aaron, Say unto all the assembly of the sons of Israel, Draw near, before Yahweh, —for he hath heard your murmurings.
Και είπεν ο Μωϋσής προς τον Ααρών, Ειπέ προς πάσαν την συναγωγήν των υιών Ισραήλ, Πλησιάσατε έμπροσθεν του Κυρίου· διότι ήκουσε τους γογγυσμούς σας.
10 And it came to pass, when Aaron spake unto all the assembly of the sons of Israel, then turned they towards the desert, —and lo! the glory of Yahweh, had appeared in the cloud,
Και ενώ ελάλει ο Ααρών προς πάσαν την συναγωγήν των υιών Ισραήλ, έστρεψαν το πρόσωπον προς την έρημον, και ιδού, η δόξα του Κυρίου εφάνη εν τη νεφέλη.
11 Then spake Yahweh unto Moses—saying,
Και ελάλησε Κύριος προς τον Μωϋσήν, λέγων,
12 I have heard the murmurings of the sons of Israel, —speak unto them, saying—Between the two evenings, shall ye eat flesh, and in the morning, shall ye be filled with bread, —so shall ye know that I Yahweh am your God.
Ήκουσα τους γογγυσμούς των υιών Ισραήλ· λάλησον προς αυτούς, λέγων, Το εσπέρας θέλετε φάγει κρέας, και το πρωΐ θέλετε χορτασθή από άρτου, και θέλετε γνωρίσει ότι εγώ είμαι Κύριος ο Θεός σας.
13 And it came to pass, in the evening, that there came up quail, and covered the camp, —and in the morning was the outpouring of dew, round about the camp;
Και το εσπέρας ανέβησαν ορτύκια και εσκέπασαν το στρατόπεδον· και το πρωΐ καθ' όλα τα πέριξ του στρατοπέδου ήτο στρώμα δρόσου.
14 and when the outpouring of dew went up, then lo! on the face of the desert, a thin flake, thin as hoar-frost on the earth,
Και αφού το στρώμα της δρόσου ανέβη, ιδού, επί το πρόσωπον της ερήμου ήτο λεπτόν τι στρογγύλον, λεπτόν ως πάχνη επί της γης.
15 And when the sons of Israel saw it they said one to another—What is that? For they knew not what "that" was. Then said Moses unto them, "That" is the bread which Yahweh hath given you to eat.
Και ότε είδον οι υιοί Ισραήλ, είπον προς αλλήλους, Τι είναι τούτο; διότι δεν ήξευρον τι ήτο. Και ο Μωϋσής είπε προς αυτούς, Ούτος είναι ο άρτος, τον οποίον ο Κύριος σας δίδει διά να φάγητε·
16 This, is the thing which Yahweh hath commanded, Gather ye thereof, each man what he needeth for eating, —an omer a head, by the number of your souls, each man—for them who are in his tent, shall ye take.
ούτος είναι ο λόγος τον οποίον προσέταξεν ο Κύριος, Συνάξατε εξ αυτού έκαστος όσον χρειάζεται διά να φάγη, εν γομόρ κατά κεφαλήν, κατά τον αριθμόν των ψυχών σας· λάβετε έκαστος διά τους ομοσκήνους αυτού.
17 And the sons of Israel did so, —and gathered, [some] more, and [some] less;
Και έκαμον ούτως οι υιοί Ισραήλ, και συνήγαγον άλλος πολύ και άλλος ολίγον.
18 and when they measured it with the omer, he who had gathered more had nothing over, and he who had gathered less had no lack: each man what he needed for eating, did they gather.
Και ότε εμέτρησαν με το γομόρ, όστις είχε συνάξει πολύ, δεν ελάμβανε πλειότερον· και όστις είχε συνάξει ολίγον, δεν ελάμβανεν ολιγώτερον· έκαστος ελάμβανεν όσον εχρειάζετο εις αυτόν διά τροφήν.
19 And Moses said unto them, —Let, no man leave thereof, until morning.
είπε δε προς αυτούς ο Μωϋσής, Ας μη αφίνη εξ αυτού μηδείς υπόλοιπον έως πρωΐ.
20 But they hearkened not unto Moses, but certain men left thereof until morning, and it swarmed with worms and become loathsome, —and Moses was wroth with them.
Πλην δεν υπήκουσαν εις τον Μωϋσήν· αλλά αφήκαν τινές υπόλοιπον εξ αυτού έως πρωΐ, και εγέννησε σκώληκας και εβρώμησε· και εθυμώθη εναντίον αυτών ο Μωϋσής.
21 Thus then they gathered it morning by morning, each man what he needed for eating, and as soon as the sun waxed hot, so soon it melted.
Και συνήγον αυτό καθ' εκάστην πρωΐαν, έκαστος όσον εχρειάζετο διά τροφήν αυτού· και ότε ο ήλιος εθέρμαινε, διελύετο.
22 And it came to pass on the sixth day, that they gathered food twice as much, two omers for each one, —so all the princes of the assembly came in, and told Moses.
Την δε έκτην ημέραν συνήγαγον τροφήν διπλασίαν, δύο γομόρ δι' ένα· και ήλθον πάντες οι άρχοντες της συναγωγής και ανήγγειλαν τούτο προς τον Μωϋσήν.
