< John 7 >

1 After these things Jesus walked in Galilee; for he would not walk in Judaea, because the Jews sought to kill him.
2 Now the feast of the Jews, the feast of tabernacles, was at hand.
Leleꞌ naa, atahori Yahudi ra feta etu-orun fo babae rae, “Feta lalaaꞌ”, sangga deka ena.
3 His brothers therefore said to him, Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see thy works which thou art doing.
Boe ma Yesus odi nara denu E rae, “Malole lenaꞌ, Aꞌa lao hela ia, fo lao muu sia Yudea. Naa fo atahori mana tungga Aꞌa sia naa ra o bisa rita dala-dalaꞌ fo Aꞌa taoꞌ ra boe.
4 For no one doeth anything in secret, and yet himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou doest these things, manifest thyself to the world.
Huu mete ma atahori esa nau fo atahori hetar mete rita eni manaselin, na, ana afiꞌ tao funi-funiꞌ. Huu Aꞌa tao manadadꞌi-manaseli mataꞌ-mataꞌ, de malole lenaꞌ fai, mete ma basa atahori bisa rita saa fo Aꞌa taoꞌ a naa!”
5 For even his brothers did not believe in him.
Odi nara olaꞌ raꞌo naa, huu ara nda ramahere tebꞌe E sa boe.
6 Jesus saith to them, My time is not yet come; but your time is always ready.
Boe ma Yesus nataa nae, “Taꞌo ia. Leleꞌ ia, Au fai ngga nda feꞌe losa sa. Te mete ma hei mae mii, na, sudꞌiꞌ a fai hiraꞌ o bisa.
7 The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that its works are evil.
Atahori sia raefafoꞌ ia ra nda binci nggi sa. Te ara binci Au, huu Au utudꞌu basa tatao-nonoꞌi nara. Te rala nara deꞌulakaꞌ.
8 Go ye up to the feast; I go not up to this feast; for my time is not yet fully come.
Hita fai malole agaman, deka nema ena. Hela neu fo akaꞌ hei mii miꞌihuluꞌ sia Yerusalem. Au nda feꞌe nau uu sa, huu fain nda feꞌe losa sa.”
9 Having said these things, he remained in Galilee.
10 But when his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not openly, but as it were in secret.
Leleꞌ odi nara lao reu tungga atahori Yahudi ra fai malolen sia Yerusalem, Yesus o tungga neu boe.
11 The Jews therefore sought him at the feast, and said, Where is that man?
Leleꞌ fai malole mia Yerusalem, atahori Yahudi ra malangga nara sangga E. Ara ratane rae, “Atahori naa sia bee, e?”
12 And there was much debating among the multitude concerning him. Some said, He is a good man; others said, Nay, but he deceiveth the multitude.
Atahori hetar utu-utu soꞌal Eni. Ruma rae, “Eni, atahori maloleꞌ.” Ruma fai rae, “Hokoꞌ! Eni, mana peko-lelekoꞌ hiiꞌ a laka-ese atahori hetar.”
13 No one, however, spoke openly of him, for fear of the Jews.
Te nda hambu esa saa boe nambarani olaꞌ relo-relo soꞌal Yesus sa, huu ara ramatau malangga naa ra.
14 But when it was now the midst of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple and taught.
15 The Jews therefore marveled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?
Boe ma atahori Yahudi ra malangga nara tabangangaa rae, “Atahori ia nda nanori naeꞌ nita onaꞌ hita sa. Te taꞌo bee de Ana nahine dalaꞌ hetar onaꞌ ia?”
16 Jesus therefore answered them, and said, My teaching is not mine, but his that sent me.
Boe ma Yesus nafadꞌe se nae, “Rena, e. Dala-dalaꞌ fo Au unoriꞌ ra, nda miaꞌ a Au mesaꞌ nggo sa, te mia Eni mana denu Auꞌ a.
17 If any one is desirous to do his will, he will know concerning the teaching, whether it is from God, or whether I speak from myself.
Atahori mana tebꞌe-tebꞌeꞌ nau tao tungga Lamatualain hihii-nanaun, dei fo ana nahine, Au nenori ngga naa, tebꞌe-tebꞌeꞌ nema mia Lamatualain, do nema mia akaꞌ Au mesaꞌ nggo.
