2 Chronicles 13
1 In the eyghteenth yeere of King Ieroboam began Abiiah to reigne ouer Iudah.
La dix-huitième année du Roi Jéroboam Abija commença à régner sur Juda.
2 He reigned three yere in Ierusalem: (his mothers name also was Michaiah the daughter of Vriel of Gibea) and there was warre betweene Abiiah and Ieroboam.
Et il régna trois ans à Jérusalem. Sa mère avait nom Micaja, et elle était fille d'Uriël de Guibba. Or il y eut guerre entre Abija et Jéroboam.
3 And Abiiah set the battel in aray with the armie of valiant men of warre, euen foure hundreth thousand chosen men. Ieroboam also set the battell in aray against him with eight hundreth thousande chosen men which were strong and valiant.
Et Abija commença la bataille avec une armée composée de gens vaillants pour la guerre; ils étaient quatre cent mille hommes d'élite. Or Jéroboam avait rangé contre lui la bataille avec huit cent mille hommes d'élite, forts et vaillants.
4 And Abiiah stood vp vpon mount Zemeraim, which is in mount Ephraim, and sayde, O Ieroboam, and all Israel, heare you me,
Et Abija se tint debout sur la montagne de Tsémarajim, qui est dans les montagnes d'Ephraïm, et dit: Jéroboam et tout Israël écoutez-moi.
5 Ought you not to know that the Lord God of Israel hath giuen the kingdome ouer Israel to Dauid for euer, euen to him and to his sonnes by a couenant of salt?
N'est-ce pas à vous de savoir que l'Eternel le Dieu d'Israël a donné le Royaume à David sur Israël pour toujours, à lui, [dis-je], et à ses fils, par une alliance inviolable?
6 And Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat the seruant of Salomon the sonne of Dauid is risen vp, and hath rebelled against his lord:
Mais Jéroboam fils de Nébat, serviteur de Salomon fils de David, s'est élevé, et s'est rebellé contre son Seigneur.
7 And there are gathered to him vayne men and wicked, and made themselues strong against Rehoboam the sonne of Salomon: for Rehoboam was but a childe and tender hearted, and coulde not resist them.
Et des hommes de néant, imitateurs [de la malice] du Démon se sont assemblés vers lui, ils se sont fortifiés contre Roboam, fils de Salomon, parce que Roboam était un enfant, [et] de peu de courage, et qu'il ne tint pas ferme devant eux.
8 Now therefore ye thinke that yee be able to resist against the kingdome of the Lord, which is in the handes of the sonnes of Dauid, and ye bee a great multitude, and the golden calues are with you which Ieroboam made you for gods.
Et maintenant vous présumez de tenir ferme contre le Royaume de l'Eternel qui est entre les mains des fils de David, parce que vous êtes une grande multitude de peuple, et que les veaux d'or, que Jéroboam vous a faits pour être vos dieux, sont avec vous.
9 Haue ye not driuen away the Priestes of the Lord the sonnes of Aaron and the Leuites, and haue made you Priests like the people of other countreis? whosoeuer commeth to consecrate with a yong bullocke and seuen rams, the same may be a Priest of them that are no gods.
N'avez-vous pas rejeté les Sacrificateurs de l'Eternel, les fils d'Aaron et les Lévites? et ne vous êtes-vous pas fait des sacrificateurs à la façon des peuples des [autres] pays? Tous ceux qui sont venus avec un jeune veau, et avec sept béliers pour être consacrés, et pour être sacrificateurs de ce qui n'est pas Dieu?
10 But wee belong vnto the Lord our God, and haue not forsaken him, and the Priestes the sonnes of Aaron minister vnto the Lord, and the Leuites in their office.
Mais quant à nous, l'Eternel est notre Dieu, et nous ne l'avons point abandonné; et les Sacrificateurs qui font le service à l'Eternel, sont enfants d'Aaron, et les Lévites [sont employés] à leurs fonctions.
