2 Timothy 4

1 I charge thee before God, and Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom;

Je t'en adjure devant Dieu, et devant Christ Jésus qui doit juger les vivants et les morts, tant au nom de son apparition qu'au nom de son royaume:

2 preach the word, be urgent in season, out of season, confute, rebuke, exhort with all long-suffering and teaching.

prêche la parole, insiste à propos et hors de propos, reprends, tance, exhorte avec toute sorte de patience et d'instruction.

3 For the time will come, when they will not endure sound doctrine, but after their own desires will they heap to themselves teachers; because they have itching ears;

Car il y aura un moment où ils ne souffriront plus l'enseignement salutaire, mais où, selon leurs propres convoitises, ils se donneront une masse de docteurs, parce que leurs oreilles aiment à être flattées;

4 and they will turn away their ears from the truth, and turn aside to fables.

et, tandis que, d'un côté, ils les fermeront à la vérité, de l'autre, ils se jetteront dans les fables.

5 But be thou watchful in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fully accomplish thy ministry.

Quant à toi, sois modéré à tous égards, endure les souffrances comme un bon soldat de Christ Jésus, fais l'œuvre d'un évangéliste, acquitte-toi parfaitement de ton ministère.

6 For I am already about to be offered as a sacrifice, and the time of my departure is at hand.

Car, pour moi, je sers déjà de libation, et le moment de mon départ approche;

7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith;

j'ai combattu le bon combat; j'ai achevé la course; j'ai gardé la foi;

8 henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me at that day, and not to me only, but to all those who have loved his appearing.

du reste, la couronne de justice m'est réservée; le seigneur, le juste juge, me l'accordera en ce jour-là, et non seulement à moi, mais encore à tous ceux qui désirent son apparition.

9 Use diligence to come to me shortly.

Tâche de me rejoindre promptement,

10 For Demas forsook me, because he loved the present world, and went to Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia. (aiōn g165)

car Démas m'a abandonné par préférence pour le présent siècle, et il est parti pour Thessalonique, Crescens pour la Galatie, Tite pour la Dalmatie; (aiōn g165)

11 Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee; for he is useful to me for the ministry.

Lucas est seul avec moi. Prends Marc pour l'amener avec toi, car il m'est utile pour le ministère.

12 But Tychicus I sent to Ephesus.

Quant à Tychique, je l'ai envoyé à Éphèse.

13 The cloak that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest bring with thee, and the books, especially the parchments.

Apporte, quand tu viendras, le manteau que j'ai laissé à Troas chez Carpus, ainsi que les livres, surtout les parchemins.

14 Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil; the Lord will reward him according to his works;

Alexandre le fondeur m'a témoigné beaucoup de malveillance (le seigneur lui rendra selon ses œuvres);

15 of whom do thou also beware; for he hath greatly withstood our words.

tiens-toi aussi en garde contre lui, car il s'est fortement opposé à notre prédication.

16 At my first defence no one came forward with me, but all forsook me. May it not be laid to their charge!

Dans ma première défense personne ne m'a assisté, mais tous m'ont abandonné; que cela ne leur soit pas imputé.

17 But the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me, that the preaching might be fully accomplished by me, and that all the gentiles might hear; and I was delivered out of the lion's mouth.

Mais c'est le Seigneur qui m'a assisté et qui m'a fortifié, afin que par moi la prédication eût une pleine efficace, que tous les Gentils l'entendissent, et que je fusse tiré de la gueule du lion.

18 The Lord will deliver me from every evil deed, and preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom; to whom be the glory for ever and ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)

Le seigneur me garantira de toute mauvaise action, et il me sauvera pour m'introduire dans son céleste royaume. A lui soit la gloire aux siècles des siècles! Amen! (aiōn g165)

19 Salute Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus.

Salue Prisca et Aquilas, et la famille d'Onésiphore;

20 Erastus remained at Corinth, but Trophimus I left at Miletus sick.

Eraste est resté à Corinthe; quant à Trophime, ils l'ont laissé malade à Milet.

21 Use diligence to come before winter. Eubulus saluteth thee, and Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and all the brethren.

Tâche de venir avant l'hiver. Euboulos te salue, ainsi que Pudens, et Linus, et Claudia, et tous les frères.

22 The Lord be with thy spirit. Grace be with you.

Que le seigneur Jésus soit avec ton esprit! Que la grâce soit avec vous!
