Psalms 21
1 To him that excelleth. A Psalme of Dauid. The King shall reioyce in thy strength, O Lord: yea how greatly shall he reioyce in thy saluation!
Per il Capo de’ musici. Salmo di Davide. O Eterno, il re si rallegra nella tua forza; ed oh quanto esulta per la tua salvezza!
2 Thou hast giuen him his hearts desire, and hast not denyed him the request of his lips. (Selah)
Tu gli hai dato il desiderio del suo cuore e non gli hai rifiutata la richiesta delle sue labbra. (Sela)
3 For thou diddest preuent him with liberall blessings, and didest set a crowne of pure gold vpon his head.
Poiché tu gli sei venuto incontro con benedizioni eccellenti, gli hai posta in capo una corona d’oro finissimo.
4 He asked life of thee, and thou gauest him a long life for euer and euer.
Egli t’avea chiesto vita, e tu gliel’hai data: lunghezza di giorni perpetua ed eterna.
5 His glory is great in thy saluation: dignitie and honour hast thou laid vpon him.
Grande è la sua gloria mercé la tua salvezza. Tu lo rivesti di maestà e di magnificenza;
6 For thou hast set him as blessings for euer: thou hast made him glad with the ioy of thy countenance.
poiché lo ricolmi delle tue benedizioni in perpetuo, lo riempi di gioia nella tua presenza.
7 Because the King trusteth in the Lord, and in the mercie of the most High, he shall not slide.
Perché il re si confida nell’Eterno, e, per la benignità dell’Altissimo, non sarà smosso.
8 Thine hand shall finde out all thine enemies, and thy right hand shall finde out them that hate thee.
La tua mano troverà tutti i tuoi nemici; la tua destra raggiungerà quelli che t’odiano.
9 Thou shalt make them like a fierie ouen in time of thine anger: the Lord shall destroy them in his wrath, and the fire shall deuoure them.
Tu li metterai come in una fornace ardente, quando apparirai; l’Eterno, nel suo cruccio, li inabisserà, e il fuoco li divorerà.
10 Their fruite shalt thou destroy from the earth, and their seede from the children of men.
Tu farai sparire il loro frutto dalla terra e la loro progenie di tra i figli degli uomini;
11 For they intended euill against thee, and imagined mischiefe, but they shall not preuaile.
perché hanno ordito del male contro a te; han formato malvagi disegni, che non potranno attuare;
12 Therefore shalt thou put them aparte, and the strings of thy bowe shalt thou make readie against their faces.
poiché tu farai loro voltar le spalle, col tuo arco mirerai diritto alla loro faccia.
13 Be thou exalted, O Lord, in thy strength: so will we sing and prayse thy power.
Innalzati, o Eterno, con la tua forza; noi canteremo e celebreremo la tua potenza.
