< John 11 >

1 Now a certain man was sick, Leayzar from Beth-Naiya, of the village of Maryam and her sister, Marta.
ⲁ̅ⲛⲉⲩⲛ ⲟⲩⲁ ⲇⲉ ϣⲱⲛⲉ ϫⲉ ⲗⲁⲍⲁⲣⲟⲥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲃⲏⲑⲁⲛⲓⲁ ⲡϯⲙⲉ ⲙⲙⲁⲣⲓⲁ ⲙⲛ ⲙⲁⲣⲑⲁ ⲧⲉⲥⲥⲱⲛⲉ
2 It was that Maryam who had anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother, Leayzar, was sick.
ⲃ̅ⲧⲁⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲧⲉ ⲙⲁⲣⲓⲁ ⲧⲉⲛⲧⲁⲥⲧⲉϩⲥ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲛⲥⲟϭⲛ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲥϥⲉⲧ ⲛⲉϥⲟⲩⲉⲣⲏⲧⲉ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲥϥⲱ ⲧⲁⲓ ⲉⲛⲉⲣⲉⲡⲉⲥⲥⲟⲛ ⲗⲁⲍⲁⲣⲟⲥ ϣⲱⲛⲉ
3 The sisters therefore sent to him, saying, "Lord, look, the one you love is sick."
ⲅ̅ⲁⲩϫⲟⲟⲩ ϭⲉ ϣⲁⲣⲟϥ ⲛϭⲓ ⲛⲉϥⲥⲱⲛⲉ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲉⲓⲥ ϩⲏⲏⲡⲉ ϥϣⲱⲛⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡⲉⲧⲕⲙⲉ ⲙⲙⲟϥ
4 But when Yeshua heard it, he said, "This sickness is not to death, but for the glory of God, that God's Son may be glorified by it."
ⲇ̅ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲇⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ⲓⲥ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲓϣⲱⲛⲉ ⲛⲛⲉϥϣⲟⲟⲡ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲡⲙⲟⲩ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲉⲟⲟⲩ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲣⲉⲡⲉϥϣⲏⲣⲉ ϫⲓ ⲉⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲟⲟⲧϥ
5 Now Yeshua loved Marta, and her sister, and Leayzar.
ⲉ̅ⲛⲉⲣⲉⲓⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲉ ⲙⲙⲁⲣⲑⲁ ⲙⲛ ⲙⲁⲣⲓⲁ ⲧⲉⲥⲥⲱⲛⲉ ⲙⲛ ⲗⲁⲍⲁⲣⲟⲥ
6 When therefore he heard that he was sick, he stayed two days in the place where he was.
ⲋ̅ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥⲥⲱⲧⲙ ϭⲉ ϫⲉ ϥϣⲱⲛⲉ ⲧⲟⲧⲉ ⲁϥϭⲱ ⲛϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲥⲛⲁⲩ ϩⲙ ⲡⲙⲁ ⲉⲛⲉϥⲛϩⲏⲧϥ
7 Then after this he said to the disciples, "Let us go into Yehuda again."
ⲍ̅ⲙⲛⲛⲥⲱⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲛⲉϥⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ϫⲉ ⲙⲁⲣⲟⲛ ⲟⲛ ⲉϯⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓⲁ
8 The disciples told him, "Rabbi, the Jewish leaders were just trying to stone you, and are you going there again?"
ⲏ̅ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ⲛⲁϥ ⲛϭⲓ ⲙⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ϫⲉ ϩⲣⲁⲃⲃⲉⲓ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲣⲉⲛⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ϣⲓⲛⲉ ⲛⲥⲁ ϩⲓ ⲱⲛⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲕ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲟⲛ ⲕⲛⲁⲃⲱⲕ ⲉⲙⲁⲩ