18 He that speaketh from himself seeketh his own glory; but he that seeketh the glory of him that sent him, he is true, and in him is no unrighteousness.
Huu atahori mana olaꞌ nendi akaꞌ mesaꞌ ne koasan, eni sanggaꞌ a naraꞌ. Te atahori mana nau soꞌu-botiꞌ nara malole neu atahori mana denu eniꞌ a, na, tantu ana olaꞌ no rala ndoos.
19 Hath not Moses given you the Law? and none of you keepeth the Law! Why do ye seek to kill me?
Baꞌi Musa fee Lamatualain Hohoro-lalanen neu nggi ena. Te hei nda tao tungga sa. Dadꞌi, taꞌo bee de hei sangga-sangga dalaꞌ fo mae tao misa Au?”
20 The multitude answered, Thou hast a demon! Who seeketh to kill thee?
Basa ma atahori hetar ratane rae, “Olaꞌ saa, ia? Mbei ma nitur tao nggo, do? Seka mana sangga dalaꞌ fo nae tao nisa nggo?”
21 Jesus answered and said to them, I have done one good work, and ye are all wondering.
Boe ma Yesus nataa nae, “Taꞌo ia. Au feꞌe taoꞌ a manadadꞌi-manaseliꞌ mataꞌ esaꞌ a sia fai hule-oꞌeꞌ a, te basa hei miminasa ena.
22 Moses hath given you circumcision, (not that it is from Moses, but from the fathers; ) and ye on the sabbath circumcise a man.
Te lao-lao esa, hei tao-ues sia fai hule-oꞌeꞌ a, onaꞌ ia boe: baꞌi Musa naꞌondaꞌ sunat hohoro-lalanen nae, mete ma atahori bonggi nala ana touꞌ, na, neu fai kafalun, hei musi sunat ana dikiꞌ naa. Itaꞌ mae faiꞌ naa, nandaa no fai hule-oꞌeꞌ o, hei musi sunat e. (Te tungga matetun, hohoro-lalaneꞌ naa ra rahuluꞌ baꞌi Musa. Huu Lamatualain fee hohoro-lalaneꞌ naa ra raꞌahuluꞌ neu baꞌi Abraham.)
23 If a man receive circumcision on the sabbath, that the law of Moses may not be broken, are ye angry at me, because I have restored soundness to the whole body of a man on the sabbath?
Dadꞌi mete ma sunat ana dikiꞌ esa nandaa no fai hule-oꞌeꞌ na, nda sala no baꞌi Musa hohoro-lalanen sa, na, taꞌo bee de hei miminasa Au, huu Au uꞌuhahaiꞌ atahori kekoꞌ nandaa no fai hule-oꞌeꞌ? Nda nandaa no dudꞌuꞌat sa, to!?
24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.
Afiꞌ nile atahori tungga akaꞌ dala-dalaꞌ fo hei bisa mita no mata mara. Duduꞌa naruꞌ fo timba-tai basa-bꞌasaꞌ e no malolole dei, basa fo feꞌe miꞌetuꞌ no matetuꞌ ena.”
25 Then some of the men of Jerusalem said, Is not this he whom they seek to kill?
Basa naa ma, hambu atahori hira mia kota Yerusalem ratatane rae, “Atahori ia, ara sangga fo rae tao risa E, do?
26 and see! he speaketh boldly, and they say nothing to him. Have the rulers discovered certainly that this man is the Christ?
We, seli, o! Ana olaꞌ relo-relo sia atahori hetar mata nara. Te nda hambu esa denu E nee-nee sa boe. Tungga hei, na taꞌo bee? Mbei ma mana toꞌu koasa ra bubꞌuluꞌ ena do hokoꞌ, rae Atahori ia, naeni Kristus, fo Lamatualain helu memaꞌ nae haitua nemaꞌ a ena, do?
27 Still, as to this man, we know whence he is; but when the Christ cometh, no one knoweth whence he is.
28 Jesus therefore cried aloud, teaching in the temple and saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am; and I have not come of myself, but there is in truth one who sent me, whom ye know not.