23 And he said unto them—That is what Yahweh spake. The observance of a holy sabbath to Yahweh, is to-morrow, —what ye would bake, bake and what ye would boil, boil, and all that is left over, put by you to keep until the morning.
Ο δε είπε προς αυτούς, Τούτο είναι το οποίον είπε Κύριος· Αύριον είναι σάββατον, ανάπαυσις αγία εις τον Κύριον· ψήσατε ό, τι έχετε να ψήσητε και βράσατε ό, τι έχετε να βράσητε· και παν το περισσεύον εναποταμιεύσατε εις εαυτούς διά να φυλάττηται έως πρωΐ.
24 So they put it by until the morning, as Moses had commanded, —and it gave no unpleasant odour, neither was there a worm, therein.
Και εναπεταμίευσαν αυτό έως πρωΐ, καθώς προσέταξεν ο Μωϋσής· και δεν εβρώμησεν ουδέ έγεινε σκώληξ εν αυτώ.
25 Then said Moses—Eat ye it to-day, for a sabbath, is to-day, unto Yahweh, —to-day, ye shall not find it in the field.
Και είπεν ο Μωϋσής, Φάγετε αυτό σήμερον· διότι σήμερον είναι σάββατον εις τον Κύριον· σήμερον δεν θέλετε ευρεί αυτό εν τη πεδιάδι·
26 Six days, shall ye gather it, —but on the seventh day, a sabbath, it shall not be therein.
εξ ημέρας θέλετε συνάγει αυτό· εν τη εβδόμη όμως ημέρα, τω σαββάτω, εν ταύτη δεν θέλει ευρίσκεσθαι.
27 And it came to pass on the seventh day, that there went forth some of the people to gather, —but they found not.
Τινές δε εκ του λαού εξήλθον την εβδόμην ημέραν διά να συνάξωσι, πλην δεν εύρον.
28 Then said Yahweh unto Moses, —How long have ye refused to keep my commandments and my laws?
Και είπε Κύριος προς τον Μωϋσήν, Έως πότε δεν θέλετε να φυλάττητε τας εντολάς μου και τους νόμους μου;
29 See because Yahweh hath given you the sabbath, for this cause, is, he, giving you on the sixth day, food for two days, —abide ye every man in his place, let no man go forth from his dwelling, on the seventh day,
ίδετε ότι ο Κύριος έδωκεν εις εσάς το σάββατον, διά τούτο την έκτην ημέραν σας δίδει άρτον δύο ημερών· καθίσατε έκαστος εις τον τόπον αυτού· ας μη εξέρχεται μηδείς εκ του τόπου αυτού την εβδόμην ημέραν.
30 So the people rested on the seventh day.
Και έκαμε κατάπαυσιν ο λαός την εβδόμην ημέραν.
31 And the house of Israel called the name thereof Manna, —and the same, was like coriander seed white, and the taste thereof, like flat-cake with honey,
Και εκάλεσεν ο οίκος του Ισραήλ το όνομα αυτού Μάν· ήτο δε όμοιον με σπόρον κοριάνδρου λευκόν· και η γεύσις αυτού ως πλακούντιον με μέλι.
32 And Moses said—This, is the thing which Yahweh hath commanded, Fill an omer therefrom as a thing to be preserved to your generations, —that they may see the bread wherewith I fed you in the desert, when I brought you forth out of the land of Egypt.
Και είπεν ο Μωϋσής, Ούτος είναι ο λόγος τον οποίον προσέταξεν ο Κύριος· Γεμίσατε εξ αυτού εν γομόρ, διά να φυλάττηται εις τας γενεάς σας, διά να βλέπωσι τον άρτον με τον οποίον έθρεψα υμάς εν τη ερήμω, αφού εξήγαγον υμάς εκ γης Αιγύπτου.
33 So Moses said unto Aaron—Take a single basket, and put therein an omer-full of manna, —and set it down before Yahweh, as a thing to be preserved to your generations.
Και είπεν ο Μωϋσής προς τον Ααρών, Λάβε μίαν στάμνον, και βάλε εν αυτή εν γομόρ πλήρες από μάννα, και θες αυτήν έμπροσθεν του Κυρίου, διά να φυλάττηται εις τας γενεάς σας.
34 As Yahweh gave command unto Moses, so did Aaron set it down before the testimony, as a thing to be preserved,
Και έθεσεν αυτήν ο Ααρών έμπροσθεν του Μαρτυρίου, διά να φυλάττηται, καθώς προσέταξεν ο Κύριος εις τον Μωϋσήν.
35 And, the sons of Israel did eat the manna forty years, until they entered into the land wherein they were to dwell, —the manna, they did eat until they entered into the bounds of the land of Canaan.
Και έτρωγον οι υιοί Ισραήλ το μάννα τεσσαράκοντα έτη, εωσού ήλθον εις γην κατοικουμένην· έτρωγον το μάννα, εωσού ήλθον εις τα όρια της γης Χαναάν.
36 Now, an omer, is, the tenth of the ephah.
Το δε γομόρ είναι το δέκατον του εφά.