11 And they burne vnto the Lord euery morning and euery euening burnt offerings and sweete incense, and the breade is set in order vpon the pure table, and the candlesticke of golde with the lampes thereof, to burne euery euening: for we keepe the watch of the Lord our God: but ye haue forsaken him.
Et on fait fumer les holocaustes chaque matin et chaque soir à l'Eternel, et le parfum des choses aromatiques. Les pains de proposition sont arrangés sur la table pure, et on allume le chandelier d'or avec ses lampes, chaque soir; car nous gardons ce que l'Eternel notre Dieu veut qui soit gardé; mais vous l'avez abandonné.
12 And behold, this God is with vs, as a captaine, and his Priests with the sounding trumpets, to crie an alarme against you. O yee children of Israel, fight not against the Lord God of your fathers: for ye shall not prosper.
C'est pourquoi, voici, Dieu est avec nous pour être notre Chef, et ses Sacrificateurs, et les trompettes de retentissement bruyant pour les faire sonner contre vous. Enfants d'Israël, ne combattez point contre l'Eternel le Dieu de vos pères; car cela ne vous réussira point.
13 But Ieroboam caused an ambushment to compasse, and come behind them, when they were before Iudah, and the ambushment behinde them.
Mais Jéroboam fit prendre un détour à une embuscade, afin qu'elle se jetât sur eux par derrière; de sorte que les [Israélites] se présentèrent en front à Juda, et l'embuscade était par derrière.
14 Then Iudah looked, and beholde, the battel was before and behinde them, and they cried vnto the Lord, and the Priests blewe with the trumpets,
Et ceux de Juda regardèrent, et voici, ils avaient la bataille en front et par derrière, et ils s'écrièrent à l'Eternel, et les Sacrificateurs sonnaient des trompettes.
15 And the men of Iudah gaue a shoute: and euen as the men of Iudah shouted, God smote Ieroboam and also Israel before Abiiah and Iudah.
Chacun de Juda jetait aussi des cris de joie, et il arriva, comme ils jetaient des cris de joie, que Dieu frappa Jéroboam et tout Israël, devant Abija et Juda.
16 And the children of Israel fledde before Iudah, and God deliuered them into their hande.
Et les enfants d'Israël s'enfuirent de devant Juda, parce que Dieu les avait livrés entre leurs mains.
17 And Abiiah and his people slewe a great slaughter of them, so that there fel downe wounded of Israel fiue hundreth thousand chosen men.
Abija donc et son peuple en firent un fort grand carnage, de sorte qu'il tomba d'Israël cinq cent mille hommes d'élite, blessés à mort.
18 So the children of Israel were brought vnder at that time: and the children of Iudah preuailed, because they stayed vpon the Lord God of their fathers.
Ainsi les enfants d'Israël furent humiliés en ce temps-là, et les enfants de Juda furent renforcés, parce qu'ils s'étaient appuyés sur l'Eternel le Dieu de leurs pères.
19 And Abiiah pursued after Ieroboam, and tooke cities from him, euen Beth-el, and the villages thereof, and Ieshanah with her villages, and Ephron with her villages.
Et Abija poursuivit Jéroboam, et prit sur lui ces villes; Béthel, et les villes de son ressort; Jésana, et les villes de son ressort; Héphrajim, et les villes de son ressort.
20 And Ieroboam recouered no strength againe in the dayes of Abiiah, but the Lord plagued him, and he dyed.
Et Jéroboam n'eut plus de force durant le temps d'Abija; mais l'Eternel le frappa, et il mourut.
21 So Abiiah waxed mightie, and marryed foureteene wiues, and begate two and twentie sonnes, and sixteene daughters.
Ainsi Abija se fortifia, et prit quatorze femmes, et il en eut vingt et deux fils, et seize filles.
22 The rest of the actes of Abiiah and his maners and his sayings are written in the storie of the Prophet Iddo.
Le reste des faits d'Abija, ses actions, et ses paroles sont écrites dans les Mémoires de Hiddo le Prophète.
