Acts 6
1 And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.
En aquellos días al crecer el número de los discípulos, se produjo una queja de los griegos contra los hebreos, porque sus viudas eran desatendidas en el suministro cotidiano.
2 Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word (logos) of God, and serve tables.
Por lo cual los doce convocaron la asamblea de los discípulos y dijeron: “No es justo que nosotros descuidemos la palabra de Dios para servir a las mesas.
3 Wherefore, brethren, look all of you out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Spirit (pneuma) and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.
Elegid, pues, oh hermanos, de entre vosotros a siete varones de buena fama, llenos de espíritu y de sabiduría, a los cuales entreguemos este cargo.
4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word. (logos)
Nosotros, empero, perseveraremos en la oración y en el ministerio de la palabra”.
5 And the saying (logos) pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, (pneuma) and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:
Agradó esta proposición a toda la asamblea, y eligieron a Esteban, varón lleno de fe y del Espíritu Santo, y a Felipe, a Prócoro, a Nicanor, a Timón, a Parmenas y a Nicolás, prosélito de Antioquía.
6 Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.
A estos los presentaron a los apóstoles, los cuales, habiendo hecho oración, les impusieron las manos.
7 And the word (logos) of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.
Mientras tanto la palabra de Dios iba creciendo, y aumentaba sobremanera el número de los discípulos en Jerusalén. También muchos de los sacerdotes obedecían a la fe.
8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.
Esteban, lleno de gracia y de poder, obraba grandes prodigios y milagros en el pueblo.
9 Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen.
Por lo cual se levantaron algunos de la sinagoga llamada de los libertinos, de los cireneos, de los alejandrinos y de los de Cilicia y Asia, y disputaron con Esteban,
10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit (pneuma) by which he spoke.
mas no podían resistir a la sabiduría y al espíritu con que hablaba.
11 Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words (rhema) against Moses, and against God.
Entonces sobornaron a algunos hombres que decían: “Le hemos oído proferir palabras blasfemas contra Moisés y contra Dios”.
12 And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council,
También alborotaron al pueblo, a los ancianos y a los escribas, y cayendo sobre él, lo arrebataron y lo llevaron al sinedrio,
13 And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceases not to speak blasphemous words (rhema) against this holy place, and the law:
presentando testigos falsos que decían: “Este hombre no deja de proferir palabras contra el lugar santo y contra la Ley.
14 For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us.
Porque le hemos oído decir que Jesús, el Nazareno, destruirá este lugar y mudará las costumbres que nos ha transmitido Moisés”.
15 And all that sat in the council, looking steadfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.
Y fijando en él los, ojos todos los que estaban sentados en el sinedrio, vieron su rostro como el rostro de un ángel.
