2 Kings 19
1 And it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard it, that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of the Lord.
E aconteceu que Ezequias, tendo-o ouvido, rasgou os seus vestidos, e se cubriu de saco, e entrou na casa do Senhor.
2 And he sent Elyakim, who was superintendent over the house, and Shebnah the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz.
Então enviou a Eliakim, o mordomo, e a Sebna, o escrivão, e os anciãos dos sacerdotes, cobertos de sacos, ao profeta Isaias, filho de Amós.
3 And they said unto him, Thus hath said Hezekiah, A day of trouble, and of rebuke, and derision is this day; for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.
E disseram-lhe: Assim diz Ezequias: Este dia é dia de angústia, e de vituperação, e de blasfêmia; porque os filhos chegaram ao parto, e não há força para parir.
4 Perhaps the Lord thy God will hear all the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master hath sent to blaspheme the living God; and who hath reproached with the words which the Lord thy God hath heard: wherefore lift up a prayer in behalf of the remnant that is still found here.
Bem pode ser que o Senhor teu Deus ouça todas as palavras de Rabsaké, a quem enviou o seu senhor, o rei da Assyria, para afrontar o Deus vivo, e para vitupera-lo com as palavras que o Senhor teu Deus tem ouvido: faze pois oração pelo resto que se acha.
5 And the servants of king Hezekiah came to Isaiah.
E os servos do rei Ezequias vieram a Isaias.
6 And Isaiah said unto them, Thus shall ye say to your master, Thus hath said the Lord, Be not afraid because of the words which thou hast heard, with which the boys of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.
E Isaias lhes disse: Assim direis a vosso senhor: Assim diz o Senhor: Não temas as palavras que ouviste, com as quais os servos do rei da Assyria me blasfemaram.
7 Behold, I will put an [other] spirit in him, that when he will hear a rumor, he shall return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.
Eis que meterei nele um espírito, e ele ouvirá um arroido, e voltará para a sua terra: à espada o farei cair na sua terra.
8 And Rabshakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah; for he had heard that he was departed from Lachish.
Voltou pois Rabsaké, e achou o rei da Assyria pelejando contra Libna, porque tinha ouvido que se havia partido de Lachis.
9 And he heard it said of Thirhakah the king of Ethiopia, Behold, he is come out to fight with thee; and he again sent messengers unto Hezekiah, saying,
E, ouvindo ele dizer de Tirhaká, rei de Cus: Eis que há saído para te fazer guerra; tornou a enviar mensageiros a Ezequias, dizendo:
10 Thus shall ye say to Hezekiah the king of Judah, as followeth, Let not thy God in whom thou trustest deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be given up into the hand of the king of Assyria.
Assim falareis a Ezequias, rei de Judá, dizendo: Não te engane o teu Deus, em quem confias, dizendo: Jerusalém não será entregue na mão do rei d'Assyria.
11 Behold, thou thyself hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the lands, by destroying them utterly: and thou alone shouldst be delivered?
Eis que já tens ouvido o que fizeram os reis da Assyria a todas as terras, destruindo-as totalmente, e tu te livrarás?
12 Have the gods of the nations which my fathers destroyed delivered them; as Gozan, and Charan, and Rezeph, and the children of 'Eden, who were in Thelassar?
Porventura as livraram os deuses das nações, a quem destruiram, como a Gozan e a Haran? e a Reseph, e aos filhos de Éden, que estavam em Telassar?
13 Where is the king of Chamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvayim, of Hena', and 'Ivvah?
Que é feito do rei de Hamath, e do rei de Arpad, e do rei da cidade de Sepharvaim, Hena e Iva?
14 And Hezekiah took the letters out of the hand of the messengers, and read them: and Hezekiah went up into the house of the Lord, and spread them out before the Lord.
Recebendo pois Ezequias as cartas das mãos dos mensageiros, e lendo-as, subiu à casa do Senhor, e Ezequias as estendeu perante o Senhor.
15 And Hezekiah prayed before the Lord, and said, O Lord God of Israel, who dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the [true] God, thou alone, for all the kingdoms of the earth; for it is thou who hast made the heavens and the earth.
E orou Ezequias perante o Senhor, e disse: Ó Senhor Deus de Israel, que habitas entre os cherubins, tu mesmo, só tu és Deus de todos os reinos da terra: tu fizeste os céus e a terra.
16 Bend down, O Lord, thy ear, and hear! open, O Lord, thy eyes, and see! and hear the words of Sennacherib, that which he hath sent to blaspheme the living God.
Inclina, Senhor, o teu ouvido, e ouve; abre, Senhor, os teus olhos, e olha: e ouve as palavras de Sanherib, que enviou a este, para afrontar o Deus vivo.
17 Truly, Lord, the kings of Assyria have devastated the nations and their land,
Verdade é, ó Senhor, que os reis da Assyria assolaram as nações e as suas terras,
18 And they have placed their gods into the fire; for they are no gods, but the work of man's hands, wood and stone: and these have they destroyed.
E lançaram os seus deuses no fogo; porquanto deuses não eram, mas obra de mãos de homens, madeira e pedra; por isso os destruiram.
19 And now, O Lord our God, save us, I beseech thee, out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the Lord God, thou alone.
Agora pois, ó Senhor nosso Deus, sê servido de nos livrar da sua mão: e assim saberão todos os reinos da terra que só tu és o Senhor Deus.
