Matthew 5
1 On seeing the crowds of people, Jesus went up the hill; and, when he had taken his seat, his disciples came up to him;
இயேசு திரளான ஜனங்களைக் கண்டபோது, ஒரு மலைச்சரிவில் ஏறி அங்கே உட்கார்ந்தார். அப்பொழுது அவரது சீடர்கள் அவரருகே வந்தார்கள்,
2 and he began to teach them, saying:
இயேசு அவர்களுக்குப் போதிக்கத் தொடங்கினார். அவர் சொன்னதாவது:
3 ‘Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
“ஆவியில் எளிமையுள்ளோர் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவர்கள், பரலோக அரசு அவர்களுக்கு உரியது.
4 Blessed are the mourners, for they will be comforted.
துயரப்படுகிறவர்கள் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவர்கள், அவர்கள் ஆறுதல் அடைவார்கள்.
5 Blessed are the gentle, for they will inherit the earth.
சாந்தமுள்ளவர்கள் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவர்கள், அவர்கள் பூமியை உரிமையாக்கிக்கொள்வார்கள்.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.
நீதியை நிலைநாட்ட பசி தாகம் உள்ளவர்கள் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவர்கள், அவர்கள் நிறைவு பெறுவார்கள்.
7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will find mercy.
இரக்கம் நிறைந்தவர்கள் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவர்கள், அவர்கள் இரக்கம் பெறுவார்கள்.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
இருதயத்தில் தூய்மை உள்ளவர்கள் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவர்கள், அவர்கள் இறைவனைக் காண்பார்கள்.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
சமாதானம் செய்கிறவர்கள் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவர்கள், அவர்கள் இறைவனின் பிள்ளைகள் என அழைக்கப்படுவார்கள்.
10 Blessed are those who have been persecuted in the cause of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
நீதியின் நிமித்தம் துன்புறுத்தப்படுகிறவர்கள் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவர்கள், பரலோக அரசு அவர்களுக்குரியதே.
11 ‘Blessed are you when people insult you, and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil lies about you because of me.
“என் நிமித்தம் மனிதர் உங்களை இகழும்போதும், துன்புறுத்தும்போதும், உங்களுக்கு எதிராகப் பலவிதமான பொய்களைச் சொல்லி தீமைகளை விளைவிக்கும்போதும், நீங்கள் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவர்களாய் இருப்பீர்கள்.
12 Be glad and rejoice, because your reward in heaven will be great; this is the way they persecuted the prophets who lived before you.
மகிழ்ந்து களிகூருங்கள், பரலோகத்தில் உங்கள் வெகுமதி மிகப்பெரிதாய் இருக்கும். ஏனெனில், இதைப்போலவே உங்களுக்கு முன்னிருந்த இறைவாக்கினரையும் அவர்கள் துன்புறுத்தினார்கள்.
13 ‘You are salt for the world. But if salt becomes tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, but is thrown away, and trampled underfoot.
“நீங்கள் பூமியிலுள்ளோருக்கு உப்பாக இருக்கிறீர்கள். ஆனால் உப்பு அதன் உவர்ப்புத் தன்மையை இழந்துபோனால், மீண்டும் அதை எப்படி உவர்ப்பு உடையதாக்க முடியும்? அது வேறொன்றுக்கும் பயன்படாது, வெளியே வீசப்பட்டு மனிதரால் மிதிக்கப்படும்.
14 It is you who are the light of the world. A town that stands on a hill cannot be hidden.
“நீங்கள் உலகத்துக்கு வெளிச்சமாயிருக்கிறீர்கள். ஒரு குன்றின்மேல் உள்ள பட்டணம் மறைவாயிருக்காது.
15 People do not light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lamp-stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house.
மக்கள் விளக்கைக் கொளுத்தி அதை ஒரு பாத்திரத்தினால் மூடி வைக்கமாட்டார்களே. அவர்கள் அதை விளக்குத்தண்டின் மேல் உயர்த்தி வைப்பார்கள், அப்பொழுது அது வீட்டிலுள்ள எல்லோருக்கும் வெளிச்சத்தைக் கொடுக்கும்.
16 Let your light so shine before the eyes of others so that, seeing your good actions, they will praise your Father who is in heaven.
அதைப் போலவே, உங்கள் வெளிச்சம் மனிதர் முன் பிரகாசிக்கட்டும், அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் உங்கள் நல்ல செயல்களைக் கண்டு, பரலோகத்திலுள்ள உங்கள் பிதாவை மகிமைப்படுத்துவார்கள்.
