1 Timothy 4

1 But the Spirit distinctly says that in later times there will be some who will fall away from the faith, and devote their attention to misleading spirits, and to the teaching of demons,

பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவர் தெளிவாகச் சொல்வது இதுவே: கடைசிக் காலங்களில் சிலர் விசுவாசத்தைக் கைவிட்டு, வஞ்சிக்கும் ஆவிகளையும், பிசாசுகளின் போதனைகளையும் பின்பற்றுவார்கள்.

2 who will make use of the hypocrisy of lying teachers. These people’s consciences are seared,

இப்படியான போதனைகள், வேஷதாரிகளான பொய்யர்களின் வழியாகவே வருகின்றன. அவர்களுடைய மனசாட்சிகளோ சூடுபட்டும், சுரணையற்றுப் போவார்கள்.

3 and they discourage marriage and enjoin abstinence from certain kinds of food; though God created these foods to be enjoyed thankfully by those who hold the faith and have attained a full knowledge of the truth.

அவர்களோ திருமணம் செய்யவேண்டாம் எனவும், குறிப்பிட்ட சில உணவு வகைகளைச் சாப்பிடவேண்டாம் எனவும் கட்டளையிடுகிறார்கள்; ஆனால் விசுவாசிக்கிறவர்களும், சத்தியத்தை அறிந்திருக்கிறவர்களும் நன்றி செலுத்துதலோடு அனுபவிக்கும்படியே, இறைவன் அவற்றை உண்டாக்கியிருக்கிறார்.

4 Everything created by God is good, and there in nothing that need be rejected – provided only that it is received thankfully;

ஏனெனில் இறைவன் படைத்ததெல்லாம் நல்லதே, அவற்றை நன்றி செலுத்துதலோடு நாம் ஏற்றுக்கொண்டால், ஒன்றும் புறக்கணிக்கப்பட வேண்டியவையல்ல.

5 for it is consecrated by God’s blessing and by prayer.

ஏனெனில், இவை இறைவனுடைய வார்த்தையினாலும், நமது மன்றாட்டினாலும் பரிசுத்தமாக்கப்படுகின்றன.

6 Put all this before the followers, and you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, sustained by the precepts of the faith and of that good teaching by which you have guided your life.

இக்காரியங்களைச் சகோதரருக்கு எடுத்துக் கூறினால், நீ கைக்கொண்ட விசுவாசத்தின் வார்த்தைகளிலும், நல்ல போதனைகளிலும் வளர்ச்சிப்பெற்ற கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவின் ஒரு நல்ல ஊழியனாயிருப்பாய்.

7 As for profane legends and old wives’ tales, leave them alone. Train yourself to lead a religious life;

பக்தியில்லாதவர்களின் கற்பனைக் கதைகளிலும், கிழவிகளின் கட்டுக்கதைகளிலும் நீ சம்பந்தப்படாமல்; இறை பக்தியுள்ளவனாய் இருக்க உன்னைப் பயிற்சி செய்.

8 for while the training of the body is of service in some respects, religion is of service in all, carrying with it, as it does, a promise of life both here and hereafter.

உடற்பயிற்சி ஓரளவு பயனுள்ளதே. ஆனால் இறை பக்தியாயிருப்பது எல்லாவற்றிற்கும் மிகப் பயனுள்ளது. அந்த பக்தி தற்போதைய வாழ்வுக்கும், வருங்கால வாழ்வுக்கும் உதவும் வாக்குறுதியைக் கொண்டிருக்கிறது.

9 How true that saying is and worthy of the fullest acceptance!

இந்த வார்த்தை எல்லோரும் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளக்கூடிய நம்பத் தகுந்ததாயிருக்கிறது.

10 With that aim we toil and struggle, for we have set our hopes on the living God, who is the Saviour of all, and especially of those who hold the faith.

எல்லா மனிதர்களுக்கும், விசேஷமாக விசுவாசிகளுக்கு இரட்சகரான ஜீவனுள்ள இறைவனில் நாம் நமது எதிர்பார்ப்பை வைத்திருக்கிறோம். இதற்காகத்தான் நாம் கடுமையாக பாடுபட்டு முயற்சிக்கிறோம்.

11 Remember these things in your teaching.

இந்தக் காரியங்களை நீ போதித்துக் கட்டளையிடு.

12 Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but, by your conversation, your conduct, your love, your faith, and your purity, be an example to those who hold the faith.

நீ வாலிபனாய் இருப்பதால், உன்னை யாரும் தாழ்வாக எண்ண இடங்கொடாதே. அதனால் உன் பேச்சிலும், நடத்தையிலும், அன்பிலும், விசுவாசத்திலும், தூய வாழ்விலும், விசுவாசிகளுக்கு முன்மாதிரியாக இரு.

13 Until I come, apply yourself to public reading, preaching, and teaching.

நான் வரும்வரைக்கும் நீ திருச்சபையில் வேதவசனங்கள் வாசிப்பதிலும், பிரசங்கம் செய்வதிலும், போதிப்பதிலும் உன் கவனத்தை ஈடுபடுத்து.

14 Do not neglect the divine gift within you, which was given you, amid many a prediction, when the hands of the church elders were laid on your head.

சபைத்தலைவர்களின் குழு உன்மேல் தங்கள் கைகளை வைத்தபோது, இறைவாக்கின் மூலமாக உனக்குக் கொடுக்கப்பட்ட வரத்தை அலட்சியம் செய்யாதே.

15 Practice these things, devote yourself to them, so that your progress may be plain to everyone.

இந்தக் காரியங்களில் கவனத்தைச் செலுத்து; அவைகளுக்கு உன்னை முழுமையாக ஒப்புக்கொடு. அப்போது எல்லோரும் உன் முன்னேற்றத்தைத் தெளிவாய் காண்பார்கள்.

16 Look to yourself as well as to your teaching. Persevere in this, for your doing so will mean salvation for yourself as well as for your hearers.

உன் வாழ்க்கை முறையைப் பற்றியும், உபதேசத்தைப் பற்றியும் மிகக் கவனமாயிரு. நீ அவைகளில் நிலைத்திரு, நீ அப்படியிருந்தால் உன்னையும் உனக்குச் செவிகொடுப்பவர்களையும் நீ இரட்சித்துக்கொள்வாய்.
