Matthew 22
1 Once more Jesus spoke to them in parables.
Isus, răspunzând, le-a vorbit iarăși în pilde, zicând:
2 ‘The kingdom of heaven,’ he said, ‘may be compared to a king who gave a banquet in honour of his son’s wedding.
“Împărăția cerurilor se aseamănă cu un împărat care a făcut un ospăț de nuntă pentru fiul său
3 He sent his servants to call those who had been invited to the banquet, but they were unwilling to come.
și a trimis pe slujitorii săi să cheme pe cei invitați la nuntă, dar aceștia n-au vrut să vină.
4 A second time he sent some servants, with orders to say to those who had been invited “I have prepared my meal, my cattle and fat beasts are killed and everything is ready; come to the banquet.”
A trimis din nou alți slujitori, spunând: “Spuneți-le celor care sunt invitați: “Iată, am pregătit cina mea. Vitele și îngrășămintele mele sunt ucise și toate lucrurile sunt gata. Veniți la ospățul de nuntă!””'”.
5 They, however, took no notice, but went off, one to their farm, another to their business;
Dar ei au luat totul în derâdere și au plecat, unul la ferma lui, altul la marfa lui;
6 while the rest, seizing his servants, ill-treated them and killed them.
iar ceilalți i-au înșfăcat slujitorii, i-au tratat cu rușine și i-au ucis.
7 The king, in anger, sent his troops, put those murderers to death, and set their city on fire.
Când a auzit asta, regele s-a înfuriat și și-a trimis armatele, i-a nimicit pe acei ucigași și le-a ars cetatea.
8 Then he said to his servants “The banquet is prepared, but those who were invited were not worthy.
Și a zis robilor săi: “Nunta este gata, dar cei ce au fost invitați nu au fost vrednici.
9 So go to the cross-roads, and invite everyone you find to the banquet.”
Duceți-vă, așadar, la intersecțiile drumurilor și, pe câți veți găsi, invitați-i la nuntă'.
10 The servants went out into the roads and collected all the people whom they found, whether bad or good; and the bridal-hall was filled with guests.
Slujitorii aceia au ieșit pe drumuri și au adunat pe câți au găsit, atât pe cei răi, cât și pe cei buni. Nunta s-a umplut de invitați.
11 But, when the king went in to see his guests, he noticed there a man who had not put on a wedding-robe.
Dar când a intrat regele să vadă oaspeții, a văzut acolo un om care nu avea haine de nuntă,
12 So he said to him “My friend, how is it that you came in here without a wedding-robe?” The man was speechless.
și l-a întrebat: “Prietene, cum ai intrat aici fără haine de nuntă?” El a rămas fără cuvinte.
13 Then the king said to the attendants “Tie him hand and foot, and put him out into the darkness outside, where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.”
Atunci regele a zis slujitorilor: “Legați-l de mâini și de picioare, luați-l și aruncați-l în întunericul de afară. Acolo va fi plânsul și scrâșnitul dinților”.
14 For many are called, but few chosen.’
Căci mulți sunt chemați, dar puțini sunt aleși.”
15 Then the Pharisees went away and conferred together as to how they might lay a trap for Jesus in the course of conversation.
Atunci fariseii s-au dus și s-au sfătuit cum să-l prindă în discuția lui.
16 They sent their disciples, with the Herodians, to say to him, ‘Teacher, we know that you are an honest person, and that you teach the way of God honestly, and are not afraid of anyone; for you pay no regard to a person’s position.
Și au trimis la el pe ucenicii lor și pe Irodieni, zicând: “Învățătorule, știm că ești cinstit și că înveți calea lui Dumnezeu cu adevărat, indiferent pe cine înveți, pentru că nu ești părtinitor față de nimeni.
17 Tell us, then, what you think. Are we right in paying taxes to the Emperor, or not?’
Spuneți-ne, așadar, ce credeți? Este sau nu legitim să plătim impozite Cezarului?”
18 Perceiving their malice, Jesus answered, ‘Why are you testing me, you hypocrites?
Dar Isus, înțelegând răutatea lor, a zis: “Pentru ce Mă încercați, fățarnicilor?
19 Show me the coin with which the tax is paid.’ And, when they had brought him a coin,
Arătați-Mi banii de impozit.” I-au adus un denar.
20 he asked, ‘Whose head and title are these?’
Și i-a întrebat: “Al cui este chipul acesta și inscripția aceasta?”
21 ‘The Emperor’s,’ they answered, at which he said to them, ‘Then pay to the Emperor what belongs to the Emperor, and to God what belongs to God.’
