2 Chronicles 34

1 Iosiah was eight yeere olde when hee began to reigne, and he reigned in Ierusalem one and thirtie yeere.

Josias war acht Jahre alt, als er König wurde, und regierte einunddreißig Jahre in Jerusalem.

2 And he did vprightly in the sight of ye Lord, and walked in the wayes of Dauid his father, and bowed neither to the right hand nor to the left.

Er tat, was dem Herrn gefiel. Er wandelte auf seines Ahnen David Pfaden und wich nicht davon, weder rechts noch links.

3 And in the eight yeere of his reigne (when he was yet a childe) he began to seeke after the God of Dauid his father: and in the twelft yeere he began to purge Iudah, and Ierusalem from the hie places, and the groues, and the carued images, and molten images:

Im achten Regierungsjahr, als er noch jung war, fing er an, den Gott seines Ahnen David zu suchen, und im zwölften Jahr begann er, Juda und Jerusalem von den Höhen, den Ascheren, den Schnitz- und Gußbildern zu reinigen.

4 And they brake downe in his sight the altars of Baalim, and hee caused to cut downe the images that were on hie vpon them: he brake also the groues, and the carued images, and the molten images, and stampt them to pouder, and strowed it vpon the graues of them that had sacrificed vnto them.

Vor ihm riß man die Altäre der Baale ein. Er selber fällte die Rauchaltäre oben darauf, zerstörte und vernichtete die Ascheren, sowie die Schnitz- und Gußbilder, dann streute er auf die Gräber die, denen man geopfert hatte.

5 Also he burnt the bones of the Priests vpon their altars, and purged Iudah and Ierusalem.

Auch die Gebeine der Propheten verbrannte er auf ihren Altären. So säuberte er Juda und Jerusalem.

6 And in the cities of Manasseh, and Ephraim, and Simeon, euen vnto Naphtali, with their maules they brake all round about.

In den Städten Manasses, Ephraims, Simeons und Naphtalis, in ihren Trümmern ringsum,

7 And when he had destroyed the altars and the groues, and had broken and stamped to pouder the images, and had cut downe all the idoles throughout all the land of Israel, hee returned to Ierusalem.

riß er auch die Altäre um, zerschlug und zermalmte die Ascheren und die Schnitzbilder und stürzte alle Rauchaltäre im ganzen Lande Israel um. Darauf kehrte er nach Jerusalem zurück.

8 Then in the eightenth yere of his reigne, when hee had purged the lande and the Temple, he sent Shaphan the sonne of Azaliah, and Maaseiah the gouernour of the citie, and Ioah the sonne of Ioahaz the recorder, to repaire the house of the Lord his God.

Im achtzehnten Regierungsjahr, während der Reinigung von Land und Haus, sandte Saphan, Asaljahus Sohn, den Stadthauptmann Maasejahu und den Kanzler Joach, des Joachaz Sohn, das Haus des Herrn, seines Gottes, auszubessern.

9 And when they came to Hilkiah the hie Priest, they deliuered ye money that was brought into the house of God, which the Leuites that kept the doore, had gathered at the hand of Manasseh, and Ephraim, and of all the residue of Israel, and of all Iudah and Beniamin, and of the inhabitantes of Ierusalem.

Sie kamen zu dem Hohenpriester Chilkijahu und übergaben das Geld, das ins Gotteshaus gebracht worden war. Die levitischen Schwellenhüter von Manasse und Ephraim sowie vom ganzen übrigen Israel hatten es aus ganz Juda und Benjamin und von Jerusalems Einwohnern eingesammelt.

10 And they put it in the hands of them that should doe the worke and had the ouersight in the house of the Lord: and they gaue it to the workemen that wrought in the house of ye Lord, to repaire and amend the house.

Sie gaben es den Werkmeistern, die zur Aufsicht am Haus des Herrn bestellt waren, und diese gaben es für die Arbeiter aus, die am Hause des Herrn arbeiteten, um das Haus auszubessern und zu festigen.

11 Euen to the workemen and to the builders gaue they it, to bye hewed stone and timber for couples and for beames of the houses, which the Kings of Iudah had destroyed.

Sie gaben es auch für die Zimmerleute und Bauleute aus, um Bausteine zu kaufen und Holz für die Verklammerung und Gebälke für die Gebäude, die Judas Könige hatten verfallen lassen.