Leleꞌ naa, Yesus feꞌe nanori atahori sia Ume Hule-oꞌe Huuꞌ a sodꞌan. Leleꞌ rena atahori ra ola-olaꞌ taꞌo naa, boe ma Ana natane se no hara deres nae, “Hei duꞌa mae, hei mihine Au, ma bubꞌuluꞌ tebꞌe Au uma mia bee, do? Au nda uma sia ia tunggaꞌ a hihii-nanau ngga sa. Huu mana denu Au ia, tebꞌe-tebꞌeꞌ sia. Hei nda mihine E sa boe.
29 I know him, because I am from him, and he hath sent me.
Te Au uhine E, huu Au uma mia E, ma Eni mana denu Au na.”
30 Therefore they sought to take him; but no one laid hands on him, because his hour had not yet come.
Basa boe ma, ara rae humu E. Te nda hambu esa bisa toꞌu nala E sa, huu fain nda feꞌe losa sa.
31 But of the multitude many believed in him, and said, When the Christ cometh, will he do more signs than these which this man doeth?
Mia atahori hetar mana sia naa ra, hambu hetar ramahere E boe. Ara ola-olaꞌ rae, “Atahori ia tao manadadꞌi-manaseliꞌ hetar ena. Ma leleꞌ Kristus nema, mbei ma Ana nda tao lenaꞌ mia Atahori ia sa, to?”
32 The Pharisees heard the multitude thus debating concerning him; and the chief priest and the Pharisees sent officers to seize him.
Sia atahori hetar taladꞌa nara, hambu atahori hira mia partei agama Farisi ra boe. Ara rena atahori hetar olaꞌ utu-utu dalaꞌ naa ra soꞌal Yesus. Basa ma, ara ro malangga agama Yahudi ra malangga nara haitua atahori hira mana ranea Ume Hule-oꞌe Huuꞌ a, fo reu humu Yesus.
33 Jesus therefore said, Yet a little while I am with you, and then I go to him that sent me.
Boe ma Yesus nafadꞌe nae, “Au fai ngga fo hambu uꞌubꞌue o nggi, helaꞌ a mbei ena. Nda dooꞌ sa ena te Au lao baliꞌ isiꞌ Eni mana denu Au a.
34 Ye will seek me and not find me; and where I am, ye cannot come.
35 The Jews therefore said among themselves, Whither will this man go, that we shall not find him? Will he go to the dispersed among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks?
Basa ma, atahori Yahudi ra malangga nara esa natane esa rae, “Atahori ia nae neu sia bee? Ana neu sia mamanaꞌ bee, fo hita nda tandaa to E sa? Ana nae neu keke sia atahori Yahudi fo masodꞌan sea-saranggaa sia nusa deaꞌ, do? Ana nae neu nanori atahori mana pake dedꞌea Yunani sia naa, do? Do, taꞌo bee?
36 What meaneth this which he said, Ye will seek me, and not find me; and where I am, ye cannot come?
37 On the last day, which is the great day, of the feast, Jesus stood and cried aloud, saying, If any one thirst, let him come to me, and drink.
Nandaa no fefetas fai mateteꞌen, mana dadꞌi fai monaeꞌ manaseliꞌ naa, ma Yesus nambariiꞌ de nameli nae, “Rena, o! Seka naꞌamadꞌa, na, nema sia Au fo ninu!
38 He that believeth in me, from within him, as the Scripture hath said, will flow rivers of living water.
Huu Lamatualain Susura Meumaren suraꞌ ena nae, ‘Oe mana nendi masodꞌaꞌ dei fo nasapupuraꞌ dea nema mia atahori mamahereꞌ ra rala nara.’ Basa fo, ara hambu masodꞌa ndoo-tetuꞌ a. No taꞌo naa, ara o tulu-fali atahori laen fo hambu masodꞌa ndoo-tetuꞌ a boe.”
39 But this he said of the Spirit, which those that believed in him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
Naa, Yesus olaꞌ soꞌal Lamatualain Dula-dalen, huu basa atahori mana ramahere Yesus dei fo simbo Dula-daleꞌ naa.
