Deuteronomy 5
1 Then called Moses unto all Israel and said unto them—Hear, O Israel, the statutes and the regulations, which I am speaking in your ears to-day, —so shall ye learn them, and observe to do them.
Και εκάλεσεν ο Μωϋσής πάντα τον Ισραήλ και είπε προς αυτούς, Άκουε, Ισραήλ, τα διατάγματα και τας κρίσεις, τας οποίας εγώ λαλώ εις τα ώτα υμών σήμερον, διά να μάθητε αυτάς, και να προσέχητε να εκτελήτε αυτάς.
2 Yahweh our God, solemnised with us a covenant in Horeb:
Κύριος ο Θεός ημών έκαμε διαθήκην προς ημάς εν Χωρήβ.
3 not with our fathers did Yahweh solemnise this covenant, —but with us, ourselves—these here to-day, all of us living.
Δεν έκαμε την διαθήκην ταύτην ο Κύριος προς τους πατέρας ημών, αλλά προς ημάς, ημάς οίτινες πάντες είμεθα ενταύθα σήμερον ζώντες.
4 Face to face, spake Yahweh with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire,
Πρόσωπον προς πρόσωπον ελάλησε Κύριος με σας εις το όρος εκ μέσου του πυρός,
5 (I was standing between Yahweh and you, at that time, to declare unto you the word of Yahweh, —for ye shrank with fear from the presence of the fire, and went not up in the mount) saying: —
εγώ δε εστεκόμην μεταξύ του Κυρίου και υμών κατ' εκείνον τον καιρόν, διά να σας φανερώσω τον λόγον του Κυρίου· διότι ήσθε πεφοβισμένοι εξ αιτίας του πυρός και δεν ανέβητε εις το όρος, λέγων.
6 I, am Yahweh thy God, who have brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt out of the house of servants: —
Εγώ είμαι Κύριος ο Θεός σου, όστις σε εξήγαγον εκ γης Αιγύπτου, εξ οίκου δουλείας.
7 Thou shalt not have other gods, besides me:
Μη έχης άλλους θεούς, πλην εμού.
8 Thou shalt not make unto thee an image, any form that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth beneath or that is in the waters beneath the earth:
Μη κάμης εις σεαυτόν είδωλον, μηδέ ομοίωμα τινός, όσα είναι εν τω ουρανώ άνω, ή όσα είναι εν τη γη κάτω, ή όσα είναι εν τοις ύδασιν υποκάτω της γης
9 thou shalt not bow thyself down to them nor be led to serve them, —for, I Yahweh thy God, am a jealous GOD, visiting the iniquity of fathers upon sons even unto three generations and unto four, unto them that hate me;
μη προσκυνήσης αυτά μηδέ λατρεύσης αυτά· διότι εγώ Κύριος ο Θεός σου είμαι Θεός ζηλότυπος, ανταποδίδων τας αμαρτίας των πατέρων επί τα τέκνα, έως τρίτης και τετάρτης γενεάς των μισούντων με·
10 but shewing lovingkindness unto a thousand generation—unto them who love me, and keep my commandments:
και κάμνων έλεος εις χιλιάδας γενεών των αγαπώντων με και φυλαττόντων τα προστάγματά μου.
11 Thou shalt not utter the name of Yahweh thy God, for falsehood, —for Yahweh will not let him go unpunished who uttereth his name for falsehood:
Μη λάβης το όνομα Κυρίου του Θεού σου επί ματαίω διότι ο Κύριος δεν θέλει αθωώσει τον λαμβάνοντα το όνομα αυτού επί ματαίω.
12 Observe the sabbath day, to hallow it, —as Yahweh thy God, hath commanded thee:
Φύλαττε την ημέραν του σαββάτου, διά να αγιάζης αυτήν· καθώς προσέταξεν εις σε Κύριος ο Θεός σου·
13 six days, shalt thou labour, and do all thy work;
εξ ημέρας εργάζου και κάμνε πάντα τα έργα σου·
14 but, the seventh day, is a sabbath unto Yahweh thy God, —thou shalt do no work—thou nor thy son nor thy daughter nor thy servant nor thy handmaid nor thine ox nor thine ass nor any of thy cattle, nor thy sojourner who is within thy gates, that thy servant and thy handmaid may rest, as well as thou.
