Hebrews 12
1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which does so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
Por esto también nosotros, teniendo en derredor nuestro una tan grande nube de testigos, arrojemos toda carga y pecado que nos asedia, y corramos mediante la paciencia la carrera que se nos propone,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
poniendo los ojos en Jesús, el autor y consumador de la fe, el cual en vez del gozo puesto delante de Él, soportó la cruz, sin hacer caso de la ignominia, y se sentó a la diestra de Dios.
3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest all of you be wearied and faint in your minds.
Considerad, pues, a Aquel que soportó la contradicción de los pecadores contra sí mismo, a fin de que no desmayéis ni caigáis de ánimo.
4 All of you have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.
Aún no habéis resistido hasta la sangre, luchando contra el pecado,
5 And all of you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks unto you as unto children, My son, despise not you the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you are rebuked of him:
y os habéis olvidado de la consolación que a vosotros como a hijos se dirige: “Hijo mío, no tengas en poco la corrección del Señor, ni caigas de ánimo cuando eres reprendido por Él;
6 For whom the Lord loves he chastens, and scourges every son whom he receives.
porque el Señor corrige a quien ama, y a todo el que recibe por hijo, le azota”.
7 If all of you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chastens not?
Soportad, pues, la corrección. Dios os trata como a hijos. ¿Hay hijo a quien su padre no corrija?
8 But if all of you be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are all of you bastards, and not sons.
Si quedáis fuera de la corrección, de la cual han participado todos, en realidad sois bastardos y no hijos.
9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, (pneuma) and live?
Más aún, nosotros hemos tenido nuestros padres según la carne que nos corregían, y los respetábamos. ¿No nos hemos de someter mucho más al Padre de los espíritus, para vivir?
10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.
Y a la verdad, aquellos castigaban para unos pocos días, según su arbitrio, mas Este lo hace en nuestro provecho, para que participemos de su santidad.
11 Now no chastening for the present seems to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.
Ninguna corrección parece por el momento cosa de gozo, sino de tristeza; pero más tarde da a los ejercitados por ella el apacible fruto de justicia.
12 Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;
Por lo cual “enderezad las manos caídas y las rodillas flojas,
13 And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.
y haced derechas las sendas para vuestros pies”, a fin de que no se descamine lo que es cojo, antes bien sea sanado.
14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
Procurad tener paz con todos y la santidad, sin la cual nadie verá al Señor.
15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;
Atended a que ninguno quede privado de la gracia de Dios; que no brote ninguna raíz de amargura, no sea que cause perturbación y sean por ella inficionados los muchos;
16 Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright.
que no haya ningún fornicario o profanador, como Esaú, el que por una comida vendió su primogenitura.
17 For all of you know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.
Pues ya sabéis que aun cuando después deseaba heredar la bendición, fue desechado y no pudo cambiar los sentimientos ( de su padre ), por más que lo solicitase con lágrimas.
18 For all of you are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest,
Porque no os habéis acercado a monte palpable, fuego encendido, nube, tinieblas, tempestad,
19 And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; (rhema) which voice they that heard implored that the word (logos) should not be spoken to them any more:
sonido de trompeta y voz de palabras, respecto de la cual los que la oyeron pidieron que no se les hablase más;
20 (For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart:
porque no podían soportar lo mandado: “Aun una bestia que tocare el monte será apedreada”.
21 And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake: )
Y era tan espantoso lo que se veía, que Moisés dijo: “Estoy aterrado y temblando”.
22 But all of you are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,
Vosotros, empero, os habéis acercado al monte Sión, ciudad del Dios vivo, Jerusalén celestial, miríadas de ángeles, asamblea general,
23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits (pneuma) of just men made perfect,
e Iglesia de primogénitos, inscritos en el cielo, a Dios, Juez de todos, a espíritus de justos ya perfectos,
24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaks better things that that of Abel.
a Jesús, Mediador de nueva Alianza, y a sangre de aspersión, que habla mejor que la de Abel.
25 See that all of you refuse not him that speaks. For if they escaped not who refused him that spoke on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaks from heaven:
Mirad que no recuséis al que habla: si aquellos que recusaron al que sobre la tierra promulgaba la revelación no pudieron escapar ( al castigo ), mucho menos nosotros, si rechazamos a Aquel que nos habla desde el cielo:
26 Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he has promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.
cuya voz entonces sacudió la tierra y ahora nos hace esta promesa: “Una vez todavía sacudiré no solamente la tierra, sino también el cielo”.
27 And this word, Yet once more, signifies the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.
Eso de “una vez todavía” indica que las cosas sacudidas van a ser cambiadas, como que son creaturas, a fin de que permanezcan las no conmovibles.
28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:
Por eso, aceptando el reino inconmovible, tengamos gratitud por la cual tributemos a Dios culto agradable con reverencia y temor.
29 For our God is a consuming fire.
Porque nuestro Dios es fuego devorador.