12 And the men did the worke faithfully, and the ouerseers of them were Iahath and Obadiah the Leuites, of the children of Merari, and Zechariah, and Meshullam, of the children of the Kohathites to set it forward: and of the Leuites all that could skill of instruments of musike.

Die Leute arbeiteten gewissenhaft an dem Werk. Zur Aufsicht über sie waren bestellt die Leviten Jochat und Obadjahu von den Merarisöhnen, sowie Zakarjahu und Mesullam von den Kehatssöhnen, um Anweisung zu geben. Leviten, von denen jeder der Musikgeräte kundig war,

13 And they were ouer the bearers of burdens, and them that set forwarde all the workemen in euery worke: and of the Leuites were scribes, and officers and porters.

standen den Lastträgern vor. Überhaupt gab es Aufseher für alle irgendwie Beschäftigten. Etliche der Leviten waren Schreiber, Amtleute und Torhüter.

14 And when they brought out the money that was brought into the house of the Lord, Hilkiah the Priest found the booke of the Lawe of the Lord giuen by the hand of Moses.

Als sie das Geld herausnahmen, das in das Haus des Herrn gebracht worden war, fand der Priester Chilkijahu das Buch der Lehre des Herrn an Moses.

15 Therefore Hilkiah answered and sayde to Shaphan the chaceler, I haue found the booke of the Law in the house of the Lord: and Hilkiah gaue the booke to Shaphan.

Da hob Chilkijahu an und sprach zum Schreiber Saphan: "Ich habe im Hause des Herrn das Buch der Lehre gefunden." Chilkijahu gab das Buch dem Saphan.

16 And Shaphan caried the booke to the King, and brought the King worde againe, saying, All that is committed to the hand of thy seruants, that do they.

Und Saphan brachte das Buch zum König und erstattete dem König weiteren Bericht. Er sprach: "Alles, was deinen Knechten aufgetragen ward, haben sie getan."

17 For they haue gathered the money that was found in the house of the Lord, and haue deliuered it into the handes of the ouerseers, and to the handes of the workemen.

Sie schütteten das Geld aus, das sich im Hause des Herrn vorgefunden, und gaben es den Aufsehern und Arbeitern.

18 Also Shaphan ye chanceler declared to the King, saying, Hilkiah the Priest hath giuen mee a booke, and Shaphan read it before the King.

Dann berichtete der Schreiber Saphan dem König: "Der Priester Chilkijahu hat mir ein Buch gegeben. Und Saphan las daraus dem König vor."

19 And when the King had heard the wordes of the Lawe, he tare his clothes.

Wie der König die Worte der Lehre vernahm, zerriß er seine Kleider.

20 And the King commanded Hilkiah, and Ahikam the sonne of Shaphan, and Abdon the sonne of Micah, and Shaphan the chanceler, and Asaiah the Kings seruant, saying,

Dann gebot der König dem Chilkijahu und dem Achikam, Saphans Sohn, dem Abdon, Mikas Sohn, dem Schreiber Saphan und dem königlichen Leibdiener Asaja:

21 Goe and enquire of the Lord for me, and for the rest in Israel and Iudah, concerning the wordes of this booke that is founde: for great is the wrath of the Lord that is fallen vpon vs, because our fathers haue not kept the worde of the Lord, to doe after all that is written in this booke.

"Geht! Befragt den Herrn für mich und für die in Israel und Juda Übriggebliebenen wegen des Inhalts des Buches, das gefunden worden ist! Denn groß ist des Herrn Grimm, der sich über uns ergießt, weil unsere Väter das Wort des Herrn nicht befolgten und nichts davon taten, was in diesem Buch geschrieben steht."

22 Then Hilkiah and they that the King had appoynted, went to Huldah the Prophetesse ye wife of Shallum, the sonne of Tokhath, the sonne of Hasrah keeper of the wardrobe (and she dwelt in Ierusalem within the colledge) and they communed hereof with her.

Da ging Chilkijahu mit des Königs Leuten zu der Prophetin Chulda, dem Weibe Sallums, des Sohnes Tokhats und Enkels Chasras, des Kleiderhüters. Sie aber wohnte in Jerusalem im neuen Stadtviertel. Sie redeten solches mit ihr.

