Mark 5
1 And they came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gadarenes.
Et ils arrivèrent sur l'autre rive de la mer, dans le pays des Géraséniens.
2 And immediately on his going out of the ship there met him out of the tombs a man possessed by an unclean spirit,
Et lorsqu'il fut sorti de la barque, vint à lui de l'intérieur des tombeaux un homme possédé d'un esprit impur,
3 who had his dwelling in the tombs; and no one was able to bind him, not even with chains;
lequel avait son habitation dans les tombeaux, et personne ne pouvait plus le garrotter même avec une chaîne,
4 because he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been torn asunder by him, and the fetters were shattered; and no one was able to subdue him.
car souvent il avait été garrotté avec des entraves et des chaînes, et il avait mis en pièces les chaînes et broyé les entraves, et personne n'avait la force de le dompter;
5 And continually night and day, in the tombs and in the mountains, he was crying and cutting himself with stones.
et constamment, nuit et jour, il se tenait dans les tombeaux et dans les montagnes, poussant des cris et se frappant lui-même à coups de pierres.
6 But seeing Jesus from afar off, he ran and did him homage,
Et ayant vu Jésus de loin, il accourut et l'adora,
7 and crying with a loud voice he says, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I adjure thee by God, torment me not.
et ayant jeté un grand cri, il dit: « Qu'y a-t-il de commun entre moi et toi, Jésus, fils du Dieu très haut? Je t'en adjure au nom de Dieu, ne me torture pas. »
8 For he said to him, Come forth, unclean spirit, out of the man.
En effet il lui disait: « Esprit impur, sors de cet homme; »
9 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he says to him, Legion is my name, because we are many.
et il lui demandait: « Quel est ton nom? » Et il lui dit: « Mon nom est légion, car nous sommes plusieurs. »
10 And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.
Et il lui adressait beaucoup de sollicitations afin qu'il ne les envoyât pas hors du pays.
11 Now there was there just at the mountain a great herd of swine feeding;
Or il y avait là près de la montagne un grand troupeau de pourceaux au pâturage;
12 and they besought him, saying, Send us into the swine that we may enter into them.
et ils le sollicitèrent en disant: « Envoie-nous dans ces pourceaux, afin que nous entrions en eux. »
13 And Jesus [immediately] allowed them. And the unclean spirits going out entered into the swine, and the herd rushed down the steep slope, into the sea (about two thousand), and were choked in the sea.
Et il le leur permit, et les esprits impurs étant sortis entrèrent dans les pourceaux, et le troupeau se rua en bas du précipice dans la mer, au nombre d'environ deux mille, et ils furent submergés dans la mer.
14 And those that were feeding them fled and reported it in the city and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that had taken place.
Et ceux qui les faisaient paître s'enfuirent, et ils portèrent la nouvelle dans la ville et dans les campagnes, et on vint voir ce qui en était de l'événement.
15 And they come to Jesus, and they see the possessed of demons sitting [and] clothed and sensible, [him] that had had the legion: and they were afraid.
Et ils viennent vers Jésus, et ils voient le démoniaque assis, vêtu, et raisonnable, lui qui avait eu la légion, et ils furent saisis de terreur.
16 And they that had seen [it] related to them how it had happened to the [man] possessed by demons, and concerning the swine.
Et les témoins leur racontèrent comment les choses s'étaient passées pour le démoniaque et les pourceaux;
17 And they began to beg him to depart from their coasts.
et ils se mirent à le solliciter de sortir de leur territoire.
18 And as he went on board ship, the man that had been possessed by demons besought him that he might be with him.
Et comme il montait dans la barque, celui qui avait été démoniaque le sollicitait afin de rester avec lui;
19 And he suffered him not, but says to him, Go to thine home to thine own people, and tell them how great things the Lord has done for thee, and has had mercy on thee.
et il ne le lui permit pas, mais il lui dit: « Va-t-en dans ta maison auprès des tiens, et rapporte leur tout ce que le Seigneur a fait pour toi, et combien Il a eu compassion de toi. »
20 And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him; and all wondered.
Et il s'en alla, et il commença à proclamer dans la Décapole tout ce que Jésus avait fait pour lui; et tous étaient émerveillés.
21 And Jesus having passed over in the ship again to the other side, a great crowd gathered to him; and he was by the sea.
Et quand Jésus eut de nouveau traversé sur l'autre rive dans une barque, une foule nombreuse se rassembla près de lui, et il se tenait auprès la mer.
