1 Chronicles 28

1 Nowe Dauid assembled all the princes of Israel: the princes of the tribes, and the captaines of the bandes that serued the King, and the captaines of thousands and the captaines of hundreths, and the rulers of all the substance and possession of the King, and of his sonnes, with the eunuches, and the mightie, and all the men of power, vnto Ierusalem.

David convoqua donc tous les princes d’Israël, les chefs des tribus et les préposés de ses troupes, lesquels servaient le roi; comme aussi les tribuns et les centurions, et ceux qui étaient à la tête des biens et des possessions du roi, ses enfants avec les eunuques, les puissants; de même que les plus vigoureux dans l’armée, et les réunit à Jérusalem.

2 And King Dauid stoode vp vpon his feete; and saide, Heare ye me, my brethren and my people: I purposed to haue buylt an house of rest for the Arke of the couenant of the Lord, and for a footestoole of our God, and haue made ready for the building,

Alors le roi, s’étant levé et se tenant debout, dit: Ecoutez-moi, mes frères et mon peuple: j’ai pensé à bâtir une maison dans laquelle reposerait l’arche de l’alliance du Seigneur, l’escabeau des pieds de notre Dieu, et, pour la bâtir, j’ai tout préparé.

3 But God sayde vnto me, Thou shalt not buylde an house for my Name, because thou hast bene a man of warre, and hast shed blood.

Mais Dieu m’a dit: Tu ne bâtiras point une maison à mon nom, parce que tu es un homme de guerre, et que tu as versé le sang.

4 Yet as the Lord God of Israel chose me before all the house of my father, to be King ouer Israel for euer (for in Iudah woulde he chuse a prince, and of the house of Iudah is the house of my father, and among the sonnes of my father he delited in me to make me King ouer all Israel)

Cependant le Seigneur Dieu d’Israël m’a choisi dans toute la maison de mon père pour que je fusse roi sur Israël à jamais; car c’est dans Juda qu’il a choisi des princes: en outre c’est dans la maison de Juda qu’il a choisi la maison de mon père, et entre les fils de mon père, il lui a plu de me choisir pour roi sur tout Israël.

5 So of all my sonnes (for the Lord hath giuen me many sonnes) he hath euen chosen Salomon my sonne to sit vpon the throne of the kingdome of the Lord ouer Israel.

Mais c’est aussi parmi mes fils (car le Seigneur m’a donné beaucoup de fils) qu’il a choisi Salomon, mon fils, pour qu’il s’assît sur le trône du règne du Seigneur sur Israël;

6 And he sayd vnto me, Salomon thy sonne, he shall build mine house and my courtes: for I haue chosen him to be my sonne, and I will be his father.

Et il m’a dit: Salomon, ton fils, bâtira ma maison et mes parvis; car c’est lui que j’ai choisi pour mon fils, et c’est moi qui serai son père.

7 I will stablish therefore his kingdome for euer, if he endeuour himselfe to do my commandements, and my iudgements, as this day.

Et j’affermirai son règne à jamais, s’il persévère à accomplir mes préceptes et mes ordonnances comme aujourd’hui même.

8 Now therefore in the sight of all Israel the Congregation of the Lord, and in the audience of our God, keepe and seeke for all the commandements of the Lord your God, that ye may possesse this good lande, and leaue it for an inheritance for your children after you for euer.

Maintenant donc, devant toute l’assemblée d’Israël, et notre Dieu l’entendant, gardez et recherchez tous les commandements du Seigneur notre Dieu, afin que vous possédiez la terre qui est remplie de biens, et que vous la laissiez à vos fils après vous pour jamais.

9 And thou, Salomon my sonne, know thou the God of thy father, and serue him with a perfit heart, and with a willing minde: For the Lord searcheth all hearts, and vnderstandeth all the imaginations of thoughts: if thou seeke him, he will be found of thee, but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for euer.

Et toi, Salomon, mon fils, connais le Dieu de ton père, et sers-le, avec un cœur parfait et un esprit qui agit volontairement; car le Seigneur scrute tous les cœurs et pénètre toutes les pensées des esprits. Si tu le cherches, tu le trouveras; mais si tu l’abandonnes, il te rejettera pour jamais.

