< Proverbs 13 >

1 A wise son is a lover of teaching, but the ears of the haters of authority are shut to sharp words.
Ny zanaka hendry mihaino ny fananaran-drainy; Fa ny mpaniratsira tsy mety mihaino, na dia anarina mafy aza.
2 A man will get good from the fruit of his lips, but the desire of the false is for violent acts.
Ny vokatry ny vavan’ ny olona no ahazoany soa; Fa ny hampidi-doza no mahafaly ny mpivadika.
3 He who keeps a watch on his mouth keeps his life; but he whose lips are open wide will have destruction.
Izay mahambim-bava no miaro ny ainy; Fa izay vavàna dia haringana.
4 The hater of work does not get his desires, but the soul of the hard workers will be made fat.
Ny fanahin’ ny kamo maniry, fa tsy mba mahazo; Fa ny fanahin’ ny mazoto hohatavezina.
5 The upright man is a hater of false words: the evil-doer gets a bad name and is put to shame.
Ny lainga dia halan’ ny marina; Fa ny ratsy fanahy manao izay maharikoriko sy mahamenatra.
6 Righteousness keeps safe him whose way is without error, but evil-doers are overturned by sin.
Ny fahamarinana miaro izay mandeha tsy misy tsiny; Fa ny haratsiana mamotraka ny mpanota.
7 A man may be acting as if he had wealth, but have nothing; another may seem poor, but have great wealth.
Misy mihambo ho manan-karena, nefa tsy manana na inona na inona; Misy kosa mody malahelo, nefa manana harena be.
8 A man will give his wealth in exchange for his life; but the poor will not give ear to sharp words.
Ny haren’ ny olona dia avotry ny ainy; Fa ny levilevy tsy mampiraika ny malahelo akory.
9 There is a glad dawn for the upright man, but the light of the sinner will be put out.
Ny fahazavan’ ny marina dia tsara firehitra; Fa ny jiron’ ny ratsy fanahy ho faty.
10 The only effect of pride is fighting; but wisdom is with the quiet in spirit.
Fifandirana ihany no vokatry ny fiavonavonana; Fa ao amin’ ny mino anatra no misy fahendrena.
11 Wealth quickly got will become less; but he who gets a store by the work of his hands will have it increased.
Ny harena azoazo foana dia mihena lalandava; Fa izay mahavatra mitsimpona no mampitombo.
12 Hope put off is a weariness to the heart; but when what is desired comes, it is a tree of life.
Ny fanantenana tsy azo vetivety dia mankarary am-bavafo; Fa hazon’ aina ny faniriana tanteraka.
13 He who makes sport of the word will come to destruction, but the respecter of the law will be rewarded.
Izay manamavo ny teny ho voasingony; Fa izay matahotra ny didy no hahazo valim-pitia.
14 The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, turning men away from the nets of death.
Ny fampianaran’ ny hendry dia loharanon’ aina Ka mampivily tsy ho ao amin’ ny fandriky ny fahafatesana.
15 Wise behaviour gets approval, but the way of the false is their destruction.
Ny fahendrena tsara dia ahazoam-pitia; Fa sarotra ny lalan’ ny mpivadika.
16 A sharp man does everything with knowledge, but a foolish man makes clear his foolish thoughts.
Ny mahira-tsaina, rehetra miasa amin’ ny fahalalana; Fa ny adala kosa mampiseho hadalana;
17 A man taking false news is a cause of trouble, but he who gives news rightly makes things well.
Ny iraka ratsy fanahy idiran-doza; Fa ny iraka mahatoky dia famelombelomana.
18 Need and shame will be the fate of him who is uncontrolled by training; but he who takes note of teaching will be honoured.
Fahalahelovana sy henatra no ho an’ izay mandà famaizana; Fa izay manaiky anatra no homem-boninahitra.
19 To get one's desire is sweet to the soul, but to give up evil is disgusting to the foolish.
Mamin’ ny fo ny faniriana tanteraka; Fa fahavetavetana eo imason’ ny adala ny hiala amin’ ny ratsy.
20 Go with wise men and be wise: but he who keeps company with the foolish will be broken.
Izay miara-dia amin’ ny hendry dia ho hendry; Fa izay misakaiza amin’ ny adala dia hidiran-doza.
21 Evil will overtake sinners, but the upright will be rewarded with good.
Ny mpanota dia enjehin’ ny loza: Fa hovalian-tsoa ny marina.
22 The heritage of the good man is handed down to his children's children; and the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the upright man.
Ny tsara fanahy mahenina lova ny zafiny, Fa ny haren’ ny mpanota kosa voatahiry ho an’ ny marina.
23 There is much food in the ploughed land of the poor; but it is taken away by wrongdoing.
Ny tanin’ ny malahelo izay voasa dia ahazoana hanina be; Fa maro no ringana noho ny fanaovan’ izay tsy rariny.
24 He who keeps back his rod is unkind to his son: the loving father gives punishment with care.
Izay mitsitsy ny tsorakazony dia tsy tia ny zanany; Fa izay tia zanaka dia manafay azy, raha mbola kely.
25 The upright man has food to the full measure of his desire, but there will be no food for the stomach of evil-doers.
Ny marina mihinana ka voky tsara; Fa noana ny kibon’ ny ratsy fanahy.
