Proverbs 28
1 The wicked flee when no man pursueth; But the righteous are bold as a lion.
Fogem os impios, sem que ninguem os persiga; mas qualquer justo está confiado como o filho do leão.
2 For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof; But by men of understanding [and] knowledge the state [thereof] shall be prolonged.
Pela transgressão da terra são muitos os seus principes, mas por homens prudentes e entendidos a sua continuação será prolongada.
3 A needy man that oppresseth the poor Is [like] a sweeping rain which leaveth no food.
O homem pobre que opprime aos pobres é como chuva impetuosa, com que ha falta de pão.
4 They that forsake the law praise the wicked; But such as keep the law contend with them.
Os que deixam a lei louvam o impio; porém os que guardam a lei pelejam contra elles.
5 Evil men understand not justice; But they that seek Jehovah understand all things.
Os homens maus não entendem o juizo, mas os que buscam ao Senhor entendem tudo.
6 Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, Than he that is perverse in [his] ways, though he be rich.
Melhor é o pobre que anda na sua sinceridade do que o perverso de caminhos, ainda que seja rico.
7 Whoso keepeth the law is a wise son; But he that is a companion of gluttons shameth his father.
O que guarda a lei é filho entendido, mas o companheiro dos comilões envergonha a seu pae.
8 He that augmenteth his substance by interest and increase, Gathereth it for him that hath pity on the poor.
O que augmenta a sua fazenda com usura e onzena, o ajunta para o que se compadece do pobre.
9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, Even his prayer is an abomination.
O que desvia os seus ouvidos d'ouvir a lei até a sua oração será abominavel.
10 Whoso causeth the upright to go astray in an evil way, He shall fall himself into his own pit; But the perfect shall inherit good.
O que faz com que os rectos errem n'um mau caminho elle mesmo cairá na sua cova: mas os bons herdarão o bem.
11 The rich man is wise in his own conceit; But the poor that hath understanding searcheth him out.
O homem rico é sabio aos seus proprios olhos, mas o pobre que é entendido o esquadrinha.
12 When the righteous triumph, there is great glory; But when the wicked rise, men hide themselves.
Quando os justos exultam, grande é a gloria; mas quando os impios sobem, os homens se andam escondendo.
13 He that covereth his transgressions shall not prosper; But whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall obtain mercy.
O que encobre as suas transgressões nunca prosperará, mas o que as confessa e deixa alcançará misericordia.
14 Happy is the man that feareth alway; But he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.
Bemaventurado o homem que continuamente teme: mas o que endurece o seu coração virá a cair no mal.
15 [As] a roaring lion, and a ranging bear, [So is] a wicked ruler over a poor people.
Como leão bramante, e urso faminto, assim é o impio que domina sobre um povo pobre.
16 The prince that lacketh understanding is also a great oppressor; [But] he that hateth covetousness shall prolong his days.
O principe falto d'intelligencia tambem multiplica as oppressões, mas o que aborrece a avareza prolongará os seus dias.
17 A man that is laden with the blood of any person Shall flee unto the pit; let no man stay him.
O homem carregado do sangue de qualquer pessoa fugirá até á cova: ninguem o retenha.
18 Whoso walketh uprightly shall be delivered; But he that is perverse in [his] ways shall fall at once.
O que anda sinceramente salvar-se-ha, mas o perverso em seus caminhos cairá logo.
19 He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread; But he that followeth after vain [persons] shall have poverty enough.
O que lavrar a sua terra virá a fartar-se de pão, mas o que segue a ociosos se fartará de pobreza.
20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings; But he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be unpunished.
O homem fiel abundará em bençãos, mas o que se apressa a enriquecer não será innocente.
21 To have respect of persons is not good; Neither that a man should transgress for a piece of bread.
Ter respeito á apparencia de pessoas não é bom, porque até por um bocado de pão prevaricará o homem
22 He that hath an evil eye hasteth after riches, And knoweth not that want shall come upon him.
O que se apressa a enriquecer é homem de mau olho, porém não sabe que ha de vir sobre elle a pobreza.
23 He that rebuketh a man shall afterward find more favor Than he that flattereth with the tongue.
O que reprehende ao homem depois achará mais favor do que aquelle que lisongeia com a lingua.
24 Whoso robbeth his father or his mother, and saith, It is no transgression, The same is the companion of a destroyer.
O que rouba a seu pae, ou a sua mãe, e diz: Não ha transgressão; companheiro é do homem dissipador.
25 He that is of a greedy spirit stirreth up strife; But he that putteth his trust in Jehovah shall be made fat.
O altivo d'animo levanta contendas, mas o que confia no Senhor engordará.
26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool; But whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.
O que confia no seu coração é insensato, mas o que anda em sabedoria elle escapará.
27 He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack; But he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.
O que dá ao pobre não terá necessidade, mas o que esconde os seus olhos terá muitas maldições.
28 When the wicked rise, men hide themselves; But when they perish, the righteous increase.
Quando os impios se elevam, os homens se andam escondendo, mas quando perecem, os justos se multiplicam.
