Numbers 8

1 And the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,

L’Éternel parla à Moïse, et dit:

2 Speake vnto Aaron, and say vnto him, When thou lightest the lampes, the seuen lampes shall giue light towarde the forefront of the Candlesticke.

Parle à Aaron, et tu lui diras: Lorsque tu placeras les lampes sur le chandelier, les sept lampes devront éclairer en face.

3 And Aaron did so, lighting the lampes thereof towarde ye forefront of the Candlesticke, as the Lord had commanded Moses.

Aaron fit ainsi; il plaça les lampes sur le devant du chandelier, comme l’Éternel l’avait ordonné à Moïse.

4 And this was the worke of the Candlesticke, euen of golde beaten out with the hammer, both the shafte, and the flowres thereof was beaten out with the hammer: according to the paterne, which the Lord had shewed Moses, so made he the Candlesticke.

Le chandelier était d’or battu; jusqu’à son pied, jusqu’à ses fleurs, il était d’or battu; Moïse avait fait le chandelier d’après le modèle que l’Éternel lui avait montré.

5 And the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,

L’Éternel parla à Moïse, et dit:

6 Take the Leuites from among the children of Israel, and purifie them.

Prends les Lévites du milieu des enfants d’Israël, et purifie-les.

7 And thus shalt thou doe vnto them, when thou purifiest them, Sprinckle water of purification vpon them, and let them shaue all their flesh, and wash their clothes: so they shalbe cleane.

Voici comment tu les purifieras. Fais sur eux une aspersion d’eau expiatoire; qu’ils fassent passer le rasoir sur tout leur corps, qu’ils lavent leurs vêtements, et qu’ils se purifient.

8 Then they shall take a yong bullocke with his meate offring of fine floure, mingled with oyle, and another yong bullocke shalt thou take for a sinne offring.

Ils prendront ensuite un jeune taureau, avec l’offrande ordinaire de fleur de farine pétrie à l’huile; et tu prendras un autre jeune taureau pour le sacrifice d’expiation.

9 Then thou shalt bring the Leuites before the Tabernacle of the Congregation, and asseble all the Congregation of the children of Israel.

Tu feras approcher les Lévites devant la tente d’assignation, et tu convoqueras toute l’assemblée des enfants d’Israël.

10 Thou shalt bring the Leuites also before the Lord, and the children of Israel shall put their handes vpon the Leuites.

Tu feras approcher les Lévites devant l’Éternel; et les enfants d’Israël poseront leurs mains sur les Lévites.

11 And Aaron shall offer the Leuites before the Lord, as a shake offring of ye childre of Israel, that they may execute the seruice of the Lord.

Aaron fera tourner de côté et d’autre les Lévites devant l’Éternel, comme une offrande de la part des enfants d’Israël; et ils seront consacrés au service de l’Éternel.

12 And the Leuites shall put their handes vpon the heades of the bullockes, and make thou the one a sinne offring, and the other a burnt offring vnto the Lord, that thou mayest make an atonement for the Leuites.

Les Lévites poseront leurs mains sur la tête des taureaux; et tu offriras l’un en sacrifice d’expiation, et l’autre en holocauste, afin de faire l’expiation pour les Lévites.

13 And thou shalt set the Leuites before Aaron and before his sonnes, and offer the as a shake offring to the Lord.

Tu feras tenir les Lévites debout devant Aaron et devant ses fils, et tu les feras tourner de côté et d’autre comme une offrande à l’Éternel.

14 Thus thou shalt separate the Leuites from among the children of Israel, and the Leuites shall be mine.

Tu sépareras les Lévites du milieu des enfants d’Israël; et les Lévites m’appartiendront.

15 And afterwarde shall the Leuites goe in, to serue in the Tabernacle of the Congregation, and thou shalt purifie them and offer them, as a shake offering.

Après cela, les Lévites viendront faire le service dans la tente d’assignation. C’est ainsi que tu les purifieras, et que tu les feras tourner de côté et d’autre comme une offrande.

16 For they are freely giuen vnto me from among the children of Israel, for such as open any wombe: for all the first borne of the children of Israel haue I taken them vnto me.

Car ils me sont entièrement donnés du milieu des enfants d’Israël: je les ai pris pour moi à la place des premiers-nés, de tous les premiers-nés des enfants d’Israël.

17 For all the first borne of the children of Israel are mine, both of man and of beast: since the day that I smote euery first borne in the land of Egypt, I sanctified them for my selfe.

Car tout premier-né des enfants d’Israël m’appartient, tant des hommes que des animaux; le jour où j’ai frappé tous les premiers-nés dans le pays d’Égypte, je me les suis consacrés.

18 And I haue taken the Leuites for all the first borne of the children of Israel,

Et j’ai pris les Lévites à la place de tous les premiers-nés des enfants d’Israël.

19 And haue giuen the Leuites as a gift vnto Aaron, and to his sonnes from among the children of Israel, to do the seruice of the children of Israel in the Tabernacle of the Congregation, and to make an atonement for the children of Israel, that there be no plague among the children of Israel, when the children of Israel come neere vnto the Sanctuarie.

J’ai donné les Lévites entièrement à Aaron et à ses fils, du milieu des enfants d’Israël, pour qu’ils fassent le service des enfants d’Israël dans la tente d’assignation, pour qu’ils fassent l’expiation pour les enfants d’Israël, et pour que les enfants d’Israël ne soient frappés d’aucune plaie, en s’approchant du sanctuaire.

20 Then Moses and Aaron and all the Cogregation of the children of Israel did with the Leuites, according vnto all that the Lord had commanded Moses concerning the Leuites: so did the children of Israel vnto them.

Moïse, Aaron et toute l’assemblée des enfants d’Israël, firent à l’égard des Lévites tout ce que l’Éternel avait ordonné à Moïse touchant les Lévites; ainsi firent à leur égard les enfants d’Israël.

21 So the Leuites were purified, and washed their clothes, and Aaron offred them as a shake offring before the Lord, and Aaron made an atonement for them, to purifie them.

Les Lévites se purifièrent, et lavèrent leurs vêtements; Aaron les fit tourner de côté et d’autre comme une offrande devant l’Éternel, et il fit l’expiation pour eux, afin de les purifier.

22 And after that, went the Leuites in to doe their seruice in the Tabernacle of the Congregation, before Aaron and before his sonnes: as the Lord had commanded Moses concerning the Leuites, so they did vnto them.

Après cela, les Lévites vinrent faire leur service dans la tente d’assignation, en présence d’Aaron et de ses fils, selon ce que l’Éternel avait ordonné à Moïse touchant les Lévites; ainsi fut-il fait à leur égard.

23 And the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,

L’Éternel parla à Moïse, et dit:

24 This also belongeth to the Leuites: from fiue and twentie yeere olde and vpwarde, they shall goe in, to execute their office in the seruice of the Tabernacle of the Congregation.

Voici ce qui concerne les Lévites. Depuis l’âge de vingt-cinq ans et au-dessus, tout Lévite entrera au service de la tente d’assignation pour y exercer une fonction.

25 And after the age of fiftie yeere, they shall cease from executing the office, and shall serue no more:

Depuis l’âge de cinquante ans, il sortira de fonction, et ne servira plus.

26 But they shall minister with their brethre in the Tabernacle of the Congregation, to keepe things committed to their charge, but they shall doe no seruice: thus shalt thou doe vnto the Leuites touching their charges.

Il aidera ses frères dans la tente d’assignation, pour garder ce qui est remis à leurs soins; mais il ne fera plus de service. Tu agiras ainsi à l’égard des Lévites pour ce qui concerne leurs fonctions.