9 Yeshua answered, "Are there not twelve hours of daylight? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world.
ⲑ̅ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ ⲛϭⲓ ⲓⲥ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲙⲏ ⲙⲛ ⲙⲛⲧⲥⲛⲟⲟⲩⲥ ⲛⲟⲩⲛⲟⲩ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲣϣⲁ ⲟⲩⲁ ⲙⲟⲟϣⲉ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲙⲉϥϫⲓϫⲣⲟⲡ ϫⲉ ϥⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲡⲟⲩⲟⲓⲛ ⲙⲡⲉⲓⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ
10 But if anyone walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him."
ⲓ̅ⲉⲣϣⲁ ⲟⲩⲁ ⲙⲟⲟϣⲉ ϩⲛ ⲧⲉⲩϣⲏ ϣⲁϥϫⲓ ϫⲣⲟⲡ ϫⲉ ⲙⲡⲟⲩⲟⲓⲛ ϣⲟⲟⲡ ⲁⲛ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲛϩⲏⲧϥ
11 He said these things, and after that, he said to them, "Our friend, Leayzar, has fallen asleep, but I am going so that I may awake him out of sleep."
ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ⲛⲁⲓ ⲁϥϫⲟⲟⲩ ⲙⲛⲛⲥⲱⲥ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲗⲁⲍⲁⲣⲟⲥ ⲡⲉⲛϣⲃⲏⲣ ⲁϥⲛⲕⲟⲧⲕ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ϯⲛⲁⲃⲱⲕ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲉⲓⲉⲧⲟⲩⲛⲟⲥϥ
12 Then the disciples said to him, "Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover."
ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ϭⲉ ⲛⲁϥ ⲛϭⲓ ⲙⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲉϣϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲁϥⲛⲕⲟⲧⲕ ϥⲛⲁⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛ
13 Now Yeshua had spoken of his death, but they thought that he spoke of taking rest in sleep.
ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ⲛⲧⲁⲓⲥ ⲇⲉ ϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲡⲉ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲉϥⲙⲟⲩ ⲛⲏ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲩⲙⲉⲩⲉ ϫⲉ ⲉϥϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲛⲕⲟⲧⲕ ⲙⲡⲱⲃϣ
14 So Yeshua said to them plainly then, "Leayzar is dead.
ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ⲧⲟⲧⲉ ϭⲉ ⲁⲓⲥ ϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲡⲁⲣⲣⲏⲥⲓⲁ ϫⲉ ⲗⲁⲍⲁⲣⲟⲥ ⲁϥⲙⲟⲩ
15 I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, so that you may believe. Nevertheless, let us go to him."
ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ϯⲣⲁϣⲉ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲉⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ϫⲉ ⲛⲉⲓⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲙⲁⲣⲟⲛ ϣⲁⲣⲟϥ
16 Tama therefore, who is called the Twin, said to his fellow disciples, "Let us go also, that we may die with him."
ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ⲡⲉϫⲉ ⲑⲱⲙⲁⲥ ⲡⲉϣⲁⲩⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ϫⲉ ⲇⲓⲇⲩⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲛⲉϥϣⲃⲣ ⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ϫⲉ ⲙⲁⲣⲟⲛ ϩⲱⲱⲛ ϫⲉ ⲉⲛⲉⲙⲟⲩ ⲛⲙⲙⲁϥ
17 So when Yeshua came, he found that he had been in the tomb four days already.
ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥⲉⲓ ϭⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ⲓⲥ ⲁϥϩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲉⲡⲉϥϥⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲡⲉ ⲉϥϩⲙ ⲡⲧⲁⲫⲟⲥ
18 Now Beth-Naiya was near Urishlim, about two miles away.
ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ⲃⲏⲑⲁⲛⲓⲁ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉⲥϩⲏⲛ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲑⲓⲉⲣⲟⲩⲥⲁⲗⲏⲙ ⲛⲁⲙⲛⲧⲏ ⲛⲥⲧⲁⲇⲓⲟⲛ
19 Many of the Jewish people had come to Marta and Maryam, to console them concerning their brother.
ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ⲟⲩⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ⲛⲉⲁⲩⲉⲓ ⲡⲉ ϣⲁ ⲙⲁⲣⲑⲁ ⲙⲛ ⲙⲁⲣⲓⲁ ϫⲉ ⲉⲩⲉⲥⲗⲥⲱⲗⲟⲩ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲉⲩⲥⲟⲛ
