1 Samuel 23
1 Then told they David, saying, —Lo! the Philistines are fighting against Keilah, and they are plundering the threshing-floors.
Người ta đến nói cùng Đa-vít rằng: Kìa, dân Phi-li-tin hãm đánh Kê-i-la, và cướp lấy các sân đạp lúa.
2 So David enquired of Yahweh, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And Yahweh said unto David—Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.
Đa-vít cầu vấn Đức Giê-hô-va mà rằng: Tôi có nên đi đánh người Phi-li-tin nầy chăng? Đức Giê-hô-va đáp cùng Đa-vít rằng: Hãy đi, đánh người Phi-li-tin, và giải cứu Kê-i-la.
3 But the men of David said unto him, Lo! we, here, in Judah, are afraid, —how much more, then, if we go to Keilah, against the ranks of the Philistines?
Song những người theo Đa-vít nói rằng: Chính tại đây, trong xứ Giu-đa, chúng ta sợ hãi thay, phương chi đi đến Kê-i-la mà đánh quân lính Phi-li-tin!
4 So David yet again enquired if Yahweh, and Yahweh answered him, —and said—Arise, go down to Keilah, for I am about to deliver the Philistines into thy hand.
Đa-vít lại cầu vấn Đức Giê-hô-va nữa; Đức Giê-hô-va đáp cùng người rằng: Hãy chổi dậy, đi xuống Kê-i-la; ta sẽ phó dân Phi-li-tin vào tay ngươi.
5 David therefore went, with his men, to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and drave forth their cattle, and smote them, with a great smiting, so David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.
Vậy, Đa-vít đi cùng những kẻ theo mình đến Kê-i-la, đánh dân Phi-li-tin, làm cho chúng phải thua lớn. Aáy Đa-vít giải cứu dân Kê-i-la là như vậy.
6 Now it came to pass, when Abiathar, son of Ahimelech, fled unto David to Keilah, that he came down with, an ephod, in his hand.
Vả, khi A-bia-tha, con trai của A-hi-mê-léc, đi trốn đến cùng Đa-vít tại Kê-i-la, thì có đem theo cái ê-phót.
7 And, when it was told Saul that David had entered Keilah, Saul said—God hath given him over into my hand, for he hath shut himself in by entering into a city with folding doors and bar.
Người ta cho Sau-lơ hay rằng Đa-vít đã vào trong Kê-i-la. Sau-lơ nói: Đức Chúa Trời phó nó vào tay ta, bởi vì nó đã đi giam mình trong thành có cửa có then.
8 So Saul summoned all the people to war, —to go down to Keilah, to besiege David, and his men.
Vậy, Sau-lơ chiêu hết thảy quân lính đặng đi xuống Kê-i-la, vây phủ Đa-vít và những kẻ theo người.
9 And David ascertained that, against him, Saul was contriving mischief, —so he said unto Abiathar the priest, Bring hither the ephod.
Nhưng Đa-vít biết rằng Sau-lơ toan mưu hại mình, thì nói cùng thầy tế lễ A-bia-tha rằng: hãy đem Ê-phót đến.
10 Then said David: O Yahweh, God of Israel, thy servant, hath heard, that Saul is seeking to come unto Keilah, —to destroy the city, for my sake:
Đoạn, người cầu rằng: Lạy Giê-hô-va Đức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên, tôi tớ của Chúa có hay rằng Sau-lơ toan đi đến thành Kê-i-la, đặng phá thành vì cớ tôi.
11 Will the owners of Keilah surrender me into his hand? Will Saul come down, as thy servant hath heard? O Yahweh, God of Israel, I pray thee, tell thy servant. And Yahweh said—He will come down.
Các quan trưởng Kê-i-la sẽ nộp tôi vào tay Sau-lơ chăng? Sau-lơ sẽ đi xuống y như lời tôi tớ Chúa đã nghe nói chăng? Lạy Giê-hô-va Đức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên, xin cho tôi tớ Chúa biết điều đó. Đức Giê-hô-va đáp: Sau-lơ sẽ đi xuống.
12 Then said David, Will the owners of Keilah surrender me and my men, into the hand of Saul? And Yahweh said—They will surrender.
Đa-vít lại hỏi rằng: Các quan trưởng Kê-i-la sẽ nộp tôi và những kẻ theo tôi vào tay Sau-lơ chăng? Đức Giê-hô-va đáp: Chúng nó sẽ nộp các ngươi.
13 Then arose David and his men, about six hundred, and went forth out of Keilah, and went to and fro, whithersoever they could, —and, unto Saul, it was told that David had escaped out of Keilah, so he forbare to go forth.
Bấy giờ, Đa-vít và những kẻ theo mình, ước chừng sáu trăm người, đều đứng dậy đi ra khỏi Kê-i-la, và rút ở nơi nào được thì ở. Sau-lơ hay rằng Đa-vít đã thoát khỏi Kê-i-la, thì bỏ không kéo binh đi.
14 Then David abode in the wilderness, in the fortresses, and he abode in the hill country, in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him continually, but God delivered him not into his hand.
Đa-vít ở trong đồng vắng, trên nơi cao hiểm hóc, tức là ở trên núi tại đồng vắng Xíp. Sau-lơ tìm kiếm người không ngớt; nhưng Đức Chúa Trời chẳng phó người vào tay Sau-lơ.
