Luke 18
1 And he spoke a parable to them to this end, that men should always to pray, and not to faint;
彼はまた，いつも祈っていなければならず，あきらめてはならないことを，彼らにたとえで話して
2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:
言った，「ある町に，神を恐れず，人をも敬わない一人の裁判官がいた。
3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, Avenge me of my adversary.
その町には一人のやもめがおり，何度も彼のもとに来ては，『わたしを訴える者からわたしを弁護してください！』と言っていた。
4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;
彼は，しばらくの間はそうしようとはしなかったが，後になって自分に言った，『わたしは神を恐れず，人をも敬わないが，
5 Yet because this widow troubles me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.
それでもこのやもめがわたしを煩わすので，彼女を弁護してやろう。そうしないと，彼女は絶え間なくやって来て，わたしを疲れ果てさせるだろう』」 。
6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge says.
主は言った，「この不義の裁判官の言うことを聞きなさい。
7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night to him, though he bear long with them?
まして神は，昼も夜もご自分に向かって叫んでいる，ご自分の選ばれた者たちのあだを討たずに，彼らのことを我慢し続けられることがあるだろうか。
8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man comes, shall he find faith on the earth?
あなた方に告げるが，神は速やかに彼らのあだを討たれるだろう。それでも，人の子が来る時，地上に信仰を見いだすだろうか」 。
9 And he spoke this parable to certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:
彼はまた，自分の義を確信しており，他のすべての人たちをさげすんでいたある人々に対して，次のたとえを語った。
10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
「二人の人が祈るために神殿に上って行った。一人はファリサイ人で，もう一人は徴税人だった。
11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank you, that I am not as other men are, extortionists, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
ファリサイ人は立って，自分の中でこのように祈った。『神よ，わたしがほかの者たち，すなわち，奪い取る者たち，不義の者たち，姦淫を犯す者たちのようでなく，さらにはこの徴税人のようでさえないことに感謝します。
12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
わたしは週に二度断食しています。自分の得るすべてのものの十分の一税をささげています』。
13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes to heaven, but smote on his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
だが，徴税人は，遠くに立ち，目を天に上げようともせず，胸を打ちながら言った，『神よ，罪人のわたしをあわれんでください！』
14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalts himself shall be abased; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.
あなた方に告げるが，この人は，最初の人よりも義とされて自分の家に下って行った。だれでも自分を高くする者は低くされ，自分を低くする者は高くされるのだ」 。
15 And they brought to him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
人々はまた，彼に触ってもらおうとして，赤子たちを彼のもとに連れて来ていた。しかし，弟子たちはそれを見て，彼らをしかりつけた。
16 But Jesus called them to him, and said, Suffer little children to come to me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
イエスは彼らを呼び寄せて言った，「幼子たちがわたしのところに来るままにしておきなさい。彼らをとどめてはいけない。神の王国はこのような者たちのものだからだ。
17 Truly I say to you, Whoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.
本当にはっきりとあなた方に告げる。神の王国を幼子のように受け入れない者は，決してその中に入ることはない」 。
18 And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? (aiōnios g166)
ある支配者が彼に尋ねて言った，「善い先生，永遠の命を受け継ぐためには何をしたらよいでしょうか」。 (aiōnios g166)
19 And Jesus said to him, Why call you me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.
イエスは彼に答えた，「なぜ，わたしのことを善いと呼ぶのか。神おひとりのほかに善い者はいない。
20 You know the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honor your father and your mother.
あなたはおきてを知っている。『姦淫を犯してはいけない』，『殺してはいけない』，『盗んではいけない』，『偽りの証言をしてはいけない』，『だまし取ってはいけない』，『あなたの父と母を敬いなさい』」 。
21 And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.
彼は言った，「わたしはそうした事すべてを幼いころから守ってきました」。
22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said to him, Yet lack you one thing: sell all that you have, and distribute to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
イエスはこれらの事を聞いて，彼に言った，「あなたにはまだ一つのことが足りない。自分の持ち物をみな売って，貧しい人々に配りなさい。あなたは天に宝を持つことになる。来て，わたしに従いなさい」 。
23 And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.
しかし，彼はこれらの事を聞いてひどく悲しんだ。非常に富んでいたからである。
24 And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
彼がひどく悲しむのを見ながら，イエスは言った，「富んだ人たちが神の王国に入るのは，何と難しいことか！
25 For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
富んだ人が神の王国に入るよりは，ラクダが針の穴を通り抜ける方が易しいのだ」 。
26 And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved?
彼らはこれを聞いて言った，「それでは，だれが救いを得られるのですか」。
27 And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.
しかし彼は言った，「人には不可能な事柄でも，神には可能なのだ」 。
28 Then Peter said, See, we have left all, and followed you.
ペトロが言った，「ご覧ください，わたしたちは何もかも後にして，あなたに従いました」。
29 And he said to them, Truly I say to you, There is no man that has left house, or parents, or brothers, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God’s sake,
イエスは言った，「本当にはっきりとあなた方に告げる。神の王国のために，家，妻，兄弟たち，両親，あるいは子供たちを後にする者で，
31 Then he took to him the twelve, and said to them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.
彼は十二人をわきに連れて行き，彼らに言った，「見よ，わたしたちはエルサレムに上って行く。そして，人の子について，預言者たちを通して書かれたことはみな成し遂げられるだろう。
32 For he shall be delivered to the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on:
彼は異邦人たちに引き渡され，あざけられ，ひどい扱いを受け，つばをかけられる。
33 And they shall whip him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.
彼らは彼をむち打ち，殺すだろう。三日目に彼は生き返る」 。
34 And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.
彼らはこれらのことを理解しなかった。この言葉は彼らから隠されており，彼らは語られたことを理解しなかったのである。
35 And it came to pass, that as he was come near to Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging:
彼がエリコに近づいていた時のこと，ある盲人が道ばたに座って物ごいをしていた。
36 And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant.
群衆が通り過ぎるのを耳にして，これは何事かと尋ねた。
37 And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passes by.
人々は，ナザレのイエスが通って行くのだと彼に告げた。
38 And he cried, saying, Jesus, you son of David, have mercy on me.
彼は叫んで言った，「ダビデの子イエスよ，わたしをあわれんでください！」
39 And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, You son of David, have mercy on me.
先を行く者たちが彼をしかりつけ，黙らせようとしたが，彼はますます，「ダビデの子よ，わたしをあわれんでください！」と叫び続けた。
40 And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought to him: and when he was come near, he asked him,
イエスは立ち止まって，彼を連れて来るようにと命じた。彼が近づいて来ると，イエスは彼に尋ねた，
41 Saying, What will you that I shall do to you? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight.
「何をして欲しいのか」 。 彼は言った，「主よ，また見えるようになることです」。
42 And Jesus said to him, Receive your sight: your faith has saved you.
イエスは彼に言った，「見えるようになりなさい。あなたの信仰があなたをいやしたのだ」 。
43 And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.
すぐに彼は見えるようになり，神に栄光をささげながらイエスに従った。それを見て，人々はみな神をたたえた。