20 Then when Marta heard that Yeshua was coming, she went and met him, but Maryam stayed in the house.
ⲕ̅ⲙⲁⲣⲑⲁ ϭⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉⲥⲥⲱⲧⲙ ϫⲉ ⲓⲥ ⲛⲏⲩ ⲁⲥⲉⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲏⲧϥ ⲙⲁⲣⲓⲁ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉⲥϩⲙⲟⲟⲥ ⲡⲉ ϩⲙ ⲡⲏⲉⲓ
21 Therefore Marta said to Yeshua, "Lord, if you would have been here, my brother would not have died.
ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ⲡⲉϫⲉ ⲙⲁⲣⲑⲁ ϭⲉ ⲛⲓⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲉⲛⲉⲕⲙⲡⲉⲓⲙⲁ ⲛⲉⲣⲉⲡⲁⲥⲟⲛ ⲛⲁⲙⲟⲩ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ
22 Even now I know that whatever you ask of God, God will give you."
ⲕ̅ⲃ̅ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⲟⲛ ϯⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ϫⲉ ϩⲱⲃ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧⲕⲛⲁⲁⲓⲧⲓ ⲙⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲧⲙ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲛⲁⲧⲁⲁⲩ ⲛⲁⲕ
23 Yeshua said to her, "Your brother will rise again."
ⲕ̅ⲅ̅ⲡⲉϫⲉ ⲓⲥ ⲛⲁⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲟⲩⲥⲟⲛ ⲛⲁⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛϥ
24 Marta said to him, "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day."
ⲕ̅ⲇ̅ⲡⲉϫⲉ ⲙⲁⲣⲑⲁ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ϯⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲇⲉ ϥⲛⲁⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛ ϩⲛ ⲧⲁⲛⲁⲥⲧⲁⲥⲓⲥ ϩⲙ ⲡϩⲁⲉ ⲛϩⲟⲟⲩ
25 Yeshua said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will still live, even if he dies.
ⲕ̅ⲉ̅ⲡⲉϫⲉ ⲓⲥ ⲛⲁⲥ ϫⲉ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ ⲧⲁⲛⲁⲥⲧⲁⲥⲓⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲱⲛϩ ⲡⲉⲧⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲉⲓ ⲕⲁⲛ ⲉϥϣⲁⲛⲙⲟⲩ ϥⲛⲁⲱⲛϩ
26 And whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?" (aiōn g165)
ⲕ̅ⲋ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧⲟⲛϩ ⲉⲧⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲉⲓ ⲛϥⲛⲁⲙⲟⲩ ⲁⲛ ϣⲁ ⲉⲛⲉϩ ⲧⲉⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲉⲡⲁⲓ (aiōn g165)
27 She said to him, "Yes, Lord. I have come to believe that you are the Meshikha, the Son of God, he who comes into the world."
ⲕ̅ⲍ̅ⲡⲉϫⲁⲥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲥⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ϯⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ ⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲏⲩ ⲉⲡⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ
28 And when she had said this, she went away, and called Maryam, her sister, secretly, saying, "The Teacher is here, and is calling you."
ⲕ̅ⲏ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉⲥϫⲉ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲁⲥⲃⲱⲕ ⲁⲥⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲙⲁⲣⲓⲁ ⲧⲉⲥⲥⲱⲛⲉ ⲉⲥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲥ ⲛϫⲓⲟⲩⲉ ϫⲉ ⲁⲡⲥⲁϩ ⲉⲓ ⲁⲩⲱ ϥⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲟ
29 When she heard this, she arose quickly, and went to him.
ⲕ̅ⲑ̅ⲛⲧⲟⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉⲥⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲁⲥⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛⲥ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩϭⲉⲡⲏ ⲁⲥⲉⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϣⲁⲣⲟϥ
30 Now Yeshua had not yet come into the village, but was still in the place where Marta met him.
ⲗ̅ⲓⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉⲙⲡⲁⲧϥⲉⲓ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲡϯⲙⲉ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲉⲧⲓ ⲛⲉϥϩⲙ ⲡⲙⲁ ⲉⲛⲧⲁⲙⲁⲣⲑⲁ ⲧⲱⲙⲛⲧ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲛϩⲏⲧϥ
31 Then the Yehudeans who were with her in the house, and were consoling her, when they saw Maryam, that she rose up quickly and went out, followed her, supposing that she was going to the tomb to weep there.
