2 Chronicles 14
1 And Abia slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David: and Asa his son reigned in his stead: in his days the land was quiet ten years.
| ابیا درگذشت و در شهر داوود در کنار اجدادش دفن شد و پسرش آسا به جای او بر تخت سلطنت نشست. در طول ده سال اول سلطنت آسا، در قلمرو او صلح برقرار بود، |
2 And Asa did that which was good and pleasing in the sight of his God, and he destroyed the altars of foreign worship, and the high places.
| زیرا آسا اوامر خداوند، خدای خود را اطاعت می‌کرد و مطابق میل او رفتار می‌نمود. |
3 And broke the statues, and cut down the groves.
| او مذبحهای مردم بت‌پرست و بتخانه‌های ایشان را که روی تپه‌ها ساخته شده بودند خراب کرد، مجسمه‌ها و بتهای شرم‌آور اشیره را خرد نمود، |
4 And he commanded Juda to seek the Lord the God of their fathers, and to do the law, and all the commandments.
| و از تمام مردم یهودا خواست که اوامر و احکام خداوند، خدای اجدادشان را اطاعت کنند و از او پیروی نمایند. |
5 And he took away out of all the cities of Juda the altars, and temples, and reigned in peace.
| او تمام بتکده‌ها را از بالای تپه‌ها، و مذبحهای بخور را از همهٔ شهرهای یهودا برداشت. به همین علّت بود که خداوند به سرزمین او صلح و آرامش بخشید و او توانست در سراسر یهودا شهرهای حصاردار بسازد. |
6 He built also strong cities in Juda, for he was quiet, and there had no wars risen in his time, the Lord giving peace.
7 And he said to Juda: Let us build these cities, and compass them with walls, and fortify them with towers, and gates, and bars, while all is quiet from wars, because we have sought the Lord the God of our fathers, and he hath given us peace round about. So they built, and there was no hinderance in building.
| آسا به مردم یهودا گفت: «چون از خداوند، خدای خود پیروی کردیم او به ما صلح و آرامی بخشیده است. پس، از این فرصت استفاده کنیم و شهرها را بسازیم، دور آنها را حصار بکشیم و در اطراف آنها برجها و دروازه‌های پشتبنددار درست کنیم.» بنابراین ایشان با موفقیت شهرها را بنا کردند. |
8 And Asa had in his army of men that bore shields and spears of Juda three hundred thousand, and of Benjamin that bore shields and drew bows, two hundred and eighty thousand, all these were most valiant men.
| سپاه آسای پادشاه تشکیل شده بود از ۳۰۰٬۰۰۰ سرباز از یهودا که مجهز به نیزه و سپر بودند، و ۲۸۰٬۰۰۰ سرباز از بنیامین که مسلح به تیر و کمان و سپر بودند. همهٔ اینها جنگاورانی شجاع بودند. |
9 And Zara the Ethiopian came out against them with his army of ten hundred thousand men, and with three hundred chariots: and he came as far as Maresa.
| در این هنگام زارح سردار حبشی با لشکری بزرگ و سیصد ارابهٔ جنگی به شهر مریشه آمد. |
10 And Asa went out to meet him, and set his army in array for battle in the vale of Sephata, which is near Maresa:
| آسای پادشاه هم سپاه خود را برای جنگ با لشکر بزرگ حبشه به آنجا فرستاد. دو لشکر در درهٔ صفاته که نزدیک مریشه بود روبروی هم صف‌آرایی کردند. |
11 And he called upon the Lord God, and said: O Lord, there is no difference with thee, whether thou help with few, or with many: help us, O Lord our God: for with confidence in thee, and in thy name, we are come against this multitude. O Lord thou art our God, let not man prevail against thee.
| آسا به حضور خداوند، خدای خود چنین دعا کرد: «خداوندا فقط تو هستی که از ضعفا در مقابل زورمندان حمایت می‌کنی. ای خداوند، خدای ما، ما را یاری کن، زیرا چشم امیدمان فقط به توست و به نام تو به قلب این لشکر عظیم حمله می‌کنیم. ای خداوند، تو خدای ما هستی، نگذار انسان بر تو غالب آید!» |
12 And the Lord terrified the Ethiopians before Asa and Juda: and the Ethiopians fled.
| خداوند حبشی‌ها را شکست داد و آنها متواری شدند و آسا و سپاه یهودا به پیروزی رسیدند. |
13 And Asa and the people that were with him pursued them to Gerara: and the Ethiopians fell even to utter destruction, for the Lord slew them, and his army fought against them, and they were destroyed. And they took abundance of spoils,
| آسا و همراهانش ایشان را تا جرار تعقیب نمودند و عدهٔ بی‌شماری از حبشی‌ها را کشتند به طوری که لشکر آنان کاملاً متلاشی شد. به این ترتیب خداوند و نیروهای او آنها را از بین بردند و لشکر یهودا غنیمت فراوان به چنگ آورد. |
14 And they took all the cities round about Gerara: for a great fear was come upon all men: and they pillaged the cities, and carried off much booty.
| لشکر یهودا تمام شهرهای اطراف جرار را تسخیر نمود، زیرا ترس خداوند تمام ساکنان آن شهرها را فرا گرفته بود. لشکر یهودا از آنجا نیز غنایم بسیار به چنگ آورد. |
15 And they destroyed the sheepcotes, and took an infinite number of cattle, and of camels: and returned to Jerusalem.
| آنها همچنین پیش از آنکه به اورشلیم بازگردند، آغلهای حیوانات را خراب نموده، گله‌های گوسفند و شتران فراوانی گرفتند و با خود بردند. |