10 Take heede now, for the Lord hath chosen thee to buylde the house of the Sanctuarie: be strong therefore, and doe it.

Maintenant donc que le Seigneur t’a choisi pour bâtir la maison du sanctuaire, sois fort, et agis.

11 Then Dauid gaue to Salomon his sonne the paterne of the porch and of the houses thereof, and of the closets thereof, and of the galleries thereof, and of the chambers thereof that are within, and of the house of the mercieseate,

Or David donna à Salomon, son fils, le plan du portique du temple, des celliers, du cénacle, des chambres secrètes, de la maison de propitiation;

12 And the paterne of all that he had in his minde for the courtes of the house of the Lord, and for all the chambers round about, for the treasures of the house of God, and for the treasures of the dedicate things,

Comme aussi de tous les parvis qu’il avait en vue, des chambres tout autour, pour les trésors de la maison du Seigneur, et pour les trésors des choses saintes;

13 And for the courses of the Priestes, and of the Leuites, and for all the woorke for the seruice of the house of the Lord, and for all the vessels of the ministerie of the house of the Lord.

De la distribution des prêtres et des Lévites pour tous les ouvrages de la maison du Seigneur, et pour le soin de tous les vases consacrés au service du temple du Seigneur.

14 He gaue of golde by weight, for the vessels of gold, for all the vessels of all maner of seruice, and all the vessels of siluer by weight, for all maner vessels of all maner of seruice.

Il lui donna l’or, selon le poids voulu, pour chaque vase de service; de plus, le poids de l’argent, selon la diversité des vases et des ouvrages en argent,

15 The weight also of golde for the candlestickes, and gold for their lampes, with the weight for euery candlesticke, and for the lampes thereof, and for the candlestickes of siluer by the weight of the candlesticke, and the lampes thereof, according to the vse of euery candlesticke,

Et encore l’or pour les chandeliers d’or et pour leurs lampes, selon la mesure de chaque chandelier et des lampes. De même aussi pour les chandeliers d’argent et pour leurs lampes, il remit le poids de l’argent, selon la diversité de leur mesure.

16 And the weight of the gold for the tables of shewbread, for euery table, and siluer for the tables of siluer,

Il donna encore l’or pour les tables de proposition, selon la diversité des tables, et également de l’argent, pour les autres tables d’argent.

17 And pure golde for the fleshhookes, and the bowles, and plates, and for basens, golde in weight for euery basen, and for siluer basens, by weight for euery basen,

De plus, pour les fourchettes, les fioles, les encensoirs d’un or très pur, et pour les petits lions, il distribua le poids pour chaque petit lion, selon la grandeur de leur mesure. De même aussi pour les lions d’argent, il mit à part un poids d’argent différent.

18 And for the altar of incense, pure golde by weight, and golde for the paterne of the charet of the Cherubs that spread themselues, and couered the Arke of the couenant of the Lord:

Mais pour l’autel sur lequel se brûle le parfum, il donna de l’or très pur, pour qu’on en fît une représentation du quadrige et des chérubins, étendant leurs ailes et couvrant l’arche de l’alliance du Seigneur.

19 All, said he, by writing sent to me by the hand of the Lord, which made me vnderstand all the workemanship of the paterne.

Toutes ces choses, dit David, me sont venues écrites de la main du Seigneur, afin que je comprisse tous les ouvrages de ce modèle.

20 And Dauid said to Salomon his sonne, Be strong, and of a valiant courage and doe it: feare not, nor be afraide: for the Lord God, euen my God is with thee: he will not leaue thee nor forsake thee till thou hast finished all the worke for the seruice of the house of the Lord.

David dit encore à Salomon, son fils: Agis courageusement, fortifie-toi, et fais; ne crains point et ne t’épouvante pas; car le Seigneur mon Dieu sera avec toi: il ne te laissera et ne t’abandonnera point que tu n’aies achevé tous les ouvrages pour le service de la maison du Seigneur.

21 Beholde also, the companies of the Priests and the Leuites for all the seruice of the house of God, euen they shall be with thee for the whole worke, with euery free heart that is skilfull in any maner of seruice. The princes also and all the people will be wholy at thy commandement.

Voilà la division des prêtres et des Lévites, lesquels sont auprès de toi pour tous les services de la maison du Seigneur; ils sont prêts, et ils savent accomplir tes ordres, les princes aussi bien que le peuple.