η ημέρα όμως η εβδόμη είναι σάββατον Κυρίου του Θεού σου· μη κάμης εν ταύτη ουδέν έργον, μήτε συ μήτε ο υιός σου μήτε η θυγάτηρ σου μήτε ο δούλός σου μήτε η δούλη σου μήτε ο βους σου μήτε ο όνος σου μήτε κανέν εκ των κτηνών σου μήτε ο ξένος σου ο εντός των πυλών σου διά να αναπαυθή ο δούλός σου και η δούλη σου καθώς συ.
15 So shalt thou remember that a servant, wast thou in the land of Egypt, and that Yahweh thy God brought thee forth from thence, with a firm hand, and with a stretched-out arm, —for this cause, hath Yahweh thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day:
Και ενθυμού, ότι ήσο δούλος εν τη γη της Αιγύπτου· και Κύριος ο Θεός σου σε εξήγαγεν εκείθεν εν χειρί κραταιά και εν βραχίονι εξηπλωμένω· διά τούτο Κύριος ο Θεός σου προσέταξεν εις σε να φυλάττης την ημέραν του σαββάτου.
16 Honour thy father and thy mother, as Yahweh thy God hath commanded thee, —that thy days may be prolonged and that it may go well with thee, upon the soil which Yahweh thy God is about to give unto thee:
Τίμα τον πατέρα σου και την μητέρα σου, καθώς προσέταξεν εις σε Κύριος ο Θεός σου· διά να γείνης μακροχρόνιος και διά να ευημερής επί της γης, την οποίαν δίδει εις σε Κύριος ο Θεός σου.
17 Thou shalt not commit murder:
Μη φονεύσης.
18 Neither shalt thou commit adultery:
Και μη μοιχεύσης.
19 Neither shalt thou steal:
Και μη κλέψης.
20 Neither shalt thou testify against thy neighbour with a witness of falsehood:
Και μη ψευδομαρτυρήσης κατά του πλησίον σου μαρτυρίαν ψευδή.
21 Neither shalt thou covet thy neighbour’s wife, —neither shalt thou desire thy neighbour’s house, his field, or his servant, or his handmaid, his ox or his ass, or anything that is thy neighbour’s.
Και μη επιθυμήσης την γυναίκα του πλησίον σου· μηδέ επιθυμήσης την οικίαν του πλησίον σου μήτε τον αγρόν αυτού μήτε τον δούλον αυτού μήτε την δούλην αυτού μήτε τον βουν αυτού μήτε τον όνον αυτού μηδέ παν ό, τι είναι του πλησίον σου.
22 These words, spake Yahweh unto all the convocation of you in the mount out of the midst of the fire the cloud and the thick gloom, a loud voice, and added not, —and he wrote them upon two tables of stone, and gave them unto me.
Ταύτα τα λόγια ελάλησε Κύριος προς πάσαν την συναγωγήν σας εν τω όρει εκ μέσου του πυρός, της νεφέλης και του γνόφου, εν φωνή μεγάλη· και άλλο τι δεν επρόσθεσε· και έγραψεν αυτά επί δύο πλάκας λιθίνας και παρέδωκεν αυτάς εις εμέ.
23 And it came to pass, when ye heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness, the mountain also burning with fire, then drew ye near unto me, even all the heads of your tribes and your elders,
Και αφού ηκούσατε την φωνήν εκ μέσου του σκότους, και το όρος εκαίετο με πυρ, τότε προσήλθετε προς εμέ, πάντες οι αρχηγοί των φυλών σας και οι πρεσβύτεροί σας,
24 and ye said—Lo! Yahweh our God hath let us see his glory and his greatness, his voice also, have we heard out of the midst of the fire, —this day, have we seen, that God may speak with man who yet may live.