17 ‘Do not think that I have come to do away with the Law or the prophets; I have not come to do away with them, but to complete them.
“நான் மோசேயின் சட்டத்தையும், இறைவாக்குகளையும் அழிக்க வந்தேன் என நினைக்கவேண்டாம்; நான் அவற்றை அழிக்க அல்ல நிறைவேற்றவே வந்தேன்.
18 For I tell you, until the heavens and the earth disappear, not even the smallest letter, nor one stroke of a letter, will disappear from the Law until all is done.
நான் உங்களுக்கு உண்மையைச் சொல்கிறேன், வானமும் பூமியும் அழிந்துபோனாலும், மோசேயின் சட்டத்தில் உள்ள ஒவ்வொன்றும் நிறைவேறும் வரைக்கும், அதில் உள்ள மிகச்சிறிய எழுத்தோ, எழுத்தின் சிறிய புள்ளியோ அழிந்துபோகாது.
19 Whoever, therefore, breaks one of these commandments, even the least of them, and teaches others to do so, will be the least esteemed in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps them, and teaches others to do so, will be esteemed great in the kingdom of heaven.
இந்தக் கட்டளைகளில் சிறிதான ஒன்றையாகிலும் மீறி, அப்படிச் செய்யும்படி மற்றவர்களுக்கு போதிக்கிறவன், பரலோக அரசில் சிறியவன் எனக் கருதப்படுவான்; ஆனால் இந்தக் கட்டளைகளை தானும் கடைப்பிடித்து, மற்றவர்களுக்கும் போதிக்கிறவன் பரலோக அரசில் பெரியவன் எனக் கருதப்படுவான்.
20 Indeed I tell you that, unless you obey God’s commands better than of the teachers of the Law, and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன் உங்களுடைய நீதியானது, பரிசேயர் மற்றும் மோசேயின் சட்ட ஆசிரியர்களின் நீதியைவிட மேலானதாய் இருக்கவேண்டும், இல்லையென்றால் நீங்கள் பரலோக அரசிற்குள் செல்லமாட்டீர்கள்.
21 ‘You have heard that to our ancestors it was said – “You must not commit murder,” and “Whoever commits murder will be brought to trial.”
“கொலை செய்யாதே, கொலை செய்கிறவன் தண்டனைத் தீர்ப்புக்கு உட்படுவான் என்று வெகுகாலத்திற்கு முன்னரே சொல்லப்பட்டிருப்பதை நீங்கள் கேள்விப்பட்டிருக்கிறீர்கள்.
22 But I say to you that anyone who is angry at their brother or sister will be brought to trial; and whoever insults their brother or sister will be brought before the High Council, while whoever calls them a fool will be in danger of the fires of Gehenna. (Geenna g1067)
ஆனால் நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன், யாராவது தனது சகோதரன் அல்லது சகோதரியுடன் கோபப்பட்டால், அவர்கள் தண்டனைத் தீர்ப்புக்கு உட்படுவார்கள். மேலும், தனது சகோதரனை அல்லது சகோதரியை ‘பயித்தியம்!’ என்று சொல்கிறவர்கள் ஆலோசனைச் சங்கத்திற்குப் பதிற்சொல்ல வேண்டியதாயிருக்கும். ஆனால் யாரையாவது, ‘முட்டாள்!’ என்று சொல்லுகிறவர்கள், நரகத்தின் நெருப்புக்குள்ளாகும் அபாயத்திலிருக்கிறார்கள். 23 Therefore, when presenting your gift at the altar, if even there you remember that your brother or sister has something against you,
“அதனால், நீங்கள் உங்கள் காணிக்கையைப் பலிபீடத்தில் செலுத்தும்போது, உங்கள் சகோதரனுக்கோ அல்லது சகோதரிக்கோ உங்கள்மேல் ஏதாவது மனத்தாங்கல் இருப்பது நினைவுக்கு வந்தால்,
24 leave your gift there, before the altar, go and be reconciled to them, first, then come and present your gift.
பலிபீடத்தின் முன்னே உங்கள் காணிக்கையை வைத்துவிட்டு, முதலில் போய் உங்கள் சகோதரனுடன் அல்லது சகோதரியுடன் ஒப்புரவாகுங்கள்; அதற்குப் பின்பு வந்து உங்களது காணிக்கையைச் செலுத்துங்கள்.
25 Be ready to make friends with your opponent, even when you meet them on your way to the court; otherwise they might hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the judicial officer, and you will be thrown into prison.
