Matthew 4
1 Then Jesus was led up into the wilderness by the Spirit to be tempted by the devil.
அதற்குப் பின்பு இயேசு பிசாசினால் சோதிக்கப்படுவதற்காக ஆவியானவராலே பாலைவனத்துக்கு வழிநடத்தப்பட்டார்.
2 And, after he had fasted for forty days and forty nights, he became hungry.
இயேசு இரவு பகல் நாற்பது நாட்கள் உபவாசித்து முடித்தபின், பசியாயிருந்தார்.
3 The Tempter came to him, and said: ‘If you are God’s Son, tell these stones to become loaves of bread.’
சோதனைக்காரன் இயேசுவினிடத்தில் வந்து, “நீர் இறைவனின் மகன் என்றால், இந்தக் கற்களிடம் அப்பமாகும்படி சொல்லும்” என்றான்.
4 But Jesus answered, ‘Scripture says – “It is not on bread alone that a person is to live, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”’
அதற்கு இயேசு, “‘மனிதன் அப்பத்தினால் மட்டுமல்ல, இறைவனுடைய வாயிலிருந்து வரும் ஒவ்வொரு வார்த்தையினாலும் வாழ்வான்’ என்று எழுதப்பட்டிருக்கிறது” எனப் பதிலளித்தார்.
5 Then the devil took him to the Holy City, and, placing him on the parapet of the temple, said to him,
பின்பு சாத்தான் அவரைப் பரிசுத்த நகரத்திற்குக் கொண்டுபோய், ஆலயத்தின் மிக உயரமான முனையில் நிற்கச் செய்தான்.
6 ‘If you are God’s Son, throw yourself down, for scripture says – “He will give his angels commands about you, and on their hands they will lift you up, so you do not even strike your foot against a stone.”’
அவன், “நீர் இறைவனுடைய மகனானால் கீழே குதியும். ஏனெனில்: “‘இறைவன் தமது தூதர்களுக்கு உம்மைக் குறித்துக் கட்டளையிடுவார். உமது கால்கள் கல்லில் மோதாதபடி, அவர்கள் உம்மைத் தமது கரங்களில் தாங்கிக்கொள்வார்கள் என்று எழுதியிருக்கிறதே,’” என்றான்.
7 ‘Scripture also says,’ answered Jesus, ‘“You must not tempt the Lord your God.”’
அதற்கு இயேசு, “உனது இறைவனாகிய கர்த்தரைச் சோதிக்க வேண்டாம் என்றும் எழுதியிருக்கிறதே” எனப் பதிலளித்தார்.
8 The third time, the devil took Jesus to a very high mountain, and, showing him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendour, said to him:
மீண்டும், சாத்தான் அவரை மிக உயரமான மலைக்குக் கொண்டுபோனான் அங்கிருந்து உலகத்தின் எல்லா அரசுகளையும் அவற்றின் மகிமையையும் அவருக்குக் காண்பித்தான்.
9 ‘All these I will give you, if you will fall at my feet and worship me.’
“நீர் என்னை விழுந்து வணங்கினால், இவை எல்லாவற்றையும் நான் உமக்குத் தருவேன் என்றான்.”
10 Then Jesus said to him, ‘Go away, Satan! For scripture says – “You must worship the Lord your God, and worship him only.”’
இயேசு அவனிடம், “சாத்தானே, என்னைவிட்டு அப்பாலே போ! ‘உனது இறைவனாகிய கர்த்தரை வழிபட்டு, அவர் ஒருவரையே பணிந்துகொள்’” என்றும் எழுதியிருக்கிறது என்று சொன்னார்.
11 Then the devil left him alone, and angels came and helped him.
அப்பொழுது சாத்தான் அவரைவிட்டுச் சென்றான், தூதர்கள் வந்து இயேசுவுக்குப் பணிவிடை செய்தார்கள்.
12 When Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he returned to Galilee.
யோவான் சிறையில் அடைக்கப்பட்டதை இயேசு கேள்விப்பட்டபோது, அவர் கலிலேயாவுக்குத் திரும்பி வந்தார்.
13 Afterwards, leaving Nazareth, he went and settled at Capernaum, which is by the side of the sea, within the borders of Zebulun and Naphtali;
அவர் நாசரேத்தை விட்டு கப்பர்நகூமுக்குப் போய், அங்கே வாழ்ந்தார், அது செபுலோன், நப்தலி பகுதிகளிலுள்ள கடற்கரைக்கு அருகே இருந்தது.
