Isaiah 20

1 In the year that Tharthan entered into Azotus, when Sargon the king of the Assyrians had sent him, and he had fought against Azotus, and had taken it:

L'année où Thartan vint à Azoth, envoyé par Sargon, roi d'Assyrie, assiégea Azoth et la prit,

2 At that same time the Lord spoke by the hand of Isaias the son of Amos, saying: Go, and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and take off thy shoes from thy feet. And he did so, and went naked, and barefoot.

en ce temps-là, Yahweh parla par le ministère d'Isaïe, fils d'Amos, en disant: " Va, détache le sac qui couvre tes reins, et ôte les sandales de tes pieds. " Et il fit ainsi, marchant nu et déchaussé.

3 And the Lord said: As my servant Isaias hath walked, naked and barefoot, it shall be a sign and a wonder of three years upon Egypt, and upon Ethiopia,

Et Yahweh dit: " De même que mon serviteur Isaïe a marché nu et déchaussé; étant pendant trois ans un signe et un présage, pour l'Egypte et pour l'Ethiopie;

4 So shall the king of the Assyrians lead away the prisoners of Egypt, and the captivity of Ethiopia, young and old. naked and barefoot, with their buttocks uncovered to the shame of Egypt.

ainsi le roi d'Assyrie emmènera les captifs de l'Egypte, et les déportés de l'Ethiopie, jeunes gens et vieillards, nus et déchaussés, et les reins découverts, à la honte de l'Egypte.

5 And they shall be afraid, and ashamed of Ethiopia their hope, and of Egypt their glory.

Alors ils seront consternés et confus, à cause de l'Ethiopie, qui était leur espoir, et de l'Egypte qui était leur sujet de gloire.

6 And the inhabitants of this isle shall say in that day: Lo this was our hope, to whom we fled for help, to deliver up from the face of the king of the Assyrians: and how shall we be able to escape?

Et l'habitant de ce rivage dira en ce jour-là: Voilà ce qu'est devenu celui en qui nous espérions; celui auprès de qui nous voulions fuir pour chercher du secours, pour être délivrés, des mains du roi d'Assyrie! Et nous, comment échapperons-nous? "