23 And shee answered them, Thus sayth the Lord God of Israel, Tell yee the man that sent you to me,

Da sagte sie zu ihnen: "So spricht der Herr, Israels Gott: 'Sagt nur dem Mann, der euch zu mir gesandt:

24 Thus saith the Lord, Beholde, I will bring euill vpon this place, and vpon the inhabitantes thereof, euen all the curses, that are written in the booke which they haue read before the King of Iudah:

So spricht der Herr: Fürwahr, ich bringe Unglück über diesen Ort und seine Bewohner, all diese Flüche, die geschrieben sind im Buch, das man dem Könige von Juda vorgelesen.

25 Because they haue forsaken me, and burnt incense vnto other gods, to anger mee with al the workes of their hands, therefore shall my wrath fall vpon this place, and shall not be quenched.

Dafür, daß sie mich schnöd verlassen haben, so daß sie anderen Göttern räucherten und mich mit allem Machwerk ihrer Hände kränkten, ergießt sich mein Grimm über diesen Ort und soll nicht mehr erlöschen.'

26 But to the King of Iudah, who sent you to enquire of the Lord, so shall ye say vnto him, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The words which thou hast heard, shall come to passe.

Zum Judakönig, der euch hergesandt, den Herrn zu befragen, sollt ihr so sprechen: 'Der Herr, Gott Israels, hat diese Worte ausgesprochen, die du gehört hast.

27 But because thine heart did melt, and thou didest humble thy selfe before God, when thou heardest his wordes against this place and against the inhabitantes thereof, and humbledst thy selfe before mee and tarest thy clothes, and weptest before mee, I haue also heard it, sayth the Lord.

Doch weil dein Herz so weich und weil du dich vor Gott demütigtest, als du seine Worte gegen diesen Ort und seine Bewohner vernahmst, ja, weil du dich vor mir demütigtest und dein Gewand zerrissest und vor mir weintest, so schenke ich Gehör.' Ein Spruch des Herrn.

28 Beholde, I will gather thee to thy fathers, and thou shalt bee put in thy graue in peace, and thine eyes shall not see all the euill, which I will bring vpon this place, and vpon the inhabitants of the same. Thus they brought ye King word againe.

'Fürwahr, ich sammle dich zu deinen Vätern; im Frieden wirst du in dein Grab gebracht. Und deine Augen müssen nicht ansehen all das Unheil, das ich verhänge über diesen Ort und seine Bewohner.'" Also berichteten sie dem König.

29 Then the King sent and gathered all the Elders of Iudah and Ierusalem.

Hierauf sandte der König hin und versammelte alle Ältesten Judas und Jerusalems.

30 And the King went vp into the house of the Lord, and all the men of Iudah, and the inhabitants of Ierusalem, and the Priests and the Leuites, and all the people from the greatest to the smallest, and hee read in their eares all the wordes of the booke of the couenant that was found in the house of the Lord.

Dann ging der König zum Hause des Herrn hinauf, ebenso alle Männer Judas und Jerusalems Einwohner, die Priester und die Leviten, sowie das ganze Volk, vom Ältesten bis zum Jüngsten, und er las ihnen alle Worte des Bundesbuches vor, das im Haus des Herrn gefunden worden war.

31 And the King stood by his pillar, and made a couenant before the Lord, to walke after the Lord, and to keepe his commandements, and his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart, and with all his soule, and that he would accomplish the wordes of the couenant written in the same booke.

Dann trat der König an seinen Standort und schloß vor dem Herrn den Bund, dem Herrn nachzufolgen und seine Gebote, Gebräuche und Satzungen von ganzem Herzen und aus ganzer Seele zu halten und die Bundesworte zu befolgen, die in diesem Buch geschrieben stehen.

32 And he caused all that were found in Ierusalem, and Beniamin to stande to it: and the inhabitants of Ierusalem did according to the couenant of God, euen the God of their fathers.

Und er bestärkte darin alle, die sich in Jerusalem und Benjamin vorfanden. Und so taten die Bewohner Jerusalems nach dem Bunde Gottes, des Gottes ihrer Väter.

33 So Iosiah tooke away al the abominations out of all the countreis that perteined to the children of Israel, and compelled all that were found in Israel, to serue the Lord their God: so all his dayes they turned not backe from the Lord God of their fathers.

Und Josias beseitigte alle Greuel aus allen Gebieten der Israeliten und verpflichtete alle in Israel zum Dienste des Herrn, ihres Gottes. Solange er lebte, fielen sie nicht von dem Herrn, ihrer Väter Gott, ab.
