Psalms 48

1 “A song and psalm by the sons of Korach.” Great is the Lord, and highly praised in the city of our God, [in] his holy mountain.

Grande é o Senhor e mui digno de louvor, na cidade do nosso Deus, no seu monte santo.

2 A beautiful district, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, the farthest north, the city of the great King.

Formoso de sítio, e alegria de toda a terra é o monte de Sião sobre os lados do norte, a cidade do grande Rei.

3 God is become known in her palaces as a defence.

Deus é conhecido nos seus palácios por um alto refúgio.

4 For, lo, the kings were assembled, they are passed away together.

Porque eis que os reis se ajuntaram: eles passaram juntos.

5 They indeed saw—[and] so they were astonished; they were terrified, they were confounded.

Viram-no, e ficaram maravilhados; ficaram assombrados e se apressaram em fugir.

6 Trembling seized on them there, pain, as on a woman in travail.

Tremor ali os tomou, e dores como de mulher de parto.

7 With the east wind thou breakest the ships of Tharshish.

Tu quebras as naus de Tarsis com um vento oriental.

8 As we have heard, so have we seen [it] in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. (Selah)

Como o ouvimos, assim o vimos na cidade do Senhor dos exércitos, na cidade do nosso Deus. Deus a confirmará para sempre (Selah)

9 We have reflected on thy kindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple.

Lembramo-nos, ó Deus, da tua benignidade no meio do teu templo.

10 As thy name is, O God, so is thy praise over the ends of the earth: of righteousness is thy right hand full.

Segundo é o teu nome, ó Deus, assim é o teu louvor, até aos fins da terra: a tua mão direita está cheia de justiça.

11 Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of thy judgments.

Alegre-se o monte de Sião; alegrem-se as filhas de Judá por causa dos teus juízos.

12 Compass Zion about, and walk round about her; number her towers.

Rodeai Sião, e cercai-a, contai as suas torres.

13 Direct your mind to her outer wall, mark carefully her palaces: in order that ye may tell it to the latest generation.

Marcai bem os seus antemuros, considerai os seus palácios, para que o conteis à geração seguinte.

14 For this One is God, our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.

Porque este Deus é o nosso Deus para sempre, ele será nosso guia até à morte.