“உங்களது பகைவர் உங்களை நீதிமன்றத்துக்குக் கொண்டுபோகும்போது. வழியிலேயே அவர்களோடு விரைவாகப் பிரச்சனைகளைத் தீர்த்துக்கொள்ள முயற்சி செய்யுங்கள், இல்லையெனில், அவர்கள் உங்களை நீதிபதியிடம் ஒப்படைக்கக்கூடும், நீதிபதி உங்களை அதிகாரியிடம் ஒப்படைக்க, நீங்கள் சிறையில் தள்ளப்படலாம்.
26 I tell you, you will not come out until you have paid the last cent.
உங்களிடத்திலிருக்கும், கடைசி காசையும் செலுத்தித் தீர்க்கும்வரை நீங்கள் வெளியே வரமாட்டீர்கள் என்று நான் உங்களுக்கு உண்மையாய்ச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.
27 ‘You have heard that it was said – “You must not commit adultery.”
“‘விபசாரம் செய்யாதே’ எனச் சொல்லப்பட்டிருப்பதை, நீங்கள் கேள்விப்பட்டிருக்கிறீர்கள்.
28 But I say to you that anyone who looks at a woman and desires her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
ஆனால் நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன், யாராவது ஒருவன் ஒரு பெண்ணைக் காம இச்சையுடன் பார்த்தாலே, அவன் அவளுடன் அப்போதே தன் இருதயத்தில் விபசாரம் செய்தவனாகிறான்.
29 If your right eye causes you to sin, take it out and throw it away. It would be best for you to lose one part of your body, and not to have the whole of it thrown into Gehenna. (Geenna g1067)
உனது வலது கண் உன்னைப் பாவம் செய்யத் தூண்டினால், அதைத்தோண்டி எறிந்துவிடு. உனது முழு உடலும் நரகத்தில் எறியப்படுவதைப் பார்க்கிலும், உனது உடலில் ஒரு பகுதியை நீ இழப்பது நல்லது. (Geenna g1067)
30 And, if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It would be best for you to lose one part of your body, and not to have the whole of it go down to Gehenna. (Geenna g1067)
உனது வலதுகை உன்னைப் பாவம் செய்யத் தூண்டினால், அதை வெட்டி எறிந்துபோடு. உனது முழு உடலும் நரகத்துக்குள் போவதைப் பார்க்கிலும், உடலின் ஒரு பகுதியை நீ இழப்பது உனக்கு நல்லது. (Geenna g1067)
31 ‘It was also said – “Let anyone who divorces his wife serve her with a notice of separation.”
“தனது மனைவியை விவாகரத்து செய்கிறவன், ‘அவளுக்கு விவாகரத்துப் பத்திரத்தைக் கொடுக்கவேண்டும் என்று சொல்லப்பட்டிருக்கிறது.’
32 But I say to you that anyone who divorces his wife, except on the ground of some serious sexual sin, leads to her committing adultery; while anyone who marries her after her divorce is guilty of adultery.
ஆனால் நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன் யாராவது ஒருவன், தன் மனைவி விபசாரம் செய்ததினாலன்றி, வேறெந்த காரணத்திற்காகவும் அவளை விவாகரத்து செய்தால், அவன் அவளை விபசாரத்துக்குள்ளாக்குகிறான். விவாகரத்து செய்யப்பட்ட பெண்ணைத் திருமணம் செய்பவனும் விபசாரம் செய்கிறான்.
33 Again, you have heard that our ancestors were told – “Do not break your oaths, keep your vows to the Lord.”
“மேலும், ‘நீங்கள் ஆணையிட்டதை மீற வேண்டாம், கர்த்தருடன் செய்துகொண்ட ஆணைகளை நிறைவேற்றுங்கள் என்று, வெகுகாலத்திற்கு முன்னே முன்னோர்களுக்குச் சொல்லப்பட்டதை நீங்கள் கேள்விப்பட்டிருக்கிறீர்கள்.’
34 But I say to you that you must not swear at all, either by heaven, since that is God’s throne,
ஆனால் நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன், நீங்கள் ஒருபோதும் ஆணையிட வேண்டாம்: பரலோகத்தின்மேல் ஆணையிட வேண்டாம், ஏனெனில் அது இறைவனின் அரியணை;
35 or by the earth, since that is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, since that is the city of the Great King.
பூமியின்மேலும் ஆணையிட வேண்டாம், ஏனெனில் அது இறைவனின் பாதபீடம்; எருசலேமைக்கொண்டும் ஆணையிட வேண்டாம், ஏனெனில், அது பேரரசரின் பட்டணம்.