Ei i-au zis: “Al Cezarului”. Apoi le-a zis: “Dați deci Cezarului ce este al Cezarului și lui Dumnezeu ce este al lui Dumnezeu”.
22 They wondered at his answer, and left him alone and went away.
Când au auzit, s-au mirat, L-au lăsat și au plecat.
23 That same day some Sadducees came up to Jesus, maintaining that there is no resurrection. Their question was this, –
În ziua aceea au venit la El saducheii, care zic că nu există înviere. L-au întrebat
24 ‘Teacher, Moses said – “should a man die without children, the man’s brother will become the husband of the widow, and raise a family for his brother.”
și i-au zis: “Învățătorule, Moise a zis: “Dacă un om moare fără să aibă copii, fratele său să se căsătorească cu femeia lui și să ridice urmași fratelui său.
25 Now we had living among us seven brothers; of whom the eldest married and died, and, as he had no family, left his wife for his brother.
Or, erau cu noi șapte frați. Cel dintâi s-a căsătorit și a murit și, neavând urmași, și-a lăsat soția fratelui său.
26 The same thing happened to the second and the third brothers, and indeed to all the seven.
La fel, și al doilea, și al treilea, până la al șaptelea.
27 The woman herself died last of all.
După ei toți, femeia a murit.
28 At the resurrection, then, whose wife will she be out of the seven, all of them having been married to her?’
La înviere, așadar, a cui va fi soția dintre cei șapte? Căci toți au avut-o.”
29 ‘Your mistake,’ replied Jesus, ‘is due to your ignorance of the scriptures, and of the power of God.
Dar Isus le-a răspuns: “Vă înșelați, căci nu cunoașteți Scripturile și nu știți puterea lui Dumnezeu.
30 For at the resurrection there is no marrying or being married, but all who rise are as angels in heaven.
Căci la înviere nu se căsătoresc și nici nu sunt dați în căsătorie, ci sunt ca îngerii lui Dumnezeu în ceruri.
31 As to the resurrection of the dead, have you not read these words of God –
Dar, în ce privește învierea morților, nu ați citit ce v-a spus Dumnezeu, când a zis:
32 “I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob”? He is not the God of dead people, but of living.’
“Eu sunt Dumnezeul lui Avraam, Dumnezeul lui Isaac și Dumnezeul lui Iacov”? Dumnezeu nu este Dumnezeul morților, ci al celor vii.”
33 The crowds, who had been listening to him, were greatly struck with his teaching.
Când au auzit mulțimile, au rămas uimite de învățătura lui.
34 When the Pharisees heard that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, they collected together.
Dar fariseii, auzind că i-a redus la tăcere pe saduchei, s-au adunat.
35 Then one of them, a Student of the Law, to test him, asked this question –
Unul dintre ei, un avocat, i-a pus o întrebare, punându-l la încercare.
36 ‘Teacher, what is the greatest commandment in the Law?’
“Învățătorule, care este cea mai mare poruncă din Lege?”
37 His answer was, ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.
Isus i-a zis: “Să iubești pe Domnul Dumnezeul tău din toată inima ta, din tot sufletul tău și din tot cugetul tău.
38 This is the great first commandment.
Aceasta este cea dintâi și cea mai mare poruncă.
39 The second, which is like it, is this – You must love your neighbour as you love yourself.
A doua, la fel, este aceasta: “Să iubești pe aproapele tău ca pe tine însuți”.
40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the prophets.’
Toată Legea și profeții depind de aceste două porunci.”
41 Before the Pharisees separated, Jesus put this question to them –
Pe când se adunaseră fariseii, Isus le-a pus o întrebare,
42 ‘What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is he?’ ‘David’s,’ they said.
și le-a zis: “Ce credeți voi despre Hristos? Al cui fiu este El?” I-au spus: “De David”.
43 ‘How is it, then,’ Jesus replied, ‘that David, speaking under inspiration, calls him “lord,” in the passage –
El le-a zis: “Cum deci David, în Duhul Sfânt, Îl numește Domn, zicând,
44 “The Lord said to my Lord: Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies beneath your feet”?
“Domnul a zis Domnului meu, stai la dreapta mea, până când voi face din vrăjmașii tăi un scăunel pentru picioarele tale”?
45 Since, then, David calls him “lord,” how is he David’s son?’
“Dacă David îl numește Domn, cum este el fiul său?”
46 No one could say a word in answer; nor did anyone after that day venture to question him further.
Nimeni n-a putut să-i răspundă nimic și nimeni n-a îndrăznit să-i mai pună vreo întrebare din ziua aceea.
