Job 32

1 So these three men ceased to answere Iob, because he esteemed himselfe iust.

Ces trois hommes cessèrent de répondre à Job, parce qu’il se regardait comme juste.

2 Then the wrath of Elihu the sonne of Barachel the Buzite, of the familie of Ram, was kindled: his wrath, I say, was kindled against Iob, because he iustified himselfe more then God.

Alors s’enflamma de colère Élihu, fils de Barakeel de Buz, de la famille de Ram. Sa colère s’enflamma contre Job, parce qu’il se disait juste devant Dieu.

3 Also his anger was kindled against his three friends, because they could not finde an answere, and yet condemned Iob.

Et sa colère s’enflamma contre ses trois amis, parce qu’ils ne trouvaient rien à répondre et que néanmoins ils condamnaient Job.

4 (Now Elihu had wayted til Iob had spoken: for they were more ancient in yeeres then he)

Comme ils étaient plus âgés que lui, Élihu avait attendu jusqu’à ce moment pour parler à Job.

5 So when Elihu saw, that there was none answere in the mouth of the three men, his wrath was kindled.

Mais, voyant qu’il n’y avait plus de réponse dans la bouche de ces trois hommes, Élihu s’enflamma de colère.

6 Therefore Elihu the sonne of Barachel, the Buzite answered, and sayd, I am yong in yeres, and ye are ancient: therefore I doubted, and was afraide to shewe you mine opinion.

Et Élihu, fils de Barakeel de Buz, prit la parole et dit: Je suis jeune, et vous êtes des vieillards; C’est pourquoi j’ai craint, j’ai redouté De vous faire connaître mon sentiment.

7 For I said, The dayes shall speake, and the multitude of yeeres shall teach wisedome.

Je disais en moi-même: Les jours parleront, Le grand nombre des années enseignera la sagesse.

8 Surely there is a spirite in man, but the inspiration of the Almightie giueth vnderstanding.

Mais en réalité, dans l’homme, c’est l’esprit, Le souffle du Tout-Puissant, qui donne l’intelligence;

9 Great men are not alway wise, neither doe the aged alway vnderstand iudgement.

Ce n’est pas l’âge qui procure la sagesse, Ce n’est pas la vieillesse qui rend capable de juger.

10 Therefore I say, Heare me, and I will shew also mine opinion.

Voilà pourquoi je dis: Écoute! Moi aussi, j’exposerai ma pensée.

11 Behold, I did waite vpon your wordes, and hearkened vnto your knowledge, whiles you sought out reasons.

J’ai attendu la fin de vos discours, J’ai suivi vos raisonnements, Votre examen des paroles de Job.

12 Yea, when I had considered you, lo, there was none of you that reproued Iob, nor answered his wordes:

Je vous ai donné toute mon attention; Et voici, aucun de vous ne l’a convaincu, Aucun n’a réfuté ses paroles.

13 Lest ye should say, We haue found wisedome: for God hath cast him downe, and no man.

Ne dites pas cependant: En lui nous avons trouvé la sagesse; C’est Dieu qui peut le confondre, ce n’est pas un homme!

14 Yet hath he not directed his words to me, neyther will I answere him by your wordes.

Il ne s’est pas adressé directement à moi: Aussi lui répondrai-je tout autrement que vous.

15 Then they fearing, answered no more, but left off their talke.

Ils ont peur, ils ne répondent plus! Ils ont la parole coupée!

16 When I had wayted (for they spake not, but stood still and answered no more)

J’ai attendu qu’ils eussent fini leurs discours, Qu’ils s’arrêtassent et ne sussent que répliquer.

17 Then answered I in my turne, and I shewed mine opinion.

A mon tour, je veux répondre aussi, Je veux dire aussi ce que je pense.

18 For I am full of matter, and the spirite within me compelleth me.

Car je suis plein de paroles, L’esprit me presse au-dedans de moi;

19 Beholde, my belly is as the wine, which hath no vent, and like the new bottels that brast.

Mon intérieur est comme un vin qui n’a pas d’issue, Comme des outres neuves qui vont éclater.

20 Therefore will I speake, that I may take breath: I will open my lippes, and will answere.

Je parlerai pour respirer à l’aise, J’ouvrirai mes lèvres et je répondrai.

21 I will not now accept the person of man, neyther will I giue titles to man.

Je n’aurai point égard à l’apparence, Et je ne flatterai personne;

22 For I may not giue titles, lest my Maker should take me away suddenly.

Car je ne sais pas flatter: Mon créateur m’enlèverait bien vite.
