Proverbs 29
1 He that being often reproved hardeneth his neck Shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.
O homem que muitas vezes reprehendido endurece a cerviz de repente será quebrantado sem que haja cura.
2 When the righteous are increased, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man beareth rule, the people sigh.
Quando os justos se engrandecem, o povo se alegra, mas quando o impio domina o povo suspira.
3 Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father; But he that keepeth company with harlots wasteth [his] substance.
O homem que ama a sabedoria alegra a seu pae, mas o companheiro de prostitutas desperdiça a fazenda.
4 The king by justice establisheth the land; But he that exacteth gifts overthroweth it.
O rei com juizo sustem a terra, mas o amigo de peitas a transtorna.
5 A man that flattereth his neighbor Spreadeth a net for his steps.
O homem que lisongeia a seu proximo, arma uma rede aos seus passos.
6 In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare; But the righteous doth sing and rejoice.
Na transgressão do homem mau ha laço, mas o justo jubila e se alegra.
7 The righteous taketh knowledge of the cause of the poor; The wicked hath not understanding to know [it].
Informa-se o justo da causa dos pobres, mas o impio não comprehende o conhecimento.
8 Scoffers set a city in a flame; But wise men turn away wrath.
Os homens escarnecedores abrazam a cidade, mas os sabios desviam a ira.
9 If a wise man hath a controversy with a foolish man, Whether he be angry or laugh, there will be no rest.
O homem sabio que pleiteia com o tolo, quer se turbe quer se ria, não terá descanço.
10 The bloodthirsty hate him that is perfect; And as for the upright, they seek his life.
Os homens sanguinolentos aborrecem ao sincero, mas os rectos procuram o seu bem.
11 A fool uttereth all his anger; But a wise man keepeth it back and stilleth it.
Todo o seu espirito profere o tolo, mas o sabio o encobre e reprime.
12 If a ruler hearkeneth to falsehood, All his servants are wicked.
O governador que dá attenção ás palavras mentirosas, achará que todos os seus servos são impios.
13 The poor man and the oppressor meet together; Jehovah lighteneth the eyes of them both.
O pobre e o usurario se encontram, e o Senhor allumia os olhos d'ambos.
14 The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, His throne shall be established for ever.
O rei, que julga os pobres conforme a verdade, firmará o seu throno para sempre.
15 The rod and reproof give wisdom; But a child left to himself causeth shame to his mother.
A vara e a reprehensão dão sabedoria, mas o rapaz entregue a si mesmo envergonha a sua mãe.
16 When the wicked are increased, transgression increaseth; But the righteous shall look upon their fall.
Quando os impios se multiplicam, multiplicam-se as transgressões, mas os justos verão a sua quéda.
17 Correct thy son, and he will give thee rest; Yea, he will give delight unto thy soul.
Castiga a teu filho, e te fará descançar; e dará delicias á tua alma.
18 Where there is no vision, the people cast off restraint; But he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
Não havendo prophecia, o povo fica dissoluto; porém o que guarda a lei esse é bemaventurado:
19 A servant will not be corrected by words; For though he understand, he will not give heed.
O servo se não emendará com palavras, porque, ainda que te entenda, todavia não responderá.
20 Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? There is more hope of a fool than of him.
Tens visto um homem arremessado nas suas palavras? maior esperança ha d'um tolo do que d'elle.
21 He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child Shall have him become a son at the last.
Quando alguem cria delicadamente o seu servo desde a mocidade, por derradeiro quererá ser seu filho.
22 An angry man stirreth up strife, And a wrathful man aboundeth in transgression.
O homem iracundo levanta contendas; e o furioso multiplica as transgressões.
23 A man’s pride shall bring him low; But he that is of a lowly spirit shall obtain honor.
A soberba do homem o abaterá, mas o humilde d'espirito reterá a gloria.
24 Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul; He heareth the adjuration and uttereth nothing.
O que tem parte com o ladrão aborrece a sua propria alma: ouve maldições, e não o denuncia.
25 The fear of man bringeth a snare; But whoso putteth his trust in Jehovah shall be safe.
O temor do homem armará laços, mas o que confia no Senhor será posto em alto retiro.
26 Many seek the ruler’s favor; But a man’s judgment [cometh] from Jehovah.
Muitos buscam a face do principe, mas o juizo de cada um vem do Senhor.
27 An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous; And he that is upright in the way is an abomination to the wicked.
Abominação é para os justos o homem iniquo, mas abominação é para o impio o de rectos caminhos.