ⲗ̅ⲁ̅ⲛⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ϭⲉ ⲉⲧϩⲙ ⲡⲏⲓ ⲛⲙⲙⲁⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲧⲥⲟⲗⲥⲗ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲟⲩⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲙⲁⲣⲓⲁ ϫⲉ ⲁⲥⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛⲥ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩϭⲉⲡⲏ ⲁⲥⲉⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲁⲩⲟⲩⲁϩⲟⲩ ⲛⲥⲱⲥ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲉⲥⲛⲁⲃⲱⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲉⲡⲧⲁⲫⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲉⲥⲉⲣⲓⲙⲉ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ
32 Therefore when Maryam came to where Yeshua was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying to him, "Lord, if you would have been here, my brother would not have died."
ⲗ̅ⲃ̅ⲙⲁⲣⲓⲁ ϭⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉⲥⲉⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲉⲡⲙⲁ ⲉⲛⲉⲣⲉⲓⲥ ⲛϩⲏⲧϥ ⲁⲥⲛⲟϫⲥ ϩⲁ ⲛⲉϥⲟⲩⲉⲣⲏⲧⲉ ⲉⲥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲉⲛⲉⲕⲙⲡⲉⲉⲓⲙⲁ ⲛⲉⲣⲉⲡⲁⲥⲟⲛ ⲛⲁⲙⲟⲩ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ
33 When Yeshua therefore saw her weeping, and the Yehudeans weeping who came with her, he was deeply moved in spirit and was troubled,
ⲗ̅ⲅ̅ⲓⲥ ϭⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲣⲟⲥ ⲉⲥⲣⲓⲙⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩⲉⲓ ⲛⲙⲙⲁⲥ ⲉⲩⲣⲓⲙⲉ ⲁϥϣⲧⲟⲣⲧⲣ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲡⲛⲁ ⲛⲑⲉ ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲟⲟⲧ
34 and said, "Where have you put him?" They told him, "Lord, come and see."
ⲗ̅ⲇ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛⲕⲁⲁϥ ⲧⲱⲛ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲁⲙⲟⲩ ⲛⲅⲛⲁⲩ
35 Yeshua wept.
ⲗ̅ⲉ̅ⲁϥⲣⲓⲙⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ⲓⲥ
36 The Yehudeans therefore said, "See how he loved him."
ⲗ̅ⲋ̅ⲛⲉⲩϫⲱ ϭⲉ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛϭⲓ ⲛⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ϫⲉ ⲁⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲑⲉ ⲉⲧϥⲙⲉ ⲙⲙⲟϥ
37 But some of them said, "Could not this man, who opened the eyes of him who was blind, have also kept this man from dying?"
ⲗ̅ⲍ̅ϩⲟⲓⲛⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲟⲩ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲟⲩⲱⲛ ⲛⲃⲃⲁⲗ ⲙⲡⲃⲗⲗⲉ ⲉⲓⲉ ⲛⲉⲙⲙⲛ ϭⲟⲙ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲟⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲉⲧⲙⲧⲣⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲙⲟⲩ
38 So Yeshua, deeply moved again, came to the tomb. Now it was a cave, and a stone lay against it.
ⲗ̅ⲏ̅ⲓⲥ ϭⲉ ⲟⲛ ⲉϥⲟⲟⲧ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲛϩⲏⲧϥ ⲁϥⲉⲓ ⲉⲡⲧⲁⲫⲟⲥ ⲛⲉⲟⲩⲥⲡⲏⲗⲁⲓⲟⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲉⲣⲉⲟⲩⲱⲛⲉ ϩⲓ ⲣⲱϥ
39 Yeshua said, "Take away the stone." Marta, the sister of the dead man, said to him, "Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days."
