Romans 3
1 What advantage then has the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision?
¿Qué ventaja tiene, pues, el judío? o ¿qué aprovecha la circuncisión?
2 Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.
Mucho en todo sentido; porque primeramente les fueron confiados los oráculos de Dios.
3 For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?
¿Qué importa si algunos de ellos permanecieron incrédulos? ¿Acaso su incredulidad hará nula la fidelidad de Dios?
4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That you might be justified in your sayings, (logos) and might overcome when you are judged.
De ninguna manera. Antes bien, hay que reconocer que Dios es veraz, y todo hombre mentiroso, según está escrito: “Para que seas justificado en tus palabras, y venzas cuando vengas a juicio”.
5 But if our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who takes vengeance? (I speak as a man)
Mas si nuestra injusticia da realce a la justicia de Dios, ¿qué diremos? ¿Será acaso Dios injusto si descarga su ira? —hablo como hombre—.
6 God forbid: for then how shall God judge the world?
No por cierto. ¿Cómo podría entonces Dios juzgar al mundo?
7 For if the truth of God has more abounded through my lie unto his glory; why yet am I also judged as a sinner?
Pues si la veracidad de Dios, por medio de mi falsedad, redunda en mayor gloria suya, ¿por qué he de ser yo aun condenado como pecador?
8 And not rather, (as we be slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say, ) Let us do evil, that good may come? whose damnation is just.
Y ¿por qué no ( decir ), según nos calumnian, y como algunos afirman que nosotros decimos: “Hagamos el mal para que venga el bien”? Justa es la condenación de los tales.
9 What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;
¿Qué decir entonces? ¿Tenemos acaso alguna ventaja nosotros? No, de ningún modo, porque hemos probado ya que tanto los judíos como los griegos, todos, están bajo el pecado;
10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
según está escrito: “No hay justo, ni siquiera uno;
11 There is none that understands, there is none that seeks after God.
no hay quien entienda, no hay quien busque a Dios.
12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become useless; there is none that does good, no, not one.
Todos se han extraviado, a una se han hecho inútiles; no hay quien haga el bien, no hay ni uno siquiera.
13 Their throat is an open tomb; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:
Sepulcro abierto es su garganta, con sus lenguas urden engaño, veneno de áspides hay bajo sus labios,
14 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:
su boca rebosa maldición y amargura.
15 Their feet are swift to shed blood:
Veloces son sus pies para derramar sangre;
16 Destruction and misery are in their ways:
destrucción y miseria están en sus caminos;
17 And the way of peace have they not known:
y el camino de la paz no lo conocieron.
18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.
No hay temor de Dios ante sus ojos”.
19 Now we know that what things whatsoever the law says, it says to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
Ahora bien, sabemos que cuanto dice la Ley, lo dice a los que están bajo la Ley, para que toda boca enmudezca y el mundo entero sea reo ante Dios;
20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
dado que por obras de la Ley no será justificada delante de Él carne alguna; pues por medio de la Ley ( nos viene ) el conocimiento del pecado.
21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
Mas ahora, aparte de la Ley, se ha manifestado ( cuál sea la ) justicia de Dios, atestiguada por la Ley y los Profetas:
22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
justicia de Dios por la fe en Jesucristo, para todos lo que creen —pues no hay distinción alguna,
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
ya que todos han pecado y están privados de la gloria de Dios—,
24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
( los cuales son ) justificados gratuitamente por su gracia, mediante la redención que es por Cristo Jesús,
25 Whom God has set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
a quien Dios puso como instrumento de propiciación, por medio de la fe en su sangre, para que aparezca la justicia suya —por haberse disimulado los anteriores pecados
26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believes in Jesus.
en ( el tiempo de ) la paciencia de Dios— para manifestar su justicia en el tiempo actual, a fin de que sea Él mismo justo y justificador del que tiene fe en Jesús.
27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
¿Dónde, pues, el gloriarse? Excluido está. ¿Por cuál Ley? ¿la de las obras? No, sino por la Ley de la fe.
28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
En conclusión decimos, pues, que el hombre es justificado por la fe, sin las obras de la Ley.
29 Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also:
¿Acaso Dios es solo el Dios de los judíos? ¿No lo es también de los gentiles? Ciertamente, también de los gentiles;
30 Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.
puesto que uno mismo es el Dios que justificará a los circuncisos en virtud de la fe y a los incircuncisos por medio de la fe.
31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.
¿Anulamos entonces la Ley por la fe? De ninguna manera; antes bien, confirmamos la Ley.
