2 Timothy 1

1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,

Pablo, apóstol de Cristo Jesús, por la voluntad de Dios, según la promesa de vida en Cristo Jesús,

2 To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

a Timoteo el hijo amado: gracia, misericordia, paz, de parte de Dios Padre, y de Cristo Jesús nuestro Señor.

3 I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of you in my prayers night and day;

Doy gracias a Dios, a quien sirvo desde mis mayores con conciencia pura, de cómo sin cesar hago memoria de ti en mis oraciones, noche y día,

4 Greatly desiring to see you, being mindful of your tears, that I may be filled with joy;

anhelando verte, al acordarme de tus lágrimas, para llenarme de gozo;

5 When I call to remembrance the sincere faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois, and your mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in you also.

porque traigo a la memoria la fe, que en ti no es fingida, la cual habitó primero en tu abuela Loida y en tu madre Eunice y que estoy seguro habita también en ti.

6 Wherefore I put you in remembrance that you stir up the gift of God, which is in you by the putting on of my hands.

Por esto te exhorto a que reavives el carisma de Dios que por medio de la imposición de mis manos está en ti.

7 For God has not given us the spirit (pneuma) of fear; but of power, and of love, (agape) and of a sound mind.

Porque no nos ha dado Dios espíritu de timidez, sino de fortaleza y de amor y de templanza.

8 Be not you therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be you partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;

No te avergüences, pues, del testimonio de nuestro Señor, ni de mí, su prisionero, antes bien comparte mis trabajos por la causa del Evangelio mediante el poder de Dios;

9 Who has saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, (aiōnios g166)

el cual nos salvó y nos llamó con vocación santa, no en virtud de nuestras obras, sino en virtud de su propio designio y de la gracia que nos dio en Cristo Jesús antes de los tiempos eternos, (aiōnios g166)

10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who has abolished death, and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:

y que ahora ha manifestado por la aparición de nuestro Salvador Cristo Jesús, que aniquiló la muerte e irradió la vida e inmortalidad por medio del Evangelio,

11 Unto which I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.

del cual yo fui constituido heraldo y apóstol y doctor.

12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

Por cuya causa padezco estas cosas, mas no me avergüenzo, puesto que sé a quién he creído, y estoy cierto de que Él es poderoso para guardar mi depósito hasta aquel día.

13 Hold fast the form of sound words, (logos) which you have heard of me, in faith and love (agape) which is in Christ Jesus.

Conserva las palabras saludables en la misma forma que de mí las oíste con fe y amor en Cristo Jesús.

14 That good thing which was committed unto you keep by the Holy Spirit (pneuma) which dwells in us.

Guarda el buen depósito por medio del Espíritu Santo que habita en nosotros.

15 This you know, that all they which are in Asia be turned away from me; of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes.

Ya sabes que me han abandonado todos los de Asia, de cuyo número son Figelo y Hermógenes.

16 The Lord give mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus; for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain:

Conceda el Señor misericordia a la casa de Onesíforo, porque muchas veces me alivió y no se avergonzó de mis cadenas;

17 But, when he was in Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me.

antes, llegado a Roma, me buscó diligentemente hasta dar conmigo.

18 The Lord grant unto him that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day: and in how many things he ministered unto me at Ephesus, you know very well.

Concédale el Señor que halle misericordia delante del Señor en aquel día. ¡Y cuántos servicios me prestó en Éfeso! Tú lo sabes muy bien.