15 Then David saw that Saul had come out to seek his life, David, being in the wilderness of Ziph, in the thicket.
Đa-vít thấy Sau-lơ đã kéo ra đặng hại mạng sống mình, thì ở lại trong rừng của đồng vắng Xíp.
16 So Jonathan, Saul’s son, arose and went unto David in the thicket, —and strengthened his hand in God;
Bấy giờ, Giô-na-than, con trai của Sau-lơ đứng dậy, đi đến cùng Đa-vít ở trong rừng, làm cho người vững lòng tin cậy nơi Đức Chúa Trời,
17 and said unto him, —Do not fear, for the hand of Saul my father shall not find thee, but, thou, shalt become king over Israel, and, I, shall be, next, unto thee, yea and, Saul my father, knoweth this.
mà rằng: Chớ sợ chi, vì tay của Sau-lơ, cha tôi, sẽ chẳng đụng đến anh đâu. Anh sẽ làm vua Y-sơ-ra-ên, còn tôi sẽ làm tể tướng anh; Sau-lơ, cha tôi, cũng biết rõ điều đó.
18 And they two solemnised a covenant before Yahweh, —and David remained in the thicket, but, Jonathan, departed to his own house.
Hai người cùng lập giao ước tại trước mặt Đức Giê-hô-va; đoạn, Đa-vít ở lại trong rừng, còn Giô-na-than trở về nhà mình.
19 Then came up the Ziphites unto Saul in Gibeah, saying, —Is not David hiding himself with us, in the strongholds in the thicket, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the right of Jeshimon?
Dân Xíp đi lên cùng Sau-lơ tại Ghi-bê-a, mà nói rằng: Đa-vít ẩn giữa chúng tôi, tại nơi đồn trong rừng, trên gò Ha-ki-la, ở về phía nam của đồng vắng.
20 Now, therefore, according to all the desire of thy soul O king, to come down, come! and, ours, [will it be] to surrender him into the hand of the king.
Vậy, hỡi vua, hãy xuống, y theo lòng sở ước của vua; chúng tôi chịu lo nộp hắn vào tay vua.
21 Then said Saul, Blessed, be ye, of Yahweh, —because ye have taken pity upon me.
Sau-lơ đáp: Nguyện Đức Giê-hô-va ban phước cho các ngươi, vì các ngươi có lòng thương xót ta!
22 Go, I pray you, make ready yet further, and get to know and see his place, where may be his track, who hath seen him there, —for it hath been said unto me, Cunning indeed, is, he!
Hãy đi hỏi thăm cho chắc hơn nữa đặng biết và xem xét chỗ hắn trú, và ai đã thấy hắn ở đó; vì người ta có nói rằng hắn rất khôn quỉ.
23 See, then, and get to know—of all the hiding places, where he hideth himself, and return unto me, for certainty, then will I go with you, —and it shall be, if he is in the land, that I will search him out, through all the thousands of Judah.
Vậy, hãy xem xét và biết mọi nơi hắn ẩn, đoạn trở về nói lại cùng ta cho chắc, thì ta sẽ đi cùng các ngươi. Nếu hắn ở trong xứ, thì ta sẽ tìm hắn trong hằng ngàn dân Giu-đa.
24 So they arose and departed to Ziph, before Saul, —but, David and his men, were in the wilderness of Maon, in the Arabah, to the right of Jeshimon.
Vậy, chúng trổi dậy, đi về Xíp trước Sau-lơ; còn Đa-vít và những kẻ theo người ở nơi đồng vắng Ma-ôn, tại A-ra-ba về phía nam Giê-si-môn.
25 Then Saul and his men departed, to seek [him]; but it had been told David, and he had gone down the cliff, and taken up his abode in the wilderness of Maon, —and when Saul had, heard it, he pursued David in the wilderness of Maon.
Sau-lơ và những kẻ theo người đi tìm Đa-vít. Đa-vít hay được điều đó, bèn xuống hòn đá, và ở trong đồng vắng Ma-ôn. Sau-lơ hay được, bèn đuổi theo Đa-vít trong đồng vắng Ma-ôn.
26 And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and, David and his men, on that side of the mountain, —wherefore David became hurried, to get away from the presence of Saul, but, Saul and his men, were surrounding David and his men, to capture then:
Sau-lơ đi sườn núi bên nầy, còn Đa-vít và bọn theo người đi sườn núi bên kia. Đa-vít vội vàng chạy trốn đặng thoát khỏi Sau-lơ. Nhưng lúc Sau-lơ và các đầy tớ bao phủ Đa-vít và bọn theo người đặng hãm bắt,
27 when, a messenger, came unto Saul, saying, —Haste thee and come! for the Philistines have spread over the land.
thì có một sứ giả đến cùng Sau-lơ mà nói rằng: Hãy mau mau trở về, vì dân Phi-li-tin đã xâm phạm xứ ta.
28 Then returned Saul from pursuing David, and departed to meet the Philistines, —for which cause, they called that place Sela-hammahlekoth ["the Cliff of Separation"].
Vậy, Sau-lơ thôi đuổi theo Đa-vít, đi đánh dân Phi-li-tin. Bởi cớ ấy, người ta gọi chỗ nầy là Hòn Đá Phân rẽ.
29 And David went up from thence, —and abode in the strongholds of En-gedi.
Đoạn, Đa-vít đi lên khỏi đó, ngụ tại trong đồn Eân-ghê-đi.
