Psalms 63

1 A psalm of David when he was in the desert of Edom. O God, my God, to thee do I watch at break of day. For thee my soul hath thirsted; for thee my flesh, O how many ways!

Psaume de David. Lorsqu'il était dans le désert de Juda. O Dieu, tu es mon Dieu, je te cherche dès l'aurore; mon âme a soif de toi, ma chair languit après toi, dans une terre aride, desséchée et sans eau.

2 In a desert land, and where there is no way, and no water: so in the sanctuary have I come before thee, to see thy power and thy glory.

C'est ainsi que je te contemplais dans le sanctuaire, pour voir ta puissance et ta gloire.

3 For thy mercy is better than lives: thee my lips shall praise.

Car ta grâce est meilleure que la vie: que mes lèvres célèbrent tes louanges!

4 Thus will I bless thee all my life long: and in thy name I will lift up my hands.

Ainsi te bénirai-je toute ma vie, en ton nom j'élèverai mes mains.

5 Let my soul be filled as with marrow and fatness: and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips.

Mon âme est rassasiée, comme de moelle et de graisse, et, la joie sur les lèvres, ma bouche te loue.

6 If I have remembered thee upon my bed, I will meditate on thee in the morning:

Quand je pense à toi sur ma couche, je médite sur toi pendant les veilles de la nuit.

7 Because thou hast been my helper. And I will rejoice under the covert of thy wings:

Car tu es mon secours, et je suis dans l'allégresse à l'ombre de tes ailes.

8 My soul hath stuck close to thee: thy right hand hath received me.

Mon âme est attachée à toi, ta droite me soutient.

9 But they have sought my soul in vain, they shall go into the lower parts of the earth:

Mais eux, cherchent à m'ôter la vie: ils iront dans les profondeurs de la terre.

10 They shall be delivered into the hands of the sword, they shall be the portions of foxes.

On les livrera au glaive, ils seront la proie des chacals.

11 But the king shall rejoice in God, all they shall be praised that swear by him: because the mouth is stopped of them that speak wicked things.

Et le roi se réjouira en Dieu; quiconque jure par lui se glorifiera, car la bouche des menteurs sera fermée.
