Mark 9
1 And he said to them, Truly do I say to you, There are some of those standing here who will not taste of death, till they have seen that the kingdom of God hath come with power.
Et il leur disait: « En vérité je vous déclare qu'il y a quelques-uns de ceux qui sont ici présents, qui ne goûteront certainement point la mort jusques à ce qu'ils aient vu le royaume de Dieu inauguré avec puissance. »
2 And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter and James and John, and leadeth them up into a high mountain apart by themselves; and he was transfigured before them.
Et six jours après Jésus prend avec lui Pierre et Jacques et Jean, et il les conduit seuls à l'écart sur une haute montagne.
3 And his garments became glistening, very white, so as no fuller on earth can whiten.
Et il fut transfiguré en leur présence, et ses vêtements devinrent éblouissants; si blancs qu'il n'est pas sur la terre de foulon qui puisse ainsi blanchir.
4 And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses; and they were talking with Jesus.
Et Élie leur apparut avec Moïse, et ils conversaient avec Jésus;
5 And Peter answering saith to Jesus, Rabbi, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tents, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.
et Pierre prenant la parole dit à Jésus: « Rabbi, c'est une bonne chose pour nous que d'être ici; faisons trois tentes, une pour toi, et une pour Moïse, et une pour Élie. »
6 For he knew not what to answer; for they were struck with terror.
Il ne savait pas en effet ce qu'il devait dire, car ils avaient été saisis d'effroi.
7 And there came a cloud overshadowing them; and a voice came out of the cloud, This is my beloved Son; hear him.
Et une nuée survint qui les couvrit, et de la nuée sortit une voix: « Celui-ci est Mon Fils bien-aimé! Écoutez-le. »
8 And suddenly looking round, they no longer saw any one but Jesus alone with themselves.
Et ayant sur-le-champ regardé autour d'eux, ils ne virent plus personne avec eux, sauf Jésus seul.
9 And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them to give no account of what they had seen to any one, till the Son of man should have risen from the dead.
Et pendant qu'ils descendaient de la montagne, il leur donna des ordres, afin qu'ils ne racontassent à personne ce qu'ils avaient vu, si ce n'est lorsque le fils de l'homme serait ressuscité des morts.
10 And they kept these words in mind, questioning one another what rising from the dead might mean.
Et ils s'attachèrent à cette parole se demandant entre eux: Que signifie: « ressusciter des morts? »
11 And they asked him, saying, How is it that the Pharisees and scribes say that Elijah must come first?
Et ils l'interrogeaient en disant: « Pourquoi les scribes disent-ils qu'il faut qu'Élie vienne premièrement? »
12 And he said to them, Elijah cometh first, and restoreth all things. And how hath it been written of the Son of man? that he must suffer many things, and be set at nought.
Mais il leur dit: « Il est vrai qu'Élie, après être premièrement venu, doit rétablir toutes choses. Et comment est-il écrit à propos du Fils de l'homme qu'il doit souffrir beaucoup et être compté pour rien?
13 But I say to you that Elijah hath come, and they have done to him whatever they would; as it hath been written concerning him.
Mais je vous déclare qu'Élie aussi est venu, et qu'ils lui ont fait tout ce qu'ils voulaient, selon qu'il est écrit à propos de lui. »
14 And coming to the disciples, they saw a great multitude about them, and scribes debating with them.
Et quand ils furent arrivés vers les disciples ils virent autour d'eux une foule nombreuse et des scribes qui discutaient avec eux.
15 And immediately the whole multitude on seeing him was struck with awe, and running to him, saluted him.
Et aussitôt toute la foule l'ayant vu fut dans l'épouvante, et elle accourait pour le saluer.
16 And he asked them, About what are ye debating with them?
Et il leur demanda: « Sur quoi discutez-vous avec eux? »
17 And one of the multitude answered him, Teacher, I have brought to thee my son, who hath a dumb spirit.
Et quelqu'un de la foule lui répliqua: « Maître, je t'ai amené mon fils qui a un esprit muet;
18 And wherever it seizeth hold of him, it throweth him down; and he foameth and gnasheth his teeth; and he pineth away. And I spoke to thy disciples to cast it out, and they were not able.
et où que ce soit qu'il s'empare de lui, il le terrasse; et il écume et grince les dents et devient tout roide; et j'ai parlé à tes disciples afin qu'ils le chassassent, et ils n'ont pas pu. »
19 He answereth and saith to them, O unbelieving generation! How long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to me.
Et lui leur réplique: « O génération incrédule, jusques à quand serai-je avec vous? Amenez-le moi. »
20 And they brought him to him. And as soon as he saw him, the spirit convulsed him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed, foaming.
Et on le lui amena. Et quand il l'eut vu, l'esprit le jeta aussitôt en convulsion, et étant tombé à terre, il se roulait en écumant.
21 And he asked his father, How long hath it been thus with him? And he said, From a child;
Et il demanda au père: « Combien de temps y a-t-il que cela lui arrive? » Et il dit: « Depuis son enfance;
22 and it hath often cast him both into fire, and into water, to destroy him; but if thou art able to do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us.
et souvent il l'a jeté soit dans le feu soit dans les eaux, afin de le faire périr; mais, si tu peux quelque chose, viens à notre secours par compassion pour nous. »
23 Jesus said to him, If thou art able? All things are possible for him that believeth.
Or Jésus lui dit: « Quant à ton: « Si tu peux, » toutes choses sont possibles pour celui qui croit. »
24 The father of the child immediately cried out and said, I believe; help thou my unbelief.
Aussitôt le père du jeune enfant de s'écrier: « Je crois; viens au secours de mon incrédulité. »
25 And Jesus seeing that the multitude came running together, rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, Dumb and deaf spirit, I command thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.
