Revelation 21
1 I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth have passed away, and the sea is no more.
Puis, je vis un ciel nouveau et une terre nouvelle; car le premier ciel et la première terre avaient disparu, et la mer n'était plus.
2 I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared like a bride adorned for her husband.
Je vis aussi la cité sainte, la Jérusalem nouvelle, qui descendait du ciel, d'auprès de Dieu, prête comme une épouse qui s'est parée pour son époux.
3 I heard a loud voice out of heaven saying, “Behold, God’s dwelling is with people; and he will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.
Et j'entendis une voix forte qui venait du trône, et qui disait: Voici le Tabernacle de Dieu au milieu des hommes! Il habitera avec eux, et ils seront son peuple; Dieu lui-même sera avec eux.
4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; neither will there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain any more. The first things have passed away.”
Il essuiera toute larme de leurs yeux; la mort ne sera plus, et il n'y aura plus ni deuil, ni cri, ni souffrance; car les premières choses auront disparu.
5 He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” He said, “Write, for these words of God are faithful and true.”
Celui qui était assis sur le trône dit: ô Je vais renouveler toutes choses. Puis il ajouta: Écris; car ces paroles sont certaines et véritables.
6 He said to me, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give freely to him who is thirsty from the spring of the water of life.
Il me dit encore: C'en est fait! Je suis l'Alpha et l'Oméga, le commencement et la fin. A celui qui a soif, je donnerai gratuitement de la source de l'eau vive.
7 He who overcomes, I will give him these things. I will be his God, and he will be my son.
Celui qui vaincra, héritera ces choses; et je serai son Dieu, et il sera mon fils.
9 One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls which were loaded with the seven last plagues came, and he spoke with me, saying, “Come here. I will show you the bride, the Lamb’s wife.”
L'un des sept anges qui avaient tenu les sept coupes, pleines des sept derniers fléaux, vint à moi et me dit: Viens; je te montrerai la fiancée, l'épouse de l'Agneau.
10 He carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God,
Il me transporta en esprit sur une grande et haute montagne, et il me montra la cité sainte, Jérusalem, qui descendait du ciel, d'auprès de Dieu, resplendissante de la gloire de Dieu.
11 having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;
Son éclat était semblable à celui d'une pierre précieuse, d'une pierre de jaspe cristallin.
12 having a great and high wall with twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel.
Elle avait une grande et haute muraille, avec douze portes, et sur les portes étaient douze anges, et des noms écrits, qui sont les noms des douze tribus des enfants d'Israël:
13 On the east were three gates, and on the north three gates, and on the south three gates, and on the west three gates.
à l'Orient, trois portes; au Nord, trois portes; au Midi, trois portes; à l'Occident, trois portes.
14 The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them twelve names of the twelve Apostles of the Lamb.
La muraille de la ville avait douze fondements, sur lesquels étaient douze noms, les noms des douze apôtres de l'Agneau.
15 He who spoke with me had for a measure a golden reed to measure the city, its gates, and its walls.
Celui qui me parlait tenait une mesure, un roseau d'or pour mesurer la ville, ses portes et sa muraille.
16 The city is square. Its length is as great as its width. He measured the city with the reed: twelve thousand twelve stadia. Its length, width, and height are equal.
La ville est disposée en carré, et sa longueur est égale à sa largeur. Il mesura la ville avec le roseau; elle avait douze mille stades; sa longueur, sa largeur et sa hauteur étaient égales.
17 Its wall is one hundred forty-four cubits, by the measure of a man, that is, of an angel.
Il mesura aussi la muraille: elle avait cent quarante-quatre coudées, mesure d'homme, qui était celle de l'ange.
18 The construction of its wall was jasper. The city was pure gold, like pure glass.
La muraille était bâtie en jaspe, et la ville était d'un or pur, semblable à un pur cristal.
19 The foundations of the city’s wall were adorned with all kinds of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire; the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald,
Les fondements de la muraille de la ville étaient ornés de pierres précieuses de toute espèce. Le premier était de jaspe; le second, de saphir; le troisième, de calcédoine; le quatrième, d'émeraude;
20 the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst.
le cinquième, de sardoine; le sixième, de cornaline; le septième, de chrysolithe; le huitième, de béryl; le neuvième, de topaze; le dixième, de chrysoprase; le onzième, d'hyacinthe; le douzième, d'améthyste.
21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls. Each one of the gates was made of one pearl. The street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.
Les douze portes étaient douze perles, chaque porte formée d'une seule perle. Et la place de la ville était en or pur, semblable à un cristal transparent.
22 I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.
Je n'y vis point de temple; car le Seigneur Dieu tout-puissant en est le temple, ainsi que l'Agneau.
23 The city has no need for the sun or moon to shine, for the very glory of God illuminated it and its lamp is the Lamb.
La ville n'a besoin ni de soleil, ni de lune, pour l'éclairer; car la gloire de Dieu l'éclairé, et l'Agneau est son flambeau.
24 The nations will walk in its light. The kings of the earth bring the glory and honor of the nations into it.
Les nations marcheront à sa lumière, et les rois de la terre y apporteront leur gloire.
25 Its gates will in no way be shut by day (for there will be no night there),
Ses portes ne se fermeront jamais pendant le jour; et là, il n'y aura plus de nuit.
26 and they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it so that they may enter.
On y apportera la gloire et les richesses des nations;
27 There will in no way enter into it anything profane, or one who causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
il n'y entrera rien de souillé, ni personne qui se livre à l'abomination et au mensonge, mais ceux-là seuls qui sont inscrits dans le livre de vie de l'Agneau.
