1 Samuel 24
1 And it came to pass, when Saul had returned from following the Philistines, that it was told him, saying: Lo! David is in the wilderness of En-gedi.
Khi Sau-lơ đuổi theo Phi-li-tin trở về rồi, có người đến nói cùng Sau-lơ rằng: Kìa, Đa-vít ở trong đồng vắng Eân-ghê-đi.
2 Then Saul took three thousand chosen men, out of all Israel, —and went to seek David and his men, over the face of the rocks of the mountain-goats.
Sau-lơ bèn đem ba ngàn người chọn trong cả dân Y-sơ-ra-ên, kéo ra đi kiếm Đa-vít và những kẻ theo người cho đến các hòn đá của dê rừng.
3 And he came into the sheep-folds by the way, there, being a cave, which Saul entered, to cover his feet, —David and his men, in the hinder part of the cave, having taken up their abode.
Sau-lơ đi đến gần chuồng chiên ở trên đường. Tại đó có một hang đá; Sau-lơ bèn vào đó đặng đi tiện. Vả, Đa-vít và bọn theo người ở trong cùng hang.
4 So David’s men said unto him—Lo! the day of which Yahweh said unto thee—Lo! I am about to deliver up thine enemy, into thy hand: therefore shall thou do unto him, as shall be good in thine eyes. And David arose, and cut off the corner of the robe which belonged to Saul, by stealth.
Những kẻ theo Đa-vít nói cùng người rằng: Nầy là ngày mà Đức Giê-hô-va có phán cùng ông: Ta sẽ phó kẻ thù nghịch ngươi vào tay ngươi. Hãy xử người tùy ý ông. Nhưng Đa-vít đứng dậy, cắt trộm vạt áo tơi của Sau-lơ.
5 And it came to pass afterwards that David’s heart smote him, —because he had cut off the corner [of the robe] which belonged to Saul.
Đoạn lòng người tự trách về điều mình đã cắt vạt áo tơi của vua.
6 And he said unto his men—Far be it from me, of Yahweh, that I should do this thing unto my lord, unto the Anointed of Yahweh, to thrust forth my hand against him, —for, the Anointed of Yahweh, is he!
Người nói cùng kẻ theo mình rằng: Nguyện Đức Giê-hô-va chớ để ta phạm tội cùng chúa ta, là kẻ chịu xức dầu của Đức Giê-hô-va, mà tra tay trên mình người, vì người là kẻ chịu xức dầu của Đức Giê-hô-va.
7 So David did chide his men with the words, and did not suffer them to rise up against Saul. And, Saul, rose up out of the cave, and went on his way.
Đa-vít nói những lời ấy quở trách các kẻ theo mình, mà ngăn cản chúng xông vào mình Sau-lơ. Sau-lơ đứng dậy, ra khỏi hang đá, và cứ đi đường mình.
8 Then David rose up, afterwards, and went forth out of the cave, and cried out after Saul, saying—My lord, O king! And, when Saul looked about behind him, David inclined his face to the earth, and bowed himself down.
Đoạn Đa-vít cũng chổi dậy, đi ra khỏi hang đá, gọi Sau-lơ, mà nói rằng: Hỡi vua, chúa tôi! Sau-lơ ngó lại sau mình, thì Đa-vít cúi mặt xuống đất mà lạy.
9 Then said David to Saul, Wherefore shouldst thou hearken unto the words of the sons of earth, saying, —Lo! David is seeking thy hurt?
Đa-vít nói cùng Sau-lơ rằng: Nhân sao vua nghe những lời của kẻ nói rằng: Đa-vít kiếm thế làm hại vua?
10 Lo! this day, have thine own eyes seen, how Yahweh had delivered thee up, to-day, into my hand in the cave, and, when one bade me slay thee, I looked with compassion upon thee, —and I said—I will not thrust forth my hand against my lord, for, the Anointed of Yahweh, is he!
Kìa, hãy xem, chính mắt vua có thế thấy được rằng ngày nay, trong hang đá, Đức Giê-hô-va đã phó vua vào tay tôi. Có người biểu giết vua; nhưng tôi dong-thứ cho vua, mà rằng: ta không tra tay trên mình chúa ta, vì người là đấng chịu xức dầu của Đức Giê-hô-va.
