Psalms 8

1 To him that excelleth on Gittith. A Psalme of Dauid. O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy Name in all the worlde! which hast set thy glory aboue the heauens.

Al maestro de coro. Sobre el ghittit (los lagares). Salmo de David. ¡Oh Yahvé, Señor nuestro, cuán admirable es tu Nombre en toda la tierra! Tú, cuya gloria cantan los cielos,

2 Out of the mouth of babes and suckelings hast thou ordeined strength, because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemie and the auenger.

te has preparado la alabanza de la boca de los pequeños y de los lactantes, para confundir a tus enemigos y hacer callar al adversario y al perseguidor.

3 When I beholde thine heauens, euen the workes of thy fingers, the moone and the starres which thou hast ordeined,

Cuando contemplo tus cielos, hechura de tus dedos, la luna y las estrellas que Tú pusiste en su lugar...

4 What is man, say I, that thou art mindefull of him? and the sonne of man, that thou visitest him?

¿Qué es el hombre para que Tú lo recuerdes, o el hijo del hombre para que te ocupes de él?

5 For thou hast made him a little lower then God, and crowned him with glory and worship.

Tú lo creaste poco inferior a Dios, le ornaste de gloria y de honor.

6 Thou hast made him to haue dominion in the workes of thine hands: thou hast put all things vnder his feete:

Le diste poder sobre las obras de tus manos, y todo lo pusiste bajo sus pies:

7 All sheepe and oxen: yea, and the beastes of the fielde:

las ovejas y los bueyes todos, y aun las bestias salvajes,

8 The foules of the ayre, and the fish of the sea, and that which passeth through the paths of the seas.

las aves del cielo y los peces del mar, y cuanto surca las sendas del agua.

9 O Lord our Lord, howe excellent is thy Name in all the world!

Oh Yahvé, Señor nuestro, ¡cuán admirable es tu Nombre en toda la tierra!