20 Then sent Isaiah the son of Amoz to Hezekiah, saying, Thus hath said the Lord the God of Israel, What thou hast prayed to me concerning Sennacherib the king of Assyria have I heard.
Então Isaias, filho de Amós, mandou dizer a Ezequias: Assim diz o Senhor Deus de Israel: O que me pediste acerca de Sanherib, rei da Assyria, ouvi.
21 This is the word that the Lord hath spoken over him: She despiseth thee, she laugheth thee to scorn, the virgin daughter of Zion; behind thee shaketh her head the daughter of Jerusalem.
Esta é a palavra que o Senhor falou dele: A virgem, a filha de Sião, te despreza, de ti zomba; a filha de Jerusalém menea a cabeça por detraz de ti
22 Whom hast thou blasphemed, and [whom] hast thou scorned? and against whom hast thou raised thy voice, and lifted up thy eyes on high? against the Holy One of Israel.
A quem afrontaste e blasfemaste? E contra quem alçaste a voz, e ergueste os teus olhos ao alto? Contra o Santo de Israel?
23 By thy messengers thou hast blasphemed the Lord and hast said, With the multitude of my chariots am I indeed come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon, and I will cut down its tall cedars, the choice of its fir-trees: and I will enter into the lodgings on its summit, the forest of its fruitful soil.
Por meio de teus mensageiros afrontaste o Senhor, e disseste: Com a multidão de meus carros subo eu ao alto dos montes, aos lados do líbano, e cortarei os seus altos cedros, e as suas mais formosas faias, e entrarei nas suas pousadas extremas, até no bosque do seu campo fértil.
24 I have dug and drunk strange waters, and I will dry up with the sole of my feet all the streams of besieged places.
Eu cavei, e bebi águas estranhas; e com as plantas de meus pés sequei todos os rios dos lugares fortes.
25 Hadst thou not heard that in distant ages I had prepared this? in the times of antiquity when I formed it? now have I brought it along, and it came to pass, to desolate into ruinous heaps fortified cities.
Porventura não ouviste que já de antes fiz isto, e já desde os dias antigos o formei? agora porém o fiz vir, para que fosses tu que reduzisses as cidades fortes a montões desertos.
26 And thus their inhabitants were short of power, they were dismayed and confounded; they were as the herbs of the field, and as the green grass; as the moss on the housetops, and as corn blasted before the ear appeareth.
Por isso os moradores delas, com as mãos encolhidas, ficaram pasmados e confundidos: eram como a erva do campo, e a hortaliça verde, e o feno dos telhados, e o trigo queimado, antes que se levante.
27 But thy abiding and thy going out and thy coming in do I know, and thy raging against me.
Porém o teu assentar, e o teu sair, e o teu entrar, eu o sei, e o teu furor contra mim.
28 Because of thy raging against me and thy tumult that is come up into my ears, will I put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle between thy lips; and I will cause thee to turn back on the way by which thou camest.
Por causa do teu furor contra mim, e porque a tua revolta subiu aos meus ouvidos; portanto porei o meu anzol no teu nariz, e o meu freio nos teus beiços, e te farei voltar pelo caminho por onde vieste.
29 And this shall be unto thee the sign, Ye shall eat this year what groweth of itself, and in the second year what springeth up after the same; and in the third year sow and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat their fruit.
E isto te será por sinal: este ano se comerá o que nascer por si mesmo, e no ano seguinte o que daí proceder; porém o terceiro ano semeai e segai, e plantai vinhas, e comei os seus frutos.
30 And the remnant of the house of Judah that is escaped shall yet again strike root downward, and bear fruit upward.
Porque o que escapou da casa de Judá, e ficou de resto, tornará a lançar raízes para baixo, e dará fruto para cima.
31 For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and that which escapeth out of mount Zion: the zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.
Porque de Jerusalém sairá o restante, e do monte de Sião o que escapou: o zelo do Senhor fará isto.
32 Therefore thus hath said the Lord concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, and he shall not shoot an arrow thereon, nor come before it with shield, nor cast up against it an embankment.
Portanto, assim diz o Senhor acerca do rei d'Assyria: Não entrará nesta cidade, nem lançará nela flecha alguma: tão pouco virá perante ela com escudo, nem levantará contra ela tranqueira alguma.
33 On the way by which he came, by the same shall he return, and into this city shall he not come, saith the Lord.
Pelo caminho por onde vier por ele voltará; porém nesta cidade não entrará, diz o Senhor.
34 And I will shield this city, to save it, for my own sake, and for the sake of David my servant.
Porque eu ampararei a esta cidade, para a livrar, por amor de mim e por amor do meu servo David.
35 And it came to pass, on the same night, that an angel of the Lord went out and smote in the camp of the Assyrians one hundred eighty and five thousand men: and when people arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.
Sucedeu pois que naquela mesma noite saiu o anjo do Senhor, e feriu no arraial dos assyrios a cento e oitenta e cinco mil deles; e, levantando-se pela manhã cedo, eis que todos eram corpos mortos.
36 And Sennacherib the king of Assyria then departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.
Então Sanherib, rei d'Assyria, partiu, e se foi, e voltou: e ficou em Nínive.
37 And it came to pass, as he was prostrating himself in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons smote him with the sword: and they escaped into the land of Ararat. And Essar-chaddon his son became king in his stead.
E sucedeu que, estando ele prostrado na casa de Nisroch, seu deus, Adram-melech e Sarezer, seus filhos, o feriram à espada; porém eles escaparam para a terra d'Ararat: e Esar-Haddon, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.
