Ephesians 1
1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:
Paul, apôtre de Jésus-Christ par la volonté de Dieu, aux saints qui sont à Éphèse, aux fidèles en Jésus-Christ.
2 Grace [be] to you, and peace, from God our Father, and [from] the Lord Jesus Christ.
Que la grâce et la paix vous soient données de la part de Dieu, notre Père, et du Seigneur Jésus-Christ.
3 Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly [places] in Christ:
Béni soit Dieu, le Père de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, qui nous a comblés en Christ de toutes sortes de bénédictions spirituelles dans les lieux célestes,
4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
nous qu'il a élus en lui, avant la création du monde, pour que nous soyons saints et irrépréhensibles devant Dieu,
5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
nous ayant prédestinés, dans son amour, à devenir ses enfants d'adoption par Jésus-Christ, selon le bon plaisir de sa volonté,
6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
à la louange de la grâce magnifique qu'il nous a gratuitement accordée en son Fils bien-aimé!
7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
C'est en lui que nous avons la rédemption par son rang, la rémission des péchés, selon les richesses de sa grâce
8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
que Dieu a répandue abondamment sur nous, avec toute sorte de sagesse et d'intelligence,
9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
en nous faisant connaître le mystère de sa volonté, suivant le dessein que, dans sa bienveillance, il avait d'avance formé en lui-même, —
10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; [even] in him:
pour en assurer l'exécution, quand les temps seraient accomplis, — de réunir toutes choses en Christ, aussi bien celles qui sont dans les cieux que celles qui sont sur la terre.
11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
C'est en lui aussi que nous avons été rendus participants de l'héritage, comme nous y avions été prédestinés, suivant le dessein de Celui qui opère toutes choses conformément à la décision de sa volonté,
12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
afin que nous servions à célébrer sa gloire, nous qui avons, les premiers, espéré en Christ.
13 In whom ye also [trusted], after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
C'est en lui que vous aussi, après avoir entendu la parole de la vérité, l'Évangile de votre salut, — c'est en lui que vous avez cru et que vous avez été scellés du Saint-Esprit qui avait été promis,
14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
lequel est un gage de notre héritage, jusqu'à la rédemption de ceux qu'il s'est acquis pour célébrer sa gloire.
15 Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,
C'est pourquoi, ayant entendu parler, moi aussi, de votre foi au Seigneur Jésus et de votre charité envers tous les saints,
16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
je ne cesse de rendre grâces pour vous, faisant mention de vous dans mes prières.
17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
Je prie le Dieu de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, le Père de gloire, de vous accorder un esprit de sagesse et de révélation qui vous apprenne à le connaître,
18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
et d'illuminer les yeux de votre coeur afin que vous sachiez quelle est l'espérance que fait naître en nous son appel, quelles sont, pour les saints, les richesses de son glorieux héritage,
19 And what [is] the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
et quelle est, envers nous qui croyons, l'infinie grandeur de sa puissance qui agit par la vertu souveraine de sa force.
20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set [him] at his own right hand in the heavenly [places],
C'est cette puissance qu'il a déployée dans le Christ, en le ressuscitant des morts et en le faisant asseoir à sa droite dans les lieux célestes,
21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: (aiōn g165)
au-dessus de tout pouvoir, de toute autorité, de toute puissance, de toute souveraineté, de tout nom qui puisse être nommé, non seulement dans ce siècle, mais aussi dans celui qui est à venir. (aiōn g165)
22 And hath put all [things] under his feet, and gave him [to be] the head over all [things] to the church,
Il a mis toutes choses sous ses pieds, et il l'a donné pour chef suprême à l'Église,
23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
qui est son corps, la plénitude de Celui qui remplit tout en tous.