14 in fulfilment of these words in the prophet Isaiah –
இறைவாக்கினன் ஏசாயா மூலமாய்:
15 “The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, the land of the Road by the sea, and beyond the Jordan, with Galilee of the Gentiles –
“செபுலோன் நாடே, நப்தலி நாடே, யோர்தானின் மறுபக்கமாக கடலுக்குப் போகும் வழியே, யூதரல்லாதவர் வாழும் கலிலேயாவிலே,
16 The people who were living in darkness have seen a great light, and, for those who were living in the shadow-land of death, a light has dawned!”
இருளில் வாழும் மக்கள் பேரொளியைக் கண்டார்கள்; மரண இருள்சூழ்ந்த நாட்டில் வாழ்வோர்மேல் வெளிச்சம் பிரகாசித்தது,” என்று சொல்லப்பட்டவை நிறைவேறும்படியே இப்படி நடந்தது.
17 At that time Jesus began to proclaim – ‘Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.’
அந்த வேளையிலிருந்து இயேசு, “மனந்திரும்புங்கள், பரலோக அரசு சமீபித்திருக்கிறது” என்று பிரசங்கிக்கத் தொடங்கினார்.
18 As Jesus was walking along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers – Simon, also known as Peter, and his brother Andrew – casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.
இயேசு கலிலேயா கடற்கரையில் நடந்து போகும்போது, பேதுரு என அழைக்கப்பட்ட சீமோன், அவன் சகோதரன் அந்திரேயா ஆகிய இரண்டு சகோதரரைக் கண்டார். மீனவர்களான அவர்கள் கடலில் வலை வீசிக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.
19 ‘Come and follow me,’ Jesus said, ‘and I will teach you to fish for people.’
இயேசு அவர்களிடம், “வாருங்கள், என்னைப் பின்பற்றுங்கள். நான் உங்களை இறைவனுடைய வழியில் மனிதரை நடத்துகிறவர்களாக மாற்றுவேன்” என்றார்.
20 The two men left their nets at once and followed him.
உடனே அவர்கள் தங்கள் வலைகளை விட்டுவிட்டு இயேசுவைப் பின்பற்றினார்கள்.
21 Going further on, he saw two other men who were also brothers, James, Zebedee’s son, and his brother John, in their boat with their father, mending their nets. Jesus called them,
இயேசு அங்கேயிருந்து போய்க்கொண்டிருக்கையில், வேறு இரண்டு சகோதரர்களான செபெதேயுவின் மகன் யாக்கோபையும், அவனுடைய சகோதரன் யோவானையும் கண்டார். அவர்கள் தங்கள் தகப்பன் செபதேயுவுடன் ஒரு படகில் இருந்து, தங்கள் வலைகளை ஆயத்தப்படுத்திக் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள். இயேசு அவர்களையும் கூப்பிட்டார்.
22 and they at once left their boat and their father, and followed him.
உடனே அவர்கள் படகையும், தங்கள் தகப்பனையும் விட்டுவிட்டு இயேசுவைப் பின்பற்றினார்கள்.
23 Jesus went all through Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and curing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness among the people;
இயேசு கலிலேயா முழுவதும் சென்று, யூதரின் ஜெப ஆலயங்களில் போதித்து, பரலோக அரசின் நற்செய்தியைப் பிரசங்கித்தார், மக்களுக்கு இருந்த எல்லா விதமான வியாதிகளையும் நோய்களையும் குணமாக்கினார்.
24 and his fame spread all through Syria. They brought to him all who were ill with any form of disease, or who were suffering pain – any who were either possessed by demons, or were lunatic, or paralysed; and he cured them.
இயேசுவைப்பற்றிய செய்தி, சீரியா முழுவதும் பரவியது. மக்கள் அவரிடம், பல்வேறு பிணிகளாலும் வாதைகளாலும் வேதனையுற்ற நோயாளிகளையும், தீய ஆவி பிடித்தவர்களையும், வலிப்பு உள்ளவர்களையும், முடக்குவாதம் உள்ளவர்களையும் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்; இயேசு அவர்களைக் குணமாக்கினார்.
25 He was followed by large crowds from Galilee, the district of the Ten Towns, Jerusalem, Judea, and from beyond the Jordan.
கலிலேயா, தெக்கப்போலி எருசலேம், யூதேயா மற்றும் யோர்தானுக்கு மறுபக்கத்திலுமிருந்து பெருந்திரளான மக்கள் இயேசுவைப் பின்தொடர்ந்தார்கள்.