22 And [behold] there comes one of the rulers of the synagogue, by name Jairus, and seeing him, falls down at his feet;
Alors survient un des chefs de synagogue, nommé Jaïrus; et l'ayant vu, il tombe à ses pieds,
23 and he besought him much, saying, My little daughter is at extremity; [I pray] that thou shouldest come and lay thy hands upon her so that she may be healed, and may live.
et il lui adressait beaucoup de sollicitations, en disant: « Ma fille est à l'extrémité, viens poser les mains sur elle, afin qu'elle soit guérie et qu'elle vive. »
24 And he went with him, and a large crowd followed him and pressed on him.
Et il s'en alla avec lui, et une foule nombreuse le suivait, et elle le pressait fortement.
25 And a certain woman who had had a flux of blood twelve years,
Et une femme, qui depuis douze ans avait une perte de sang,
26 and had suffered much under many physicians, and had spent everything she had and had found no advantage from it, but had rather got worse,
et qui avait beaucoup souffert entre les mains de nombreux médecins, et qui avait dépensé tout son bien et n'y avait rien gagné, mais avait été plutôt de mal en pis,
27 having heard concerning Jesus, came in the crowd behind and touched his clothes;
ayant ouï ce qu'on disait de Jésus, vint dans la foule toucher par derrière son manteau;
28 for she said, If I shall touch but his clothes I shall be healed.
car elle disait: « Si je puis toucher ses vêtements, je serai guérie. »
29 And immediately her fountain of blood was dried up, and she knew in her body that she was cured from the scourge.
Et aussitôt l'écoulement de son sang se dessécha, et elle sentit en son corps qu'elle était guérie de son infirmité;
30 And immediately Jesus, knowing in himself the power that had gone out of him, turning round in the crowd said, Who has touched my clothes?
et aussitôt Jésus ayant senti en lui-même la force qui était sortie de lui, s'étant retourné au milieu de la foule, disait: « Qui est-ce qui a touché mes vêtements? »
31 And his disciples said to him, Thou seest the crowd pressing on thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
Et ses disciples lui disaient: « Tu vois la foule qui te presse, et tu dis: Qui est-ce qui m'a touché? »
32 And he looked round about to see her who had done this.
Et il portait autour de lui ses regards pour voir celle qui avait fait cela.
33 But the woman, frightened and trembling, knowing what had taken place in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
Mais la femme effrayée et tremblante, sachant ce qui lui était arrivé, vint, et se jeta à ses pieds, et lui dit toute la vérité.
34 And he said to her, Daughter, thy faith has healed thee; go in peace, and be well of thy scourge.
Mais il lui dit: « Ma fille, ta foi t'a guérie; va-t-en en paix et sois rétablie de ton infirmité. »
35 While he was yet speaking, they come from the ruler of the synagogue's [house], saying, Thy daughter has died, why troublest thou the teacher any further?
Comme il parlait encore surviennent de chez le chef de synagogue des gens qui disent: « Ta fille est morte, pourquoi importunes-tu encore le maître? »
36 But Jesus [immediately], having heard the word spoken, says to the ruler of the synagogue, Fear not; only believe.
Mais Jésus, sans faire attention à ce qu'on venait de dire, dit au chef de synagogue: « Ne crains point, crois seulement. »
37 And he suffered no one to accompany him save Peter and James, and John the brother of James.
Et il ne permit pas que personne l'accompagnât, sinon Pierre, et Jacques, et Jean le frère de Jacques.
38 And he comes to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and sees the tumult, and people weeping and wailing greatly.
Et ils arrivent à la maison du chef de synagogue, et il voit du bruit et des gens qui pleuraient et lamentaient beaucoup;
39 And entering in he says to them, Why do ye make a tumult and weep? the child has not died, but sleeps.
et étant entré il leur dit: « Pourquoi faites-vous du bruit et pleurez-vous? L'enfant n'est pas morte, mais elle dort. »
40 And they derided him. But he, having put [them] all out, takes with [him] the father of the child, and the mother, and those that were with him, and enters in where the child was lying.
Et ils se moquaient de lui. Mais les ayant chassés, il prend avec lui le père de l'enfant et sa mère et ceux qui étaient avec lui, et il entra là où était l'enfant,
41 And having laid hold of the hand of the child, he says to her, Talitha koumi, which is, interpreted, Damsel, I say to thee, Arise.
et ayant pris la main de l'enfant, il lui dit: Talitha koum, ce qui signifie étant traduit: « Petite fille, je te le dis, lève-toi. »
42 And immediately the damsel arose and walked, for she was twelve years old. And they were astonished with great astonishment.
Et aussitôt la petite fille se leva, et elle marchait; en effet elle avait douze ans. Et ils furent aussitôt saisis d'un grand étonnement;
43 And he charged them much that no one should know this; and he desired that [something] should be given her to eat.
et il leur enjoignit fortement que personne ne le sût, et il dit qu'on lui donnât à manger.