40 Some of the multitude therefore, when they heard these words, said, This is in truth the prophet. Others said, This is the Christ.
Atahori hetar sia naa rena Yesus olaꞌ taꞌo naa. Boe ma ruma ola-olaꞌ rae, “Tantu Atahori ia, Lamatualain mana Ola-olan, fo Ana helu memaꞌ eniꞌ a fai maꞌahulun!”
41 Others said, Doth the Christ then come from Galilee?
Hambu ruma fai rae, “Hokoꞌ! Eni, Kristus, fo Lamatualain dudꞌu memaꞌ mia fai maꞌahulun!” Tebꞌe, to?
42 Hath not the Scripture said, that the Christ cometh from the seed of David, and from Bethlehem, the town where David was?
Huu Lamatualain Susura Meumaren suraꞌ oi, Kristus naa, mane Daud tititi-nonosin. Sia mamanaꞌ laen o nenesuraꞌ oi, Eni, atahori Betlehem, naeni mane Daud kambon. Onaꞌ naa, to?”
43 So there was a division among the multitude because of him.
Dadꞌi atahori ra rababanggi huu Yesus.
44 And some of them wished to seize him; but no one laid hands on him.
Hambu atahori hira o rae toꞌu rala E boe. Te nda hambu toꞌu rala E sa.
45 The officers therefore came to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, Why did ye not bring him?
Basa ma, mana ranea Ume Hule-oꞌe Huuꞌ a, mana rema rae humu Yesus, baliꞌ risi malangga agama Yahudi ra malangga nara ro atahori Farisi ra. Boe ma atahori moko-monaen ra ratane rae, “Wei! Saa de hei nda mendi E nema sa?”
46 The officers answered, Never man spoke like this man.
Ara rataa rae, “Awii! Nda hambu atahori esa olaꞌ nita onaꞌ E sa boe!”
47 The Pharisees answered them, Have ye also been deceived?
Atahori Farisi naa ra ratane rae, “Heh! Hei o nenepeko-lelekoꞌ ena boe, do?
48 Hath any one of the rulers believed in him? or of the Pharisees?
Misinedꞌa, e! Nda hambu mia hita atahori Farisi ra, do, mia malangga-malangga ra ramahere E sa. Tebꞌe, do? Mete ma atahori moko-monaen ra nda ramahere sa, na, saa de hei nau mimihere neu E fai?
49 but this multitude that know not the Law are accursed.
Te atahori hetar ia ra mana nau ramahere neu E, nda rahine Lamatualain Hohoro-lalanen sa. Dei fo Lamatualain hukun se beran seli!”
50 Nicodemus saith to them, being one of them,
Te sia naa hambu atahori Farisi esa, naran Nikodemus. Eni, tetemba-tetembaꞌ na neu ola-olaꞌ nita no Yesus. Basa ma natane mbali se nae,
51 Doth our law judge a man, unless it first hear from him, and know what he doeth?
“Taꞌo bee? Tungga hita agaman hohoro-lalanen, na, hita taꞌetuꞌ memaꞌ atahori dedꞌeat na, do? Do, hita musi rena e dei, fo tatane ana tao saa, dei fo feꞌe bisa taꞌetuꞌ dedꞌeat na?”
52 They answered and said to him, Art thou too from Galilee? Search and see that no prophet ariseth from Galilee.
Boe ma ara bua e rae, “Weh! Ho ia, atahori Galilea onaꞌ E, do? Paresaꞌ lutuꞌ-leloꞌ Lamatualain Susura Meumaren dei! Seꞌu malolole fo bubꞌuluꞌ mae, nda hambu Lamatualain mana ola-olan esa sa boe nema mia Galilea!”
53 (Joh 7:53 - 8:12: This passage is omitted as ungenuine by Tischendorf and most critical editors of the Greek Testament. It is found in some manuscripts, but not in the most ancient. It is, however, very generally regarded as a genuine relic of the teaching of Christ, though not forming a part of the fourth Gospel. I give it in the text of Tregelles, omitting the words which he incloses in brackets. Tregelles, however, does not suppose it to be genuine.) [[And they went each to his house;