και ελέγετε, Ιδού, Κύριος ο Θεός ημών έδειξεν εις ημάς την δόξαν αυτού και την μεγαλωσύνην αυτού, και ηκούσαμεν την φωνήν αυτού εκ μέσου του πυρός· την ημέραν ταύτην είδομεν ότι ο Θεός λαλεί μετά του ανθρώπου και ο άνθρωπος ζή·
25 Now, therefore why should we die? for this great fire, will consume, us, —if we ourselves, hear the voice of Yahweh our God any more, we shall die.
τώρα λοιπόν διά τι να αποθάνωμεν; επειδή το μέγα τούτο πυρ θέλει μας καταφάγει εάν ημείς ακούσωμεν έτι την φωνήν Κυρίου του Θεού ημών, θέλομεν αποθάνει·
26 For who [is there] of all flesh, that ever heard the voice of a Living God speaking out of the midst of fire as we, and yet lived?
διότι τις είναι εκ πάντων των θνητών, όστις ήκουσε την φωνήν του ζώντος Θεού λαλούντος εκ μέσου του πυρός, καθώς ημείς, και έζησε;
27 Go, thou, near, and hear, all that Yahweh our God shall say, —so shalt thou speak unto us, all that Yahweh our God shall speak unto thee and we will hear and do.
πρόσελθε συ και άκουσον πάντα όσα είπη Κύριος ο Θεός ημών· και συ ειπέ προς ημάς όσα είπη προς σε Κύριος ο Θεός ημών· και ημείς θέλομεν ακούσει και κάμει αυτά.
28 And Yahweh heard the voice of your words, when ye spake unto me, —and Yahweh said unto me—I have heard the voice of the words of this people which they have spoken unto thee, they have well said all which they have spoken.
Και ήκουσε Κύριος την φωνήν των λόγων σας, ότε ελαλείτε προς εμέ· και είπε Κύριος προς εμέ, Ήκουσα την φωνήν των λόγων του λαού τούτου, τους οποίους ελάλησαν προς σέ· καλώς είπον πάντα όσα ελάλησαν.
29 Oh that this their heart might remain in them to revere me, and to keep all my commandments all the days, —that it might be well with them and with their sons unto times age-abiding.
Είθε να ήτο εις αυτούς τοιαύτη καρδία, ώστε να με φοβώνται και να φυλάττωσι πάντοτε πάντα τα προστάγματά μου, διά να ευημερώσιν αιωνίως, αυτοί και τα τέκνα αυτών.
30 Go, say unto them, —Return ye to your tents.
Ύπαγε, ειπέ προς αυτούς, Επιστρέψατε εις τας σκηνάς σας.
31 Thou, therefore here stand with me and let me speak unto thee—all the commandment and the statutes and the regulations which thou shalt teach them, —that they may do [them] in the land which I am giving unto them to possess it.
Συ δε στήθι αυτού μετ' εμού και θέλω σοι ειπεί πάσας τας εντολάς και τα διατάγματα, και τας κρίσεις, τας οποίας θέλεις διδάξει αυτούς, διά να κάμνωσιν αυτάς εν τη γη, την οποίαν εγώ δίδω εις αυτούς εις κληρονομίαν.
32 So then ye must observe to do, as Yahweh your God hath commanded you, —ye must not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.
Θέλετε λοιπόν προσέχει να κάμνητε καθώς προσέταξεν εις εσάς Κύριος ο Θεός σας· δεν θέλετε εκκλίνει δεξιά ή αριστερά.
33 In all the way which Yahweh your God hath commanded you, must ye walk, —that ye may live and it be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land, which ye shall possess.
Θέλετε περιπατεί εις πάσας τας οδούς, τας οποίας Κύριος ο Θεός σας προσέταξεν εις εσάς· διά να ζήτε και να ευημερήτε και να μακροημερεύητε εν τη γη, την οποίαν θέλετε κληρονομήσει.