ⲗ̅ⲑ̅ⲡⲉϫⲉ ⲓⲥ ϫⲉ ϥⲓ ⲡⲱⲛⲉ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲡⲉϫⲉ ⲙⲁⲣⲑⲁ ⲛⲁϥ ⲧⲥⲱⲛⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲙⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲏⲇⲏ ⲁϥⲣ ⲥⲧⲟⲓ ⲡⲉϥϥⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲡⲉ
40 Yeshua said to her, "Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see God's glory?"
ⲙ̅ⲡⲉϫⲉ ⲓⲥ ⲛⲁⲥ ϫⲉ ⲙⲡⲓϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲛⲉ ϫⲉ ⲉⲣϣⲁⲛⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲧⲉⲛⲁⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲡⲉⲟⲟⲩ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ
41 So they took away the stone. And Yeshua lifted up his eyes, and said, "Father, I thank you that you listened to me.
ⲙ̅ⲁ̅ⲁⲩϥⲓ ⲡⲱⲛⲉ ϭⲉ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲓⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥϥⲓ ⲛⲉϥⲃⲁⲗ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲡⲉ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲓⲱⲧ ϯϣⲡϩⲙⲟⲧ ⲛⲧⲟⲟⲧⲕ ϫⲉ ⲁⲕⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲉⲣⲟⲉⲓ
42 I know that you always listen to me, but because of the crowd that stands around I said this, that they may believe that you sent me."
ⲙ̅ⲃ̅ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉⲓⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ϫⲉ ⲕⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲉⲣⲟⲉⲓ ⲛⲟⲩⲟⲓϣ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲛⲧⲁⲓϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲉⲧⲁϩⲉⲣⲁⲧϥ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲩⲉⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ ⲛⲧⲁⲕⲧⲛⲛⲟⲟⲩⲧ
43 When he had said this, he shouted with a loud voice, "Leayzar, come out."
ⲙ̅ⲅ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥϫⲉ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲁϥⲁϣⲕⲁⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲛⲟϭ ⲛⲥⲙⲏ ϫⲉ ⲗⲁⲍⲁⲣⲉ ⲁⲙⲟⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ
44 The man who had died came out, bound hand and foot with wrappings, and his face was wrapped around with a cloth. Yeshua said to them, "Free him, and let him go."
ⲙ̅ⲇ̅ⲁϥⲉⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲙⲟⲩ ⲉϥⲙⲏⲣ ⲛⲛⲉϥⲟⲩⲉⲣⲏⲧⲉ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉϥϭⲓϫ ϩⲛ ϩⲉⲛⲕⲉⲣⲉⲁ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲣⲉⲡⲉϥϩⲟ ⲙⲏⲣ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲥⲟⲩⲇⲁⲣⲓⲟⲛ ⲡⲉϫⲉ ⲓⲥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲃⲟⲗϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲕⲁⲁϥ ⲛϥⲃⲱⲕ
45 Therefore many of the Yehudeans, who came to Maryam and had seen the things which he did, believed in him.
ⲙ̅ⲉ̅ⲟⲩⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩⲉⲓ ϣⲁ ⲙⲁⲣⲓⲁ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲟⲩⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲁⲁϥ ⲁⲩⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ
46 But some of them went away to the Pharisees, and told them the things which Yeshua had done.
ⲙ̅ⲋ̅ϩⲟⲓⲛⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲃⲱⲕ ϣⲁ ⲛⲉⲫⲁⲣⲓⲥⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲧⲁⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲛⲉⲛⲧⲁⲓⲥ ⲁⲁⲩ
47 The chief priests therefore and the Pharisees gathered a council, and said, "What are we doing? For this man does many signs.
ⲙ̅ⲍ̅ⲛⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ϭⲉ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲫⲁⲣⲓⲥⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲥⲱⲟⲩϩ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲙⲡⲥⲩⲛϩⲉⲇⲣⲓⲟⲛ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲛⲁⲁⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲓⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲣ ϩⲁϩ ⲙⲙⲁⲓⲛ
48 If we leave him alone like this, everyone will believe in him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation."