11 But, my father, see, yea, see, the corner of thy robe in my hand, —for, in that I cut off the corner of thy robe, and yet did not slay thee, know thou, and see, that there is not in my hand either wrong or transgression, neither have I sinned against thee, yet art thou hunting my life, to take it.
Vậy, cha ôi! hãy xem cái vạt áo tơi cha mà tôi cầm trong tay; bởi vì tôi có vạt ái tơi của cha, mà không giết cha, thì nhân đó khá biết và nhận rằng nơi tôi chẳng có sự ác, hoặc sự phản nghịch, tôi chẳng có phạm tội gì với cha. Còn cha, lại săn mạng sống tôi để cất nó đi. Đức Giê-hô-va sẽ đoán xét cha và tôi.
12 Let Yahweh do justice betwixt me and thee, and let Yahweh avenge me of thee, —but, mine own hand, shall not be upon thee.
Đức Giê-hô-va sẽ báo thù cha cho tôi, nhưng tôi không tra tay vào mình cha.
13 As saith the proverb of the ancients, From the lawless, proceedeth lawlessness, —mine own hand, therefore shall not be upon thee.
Như câu cổ ngữ nói: Sự ác do kẻ ác ra, nhưng tay tôi sẽ không đụng đến mình cha.
14 After whom, hath the king of Israel come forth? After whom, art thou in pursuit? After a dead dog! after a single flea!
Vua Y-sơ-ra-ên kéo ra đánh ai? Cha đuổi theo ai? Một con chó chết! Một con bọ chét!
15 Therefore shall, Yahweh, become, judge, and do justice betwixt me and thee, —that he may see, and plead my cause, and justly deliver me out of thy hand.
Thế thì, Đức Giê-hô-va sẽ làm quan xét, sẽ đoán xét cha và tôi; Ngài sẽ xem xét, binh vực cớ lý tôi, và xử cách công bình mà giải cứu tôi khỏi tay cha.
16 And it came to pass, when David had made an end of speaking these words unto Saul, that Saul said, Thy voice, is this, my son David? And Saul lifted up his voice, and wept.
Khi Đa-vít nói xong các lời nầy, thì Sau-lơ đáp rằng: Hỡi Đa-vít, con ta, có phải tiếng con chăng? Sau-lơ cất tiếng lên khóc,
17 And he said unto David, More righteous, art thou than I, for, thou, hast requited me, good, but, I, have requited thee, evil.
nói cùng Đa-vít rằng: Con thật công bình hơn cha; vì con có lấy điều thiện mà báo điều ác cha đã làm cho con.
18 Thou, then, hast told to-day, how thou hast dealt with me, for good, —how, when Yahweh had surrendered me into thy hand, thou didst not slay me.
Ngày nay, con đã tỏ ra con lấy điều thiện đối cùng cha; vì Đức Giê-hô-va đã phó cha vào tay con, song con không có giết cha.
19 Yet, when a man findeth his enemy, will he let him get easily away? Yahweh, then, give thee, good, reward for what, this day, thou hast done unto me.
Khi người nào gặp kẻ thù nghịch mình, há để cho nó đi bình yên vô sự sao? Nguyện Đức Giê-hô-va lấy điều thiện báo cho con về sự con đã làm cho cha ngày nay!
20 Now, therefore, lo! I know that thou, shalt indeed become king, —and that the kingdom of Israel, shall be established in thy hand.
Quả hẳn ta biết rằng con sẽ làm vua, và nước Y-sơ-ra-ên sẽ bền lâu ở trong tay con.
21 Now, therefore, swear unto me by Yahweh, that thou wilt not eat off my seed, after me, —and wilt not destroy my name out of the house my father.
Vậy bây giờ, hãy nhân danh Đức Giê-hô-va thề cùng ta rằng con sẽ chẳng diệt dòng dõi ta, và chẳng hủy danh ta khỏi nhà tổ phụ ta.
22 So David sware unto Saul, —and Saul departed unto his own house, but, David and his men, went up on the stronghold.
Đa-vít lập lời thề cùng Sau-lơ. Sau-lơ bèn trở về nhà mình; còn Đa-vít và các kẻ theo người trở lên nơi đồn.