Mais Jésus ayant vu accourir la multitude réprimanda l'esprit impur, en lui disant: « Esprit muet et sourd, c'est moi, c'est moi qui te l'ordonne, sors de lui et ne rentre plus en lui. »
26 And uttering a cry, and convulsing him much, it came out of him. And he became as one dead; so that very many said, He is dead.
Et ayant poussé des cris et l'ayant jeté en de violentes convulsions, il sortit; et il devint comme un cadavre, en sorte que la plupart disaient: « Il est mort. »
27 But Jesus, taking hold of his hand, raised him, and he stood up.
Mais Jésus lui ayant pris les mains le fit lever, et il se tint debout.
28 And when he had come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast it out?
Et lorsqu'il fut rentré au logis, ses disciples lui demandaient en particulier: « Pourquoi n'avons-nous pas pu le chasser nous-mêmes? »
29 And he said to them, This kind can go out by nothing, except by prayer.
Et il leur dit: « Cette espèce-là ne peut sortir par aucun autre moyen que par la prière. »
30 And departing thence, they passed through Galilee; and he would not that any one should know it.
Et étant sortis de là ils cheminaient au travers de la Galilée, et il ne voulait pas que personne le sût;
31 For he taught his disciples, and said to them, The Son of man is about to be delivered up into the hands of men, and they will put him to death; and when he hath been put to death, after three days he will rise again.
car il instruisait ses disciples et disait: « Le fils de l'homme va être livré aux mains des hommes, et ils le feront mourir, et, quand il aura été mis à mort, au bout de trois jours il ressuscitera. »
32 But they understood not what he said, and were afraid to ask him.
Mais eux ne comprenaient pas cette parole, et ils craignaient de l'interroger.
33 And they came to Capernaum; and having come into the house, he asked them, About what were ye disputing on the road?
Et ils arrivèrent à Capharnaoum. Et lorsqu'il fut dans la maison, il leur demandait: « Sur quoi discutiez-vous en chemin? »
34 But they were silent; for on the road they had been disputing with one another, who was greatest.
Mais ils se taisaient; car ils avaient discuté entre eux en chemin quel était le plus grand.
35 And sitting down, he called the twelve, and saith to them, If any one desire to be first, he will be last of all, and servant of all.
Et s'étant assis, il appela les douze, et il leur dit: « Si quelqu'un veut être le premier, il sera le dernier de tous et le serviteur de tous. »
36 And he took a child, and placed him in the midst of them, and taking him in his arms, he said to them,
Et ayant pris un petit enfant, il le plaça au milieu d'eux, et l'ayant serré dans ses bras, il leur dit:
37 Whoever receiveth one of these children in my name, receiveth me; and whoever receiveth me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.
« Celui qui aura reçu en mon nom l'un de ces petits enfants-là, me reçoit, et celui qui me reçoit, ce n'est pas moi qu'il reçoit, mais Celui qui m'a envoyé. »
38 John said to him, Teacher, we saw one casting out demons in thy name who followeth not us; and we forbade him, because he did not follow us.
Jean lui dit: « Maître, nous avons vu quelqu'un qui chassait des démons en ton nom, et nous l'en empêchions parce qu'il ne nous suivait pas. »
39 But Jesus said, Forbid him not. For no one, who shall do a miracle in my name, can readily speak evil of me.
Mais Jésus dit: « Ne l'en empêchez pas; car il n'est personne qui fasse un miracle en mon nom, et qui puisse aussitôt après dire du mal de moi;
40 For he that is not against us is for us.
car quiconque n'est pas contre nous est pour nous.
41 For whoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, truly do I say to you, he will not lose his reward.
En effet celui qui vous aura donné à boire un verre d'eau, par la raison que vous êtes à Christ, en vérité je vous déclare qu'il ne perdra certainement pas sa récompense.
42 And whoever shall cause one of these little ones that believe to fall away, it would be better for him to have a great millstone hung round his neck, and be cast into the sea.
Et celui qui aura scandalisé un seul de ces petits qui croient en moi, beaucoup mieux vaudrait pour lui qu'on passât autour de son col une meule de moulin à âne, et qu'on le jetât dans la mer.
43 And if thy hand cause thee to fall away, cut it off. It is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having the two hands to go away into hell, into the fire that is unquenchable. (Geenna g1067)
Et si ta main a été pour toi une occasion de scandale, coupe-la; il est bon que tu entres estropié dans la vie, plutôt que d'aller, en ayant tes deux mains, dans la géhenne, dans le feu inextinguible; [ (Geenna g1067)
là où leur ver ne meurt point, et où le feu ne s'éteint point.]
45 And if thy foot is causing thee to fall away, cut it off; it is better for thee to enter into life lame, than having the two feet to be cast into hell. (Geenna g1067)
Et si ton pied est pour toi une occasion de scandale, coupe-le; il est bon que tu entres boiteux dans la vie, plutôt que d'être jeté, en ayant tes deux pieds, dans la géhenne; [ (Geenna g1067)
là où leur ver ne meurt point, et où le feu ne s'éteint point.]
47 And if thine eye is causing thee to fall away, pluck it out; it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell, (Geenna g1067)
Et si ton œil est pour toi une occasion de scandale, arrache-le; il est bon que tu entres borgne dans le royaume de Dieu, plutôt que d'être jeté, en ayant deux yeux, dans la géhenne, (Geenna g1067)
48 where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
là où leur ver ne meurt point, et où le feu ne s'éteint point;
49 For every one will be salted with fire.
car chacun sera salé de feu.
50 Salt is good; but if the salt have lost its saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.
Le sel est bon; mais si le sel devient insipide, avec quoi l'assaisonnerez-vous?