ⲙ̅ⲏ̅ⲉⲛϣⲁⲕⲁⲁϥ ⲛⲧⲉⲓϩⲉ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲛⲁⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲥⲉⲉⲓ ⲛϭⲓ ⲛⲉϩⲣⲱⲙⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲛⲥⲉϥⲓ ⲛⲧⲟⲟⲧⲛ ⲙⲡⲉⲛⲙⲁ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲛϩⲉⲑⲛⲟⲥ
49 But a certain one of them, Qayapha, being high priest that year, said to them, "You know nothing at all,
ⲙ̅ⲑ̅ⲟⲩⲁ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ⲕⲁⲓⲫⲁⲥ ⲉⲡⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲡⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲟⲙⲡⲉ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲱⲧⲛ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲛ ⲛⲗⲁⲁⲩ
50 nor do you consider that it is advantageous for you that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation not perish."
ⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲗⲟⲅⲓⲍⲉ ⲁⲛ ϫⲉ ⲥⲣⲛⲟϥⲣⲉ ⲛⲁⲛ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲣⲉⲟⲩⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲛⲟⲩⲱⲧ ⲙⲟⲩ ϩⲁ ⲡⲗⲁⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲙⲡϩⲉⲑⲛⲟⲥ ⲧⲏⲣϥ ϩⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ
51 Now he did not say this of himself, but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Yeshua would die for the nation,
ⲛ̅ⲁ̅ⲛⲧⲁϥϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲛ ϩⲁⲣⲟϥ ⲙⲙⲁⲩⲁⲁϥ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲉⲡⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲡⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲟⲙⲡⲉ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲁϥⲡⲣⲟⲫⲏⲧⲉⲩⲉ ϫⲉ ⲛⲉⲣⲉⲓⲥ ⲛⲁⲙⲟⲩ ϩⲁ ⲡϩⲉⲑⲛⲟⲥ
52 and not for the nation only, but that he might also gather together into one the children of God who are scattered abroad.
ⲛ̅ⲃ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ϩⲁ ⲡϩⲉⲑⲛⲟⲥ ⲁⲛ ⲙⲙⲁⲧⲉ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲟⲛ ⲛϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲧϫⲟⲟⲣⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲉϥⲉⲥⲟⲟⲩϩⲟⲩ ⲉⲩⲙⲁ ⲛⲟⲩⲱⲧ
53 So from that day on they plotted to kill him.
ⲛ̅ⲅ̅ϫⲓⲛ ⲡⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ϭⲉ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲁⲩϫⲓϣⲟϫⲛⲉ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲩⲉⲙⲟⲩⲟⲩⲧ ⲙⲙⲟϥ
54 Yeshua therefore walked no more openly among the Yehudeans, but departed from there into the country near the wilderness, to a city called Aphreeim; and stayed there with his disciples.
ⲛ̅ⲇ̅ⲓⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉϥⲙⲟⲟϣⲉ ϭⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲁⲣⲣⲏⲥⲓⲁ ϩⲛ ⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲁϥⲃⲱⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ ⲡⲙⲁ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲉⲧⲉⲭⲱⲣⲁ ⲉⲧϩⲏⲛ ⲉⲧⲉⲣⲏⲙⲟⲥ ⲉⲩⲡⲟⲗⲓⲥ ⲉⲩⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲉⲫⲣⲁⲓⲙ ⲁϥϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉϥⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ
55 Now the Jewish Passover was near, and many went up from the country to Urishlim before the Passover, to purify themselves.
ⲛ̅ⲉ̅ⲛⲉϥϩⲏⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡⲡⲁⲥⲭⲁ ⲛⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉⲑⲓⲉⲣⲟⲩⲥⲁⲗⲏⲙ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲧⲉⲭⲱⲣⲁ ϩⲁ ⲑⲏ ⲙⲡⲡⲁⲥⲭⲁ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲩⲉⲧⲃⲃⲟⲟⲩ
56 Then they sought for Yeshua and spoke one with another, as they stood in the temple, "What do you think—that he is not coming to the feast at all?"
