Revelation 8

1 When he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.

Quand l'Agneau ouvrit le septième sceau, il se fit dans le ciel un silence d'environ une demi-heure.

2 I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and seven trumpets were given to them.

Alors je vis les sept anges qui se tiennent devant Dieu, et on leur donna sept trompettes.

3 Another angel came and stood over the altar, having a golden censer. Much incense was given to him, that he should add it to the prayers of all the saints on the golden altar which was before the throne.

Puis il vint un autre ange, qui se tint près de l'autel: il avait un encensoir d'or, et on lui donna beaucoup de parfums pour les offrir, avec les prières de tous les saints, sur l'autel d'or qui est devant le trône.

4 The smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, went up before God out of the angel’s hand.

Et la fumée des parfums s'éleva de la main de l'ange, devant Dieu, avec les prières des saints.

5 The angel took the censer, and he filled it with the fire of the altar, then threw it on the earth. Thunders, sounds, lightnings, and an earthquake followed.

L'ange prit l'encensoir, le remplit du feu de l'autel, et le jeta sur la terre: il y eut des tonnerres, des voix, des éclairs, et la terre trembla.

6 The seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.

Alors les sept anges, qui avaient les sept trompettes, se préparèrent à en sonner.

7 The first sounded, and there followed hail and fire, mixed with blood, and they were thrown to the earth. One third of the earth was burned up, and one third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up.

Le premier sonna de la trompette; et il y eut de la grêle et du feu mêlés de sang, qui furent jetés sur la terre. Le tiers de la terre fut brûlé; le tiers des arbres fut brûlé; toute herbe verte fut aussi brûlée.

8 The second angel sounded, and something like a great burning mountain was thrown into the sea. One third of the sea became blood,

Le second ange sonna de la trompette; et une masse, pareille à une grande montagne toute en feu, fut jetée dans la mer. Le tiers de la mer devint du sang;

9 and one third of the living creatures which were in the sea died. One third of the ships were destroyed.

le tiers des créatures vivantes qui étaient dans la mer mourut, et le tiers des navires fut détruit.

10 The third angel sounded, and a great star fell from the sky, burning like a torch, and it fell on one third of the rivers, and on the springs of water.

Le troisième ange sonna de la trompette; et il tomba du ciel une grande étoile, enflammée comme une torche; elle tomba sur le tiers des fleuves et sur les sources d'eau.

11 The name of the star is “Wormwood.” One third of the waters became wormwood. Many people died from the waters, because they were made bitter.

Le nom de cette étoile est Absinthe. Le tiers des eaux fut changé en absinthe, et ces eaux firent périr un grand nombre d'hommes, parce qu'elles étaient devenues amères.

12 The fourth angel sounded, and one third of the sun was struck, and one third of the moon, and one third of the stars, so that one third of them would be darkened; and the day would not shine for one third of it, and the night in the same way.

Le quatrième ange sonna de la trompette; et le tiers du soleil fut frappé, ainsi que le tiers de la lune et le tiers des étoiles, en sorte que le tiers de ces astres fut rendu obscur, et que le jour perdit le tiers de sa clarté, aussi bien que la nuit.

13 I saw, and I heard an eagle, flying in mid heaven, saying with a loud voice, “Woe! Woe! Woe to those who dwell on the earth, because of the other blasts of the trumpets of the three angels, who are yet to sound!”

Alors je regardai, et j'entendis un aigle qui volait au milieu du ciel, disant d'une voix forte: Malheur! Malheur! Malheur aux habitants de la terre, à cause du son des trompettes que les trois autres anges doivent encore faire entendre!
