Psalms 82

1 A psalm of Asaph. God has taken his stand in the divine assembly: in the midst of the gods he holds judgment.

Ein Psalm Asafs. / Elohim tritt auf in der Gottesgemeinde, / Unter den "Göttern" hält er Gericht:

2 ‘How long will you crookedly judge, and favour the wicked? (Selah)

"Wie lange wollt ihr ungerecht richten / Und Partei für die Frevler nehmen? (Sela)

3 Do right by the weak and the orphan, acquit the innocent poor.

Des Geringen, der Waise nehmt euch an, / Dem Gedrückten und Dürftigen schaffet Recht!

4 Rescue the weak and the needy, save them from the hand of the wicked.

Befreit den Geringen und Armen, / Aus der Frevler Händen errettet ihn!

5 ‘They have neither knowledge nor insight, in darkness they walk to and fro, while the earth’s foundations totter.

Doch sie erkennen's nicht, sehen's nicht ein, / Sie gehen verblendet dahin — / Drum wanken auch alle Grundfesten des Landes.

6 It was I who appointed you gods, children of the Most High all of you.

Ich hab zwar gesagt: 'Götter seid ihr / Und Söhne des Höchsten ihr alle.'

7 Yet like mortals you will surely die, you will fall like any prince.’

Doch wahrlich, wie Menschen werdet ihr sterben, / Fallen wie einer der Fürsten."

8 Arise, O God, judge the earth, for all nations are yours by inheritance.

Auf, Elohim, richte die Erde! / Denn alle Völker sind dein Besitz.
