Psalms 112

1 Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.

Halleluja! Wohl dem Menschen, der den HERRN fürchtet, an seinen Geboten herzliche Freude hat!

2 His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.

Seine Nachkommen werden im Lande gewaltig sein, als ein Geschlecht von Frommen wird man sie segnen.

3 Wealth and riches are in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever.

Wohlstand und Fülle herrscht in seinem Hause, und seine Gerechtigkeit besteht für immer.

4 Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: [he is] gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.

Den Frommen geht er auf wie ein Licht in der Finsternis, als gnädig, barmherzig und gerecht.

5 Well is it with the man that dealeth graciously and lendeth; he shall maintain his cause in judgment.

Glücklich der Mann, der Barmherzigkeit übt und darleiht! Er wird sein Recht behaupten vor Gericht;

6 For he shall never be moved; the righteous shall be had in everlasting remembrance.

denn nimmermehr wird er wanken: in ew’gem Gedächtnis bleibt der Gerechte.

7 He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.

Vor bösem Leumund braucht er sich nicht zu fürchten; sein Herz ist fest, voll Vertraun auf den HERRN.

8 His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see [his desire] upon his adversaries.

Getrost ist sein Herz, er fürchtet sich nicht, bis er sieht seine Lust an seinen Bedrängern.

9 He hath dispersed, he hath given to the needy; his righteousness endureth for ever: his horn shall be exalted with honour.

Reichlich teilt er aus und spendet den Armen; seine Gerechtigkeit besteht fest für immer, sein Horn ragt hoch empor in Ehren.

10 The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: the desire of the wicked shall perish.

Der Gottlose sieht es und ärgert sich; er knirscht mit den Zähnen und vergeht; der Gottlosen Wünsche bleiben unerfüllt.
