Psalms 45
1 For the end, for alternate [strains] by the sons of Core; for instruction, a Song concerning the beloved. My heart has uttered a good matter: I declare my works to the king: my tongue is the pen of a quick writer.
Au maître de chant. Sur les lis. Cantique des fils de Coré. Chant d’amour. De mon cœur jaillit un beau chant; je dis: « Mon œuvre est pour un roi! » Ma langue est comme le roseau rapide du scribe,
2 You are more beautiful than the sons of men: grace has been shed forth on your lips: therefore God has blessed you for ever.
Tu es le plus beau des fils de l’homme, la grâce est répandue sur tes lèvres; c’est pourquoi Dieu t’a béni pour toujours.
3 Gird your sword upon your thigh, O Mighty One, in your comeliness, and in your beauty;
Ceins ton épée sur ta cuisse, ô héros, revêts ta splendeur et ta majesté.
4 and bend [your bow], and prosper, and reign, because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and your right hand shall guide you wonderfully.
Et dans ta majesté avance-toi, monte sur ton char, combats pour la vérité, la douceur et la justice; et que ta droite te fasse accomplir des faits merveilleux.
5 Your weapons are sharpened, Mighty One, (the nations shall fall under you) [they are] in the heart of the king's enemies.
Tes flèches sont aiguës; des peuples tomberont à tes pieds; elles perceront le cœur des ennemis du roi.
6 Your throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of your kingdom is a sceptre of righteousness.
Ton trône, ô Dieu, est établi pour toujours; le sceptre de ta royauté est un sceptre de droiture.
7 You have loved righteousness, and hated iniquity: therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your fellows.
Tu aimes la justice et tu hais l’iniquité: c’est pourquoi Dieu, ton Dieu, t’a oint d’une huile d’allégresse, de préférence à tes compagnons.
8 Myrrh, and stacte, and cassia [are exhaled] from your garments, [and] out of the ivory palaces,
La myrrhe, l’aloès et la casse s’exhalent de tous tes vêtements; des palais d’ivoire, les lyres te réjouissent.
9 with which kings' daughters have gladdened you for your honour: the queen stood by on your right hand, clothed in vesture wrought with gold, [and] arrayed in various colours.
Des filles de rois sont parmi tes bien-aimées; la reine est à ta droite, parée de l’or d’Ophir.
10 Hear, O daughter, and see, and incline your ear; forget also your people, and your father's house.
« Ecoute, ma fille, regarde et prête l’oreille: oublie ton peuple et la maison de ton père,
11 Because the king has desired your beauty; for he is your Lord.
et le roi sera épris de ta beauté; car il est ton Seigneur: rends-lui tes hommages.
12 And the daughter of Tyre shall adore him with gifts; the rich of the people of the land shall supplicate your favour.
La fille de Tyr, avec des présents, et les plus riches du peuple rechercheront ta faveur. »
13 All her glory [is that] of the daughter of the king of Esebon, robed [as she is] in golden fringed garments,
Toute resplendissante est la fille du roi dans l’intérieur; son vêtement [est fait] de tissus d’or.
14 in embroidered [clothing]: virgins shall be brought to the king after her: her fellows shall be brought to you.
En robe de couleurs variées elle est présentée au roi; après elles, des jeunes filles ses compagnes, te sont amenées.
15 They shall be brought with gladness and exultation: they shall be led into the king's temple.
On les introduit au milieu des réjouissances et de l’allégresse; elles entrent dans le palais du Roi.
16 Instead of your fathers children are born to you: you shall make them princes over all the earth.
Tes enfants prendront la place de tes pères; tu les établiras princes sur toute la terre.
17 They shall make mention of your name from generation to generation: therefore shall the nations give thanks to you for ever, even for ever and ever.
Je rappellerai ton nom dans tous les âges; et les peuples te loueront éternellement et à jamais.