36 Nor should you swear by your head, since you cannot make a single hair either white or black.
உங்கள் தலையில் கை வைத்தும் ஆணையிட வேண்டாம், ஏனெனில் உங்களால் ஒரு தலைமுடியையாகிலும் வெண்மையாக்கவோ, கருமையாக்கவோ முடியாதே.
37 Let your words be simply “Yes” or “No”; anything beyond this comes from what is evil.
ஆகவே உங்களிடமிருந்து வரும் பதில், ‘ஆம்’ என்றால் ‘ஆம்’ என்றும், ‘இல்லை’ என்றால் ‘இல்லை’ என்றும் இருக்கட்டும்; இதற்கு மேலாக வருவதெல்லாம் தீயவனிடமிருந்தே வருகிறது.
38 ‘You have heard that it was said – “An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.”
“கண்ணுக்குக் கண், பல்லுக்குப் பல் என்று சொல்லப்பட்டிருப்பதைக் கேள்விப்பட்டிருக்கிறீர்கள்.
39 But I say to you that you must not resist those who wrong you; but, if anyone strikes you on the right cheek, turn the other to them also.
ஆனால் நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன், நீங்கள் உங்களை எதிர்க்கும் தீய நபருடன் போராட வேண்டாம். யாராவது உங்களை வலது கன்னத்தில் அறைந்தால், அவருக்கு மறு கன்னத்தையும் திருப்பிக் காட்டுங்கள்.
40 If someone sues you for your shirt, let them have your cloak as well.
யாராவது உங்களுடன் வழக்காடி, உங்கள் ஆடையை எடுத்துக்கொள்ளுகிறவருக்கு, உங்கள் மேலுடையையும் கொடுத்துவிடுங்கள்.
41 If you are forced to carry a soldier’s pack for one mile, carry it two.
யாராவது உங்களை ஒரு கிலோமீட்டர் தூரம் வரும்படி வற்புறுத்தினால், அந்த நபரோடு இரண்டு கிலோமீட்டர் தூரம் செல்லுங்கள்.
42 Give to anyone who asks and, if someone wants to borrow from you, do not turn them away.
உங்களிடத்தில் கேட்கிறவருக்குக் கொடுங்கள், உங்களிடம் கடன்வாங்க விரும்புகிறவரிடமிருந்து விலகிச்செல்ல வேண்டாம்.
43 You have heard that it was said – “You must love your neighbour and hate your enemy.”
“உங்கள் அயலானிடம் அன்பாயிருங்கள், உங்கள் பகைவனுக்குப் பகையைக் காட்டுங்கள் என்று சொல்லப்பட்டிருப்பதைக் கேள்விப்பட்டிருக்கிறீர்கள்.
44 But what I tell you is this: love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you,
ஆனால் நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன், உங்கள் பகைவர்களுக்கு அன்பு காட்டுங்கள். உங்களைத் துன்புறுத்துகிறவர்களுக்காக மன்றாடுங்கள்.
45 so that you may become children of your Father who is in heaven; for he causes his sun to rise on bad and good alike, and sends rain on the righteous and on the unrighteous.
இப்படிச் செய்வதினால் நீங்கள் பரலோகத்தில் இருக்கும் உங்கள் பிதாவுக்குப் பிள்ளைகளாய் இருப்பீர்கள். அவர் தீயவர்மேலும், நல்லவர்மேலும் தமது சூரியனை உதிக்கச் செய்கிறார். நீதியுள்ளவர்மேலும், அநீதியுள்ளவர்மேலும் மழையை அனுப்புகிறார்.
46 For, if you love only those who love you, what reward will you have? Even the tax collectors do this!
உங்களிடம் அன்பாய் இருக்கிறவர்களிடத்தில் நீங்களும் அன்பாய் இருந்தால், நீங்கள் பெறும் வெகுமதி என்ன? வரி வசூலிப்பவரும்கூட அப்படிச் செய்வதில்லையா?
47 And, if you only welcome your brothers and sisters, what are you doing more than others? Even the Gentiles do this!
நீங்கள் உங்கள் சொந்தக்காரர்களை மட்டும் வாழ்த்துவீர்களானால் நீங்கள் மற்றவர்களைப் பார்க்கிலும் மேலாகச் செய்வது என்ன? இறைவனை அறியாதவர்கூட அப்படிச் செய்வதில்லையா?
48 You, then, must become perfect – as your heavenly Father is perfect.
உங்கள் பரலோகப் பிதா நிறைவுடையவராய் இருக்கிறதுபோல, நீங்களும் நிறைவுடையவர்களாய் இருங்கள்.
