Matthew 21
1 When they came near to Jerusalem and came to Bethsphage, to the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,
Comme ils approchaient de Jérusalem, et qu'ils étaient déjà à Bethphagé, près de la montagne des Oliviers, Jésus envoya deux disciples,
2 saying to them, “Go into the village that is opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Untie them and bring them to me.
en leur disant: Allez au village qui est devant vous; vous trouverez aussitôt une ânesse attachée, et un ânon avec elle; détachez-les et amenez-les-moi.
3 If anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord needs them,’ and immediately he will send them.”
Si l'on vous dit quelque chose, vous répondrez que le Seigneur en a besoin; et aussitôt on les enverra.
4 All this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying,
Or, tout cela eut lieu, afin que cette parole du prophète fût accomplie:
5 “Tell the daughter of Zion, behold, your King comes to you, humble, and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.”
«Dites à la fille de Sion: Voici que ton roi vient à toi, débonnaire, monté sur un âne, sur un ânon, le petit de celle qui porte le joug.»
6 The disciples went and did just as Jesus commanded them,
Les disciples s'en allèrent donc et firent ce que Jésus leur avait ordonné.
7 and brought the donkey and the colt and laid their clothes on them; and he sat on them.
Ils amenèrent l'ânesse et l'ânon, et, ayant mis leurs vêtements dessus, ils l'y firent asseoir.
8 A very great multitude spread their clothes on the road. Others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.
Alors le peuple, en foule, étendit ses vêtements sur le chemin; d'autres coupaient des branches aux arbres et en jonchaient la route.
9 The multitudes who went in front of him, and those who followed, kept shouting, “Hosanna to the son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”
Et les foules qui marchaient devant lui comme celles qui suivaient, criaient: Hosanna au fils de David! Béni soit celui qui vient au nom du Seigneur! Hosanna au plus haut des cieux!
10 When he had come into Jerusalem, all the city was stirred up, saying, “Who is this?”
Quand il fut entré dans Jérusalem, toute la ville fut en émoi, et on disait: Qui est celui-ci?
11 The multitudes said, “This is the prophet, Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee.”
Et la foule répondait: C'est Jésus, le prophète de Nazareth, en Galilée.
12 Jesus entered into the temple of God and drove out all of those who sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the money changers’ tables and the seats of those who sold the doves.
Jésus entra dans le temple, et il en chassa tous ceux qui vendaient et qui achetaient; il renversa les tables des changeurs et les sièges de ceux qui vendaient les pigeons.
13 He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a den of robbers!”
Puis il leur dit: Il est écrit: «Ma maison sera appelée une maison de prière»; mais vous, vous en faites une caverne de voleurs!
14 The lame and the blind came to him in the temple, and he healed them.
Alors des aveugles et des boiteux vinrent à lui dans le temple, et il les guérit.
15 But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children who were crying in the temple and saying, “Hosanna to the son of David!” they were indignant,
Mais les principaux sacrificateurs et les scribes, voyant les merveilles qu'il avait faites, et les enfants qui criaient dans le temple: Hosanna au Fils de David! en furent indignés,
16 and said to him, “Do you hear what these are saying?” Jesus said to them, “Yes. Did you never read, ‘Out of the mouth of children and nursing babies, you have perfected praise’?”
et ils lui dirent: Entends-tu ce que disent ces enfants? Jésus leur répondit: Oui. N'avez-vous donc jamais lu ces paroles: «Tu as tiré ta louange de la bouche des petits enfants et de ceux qui sont à la mamelle»?
17 He left them and went out of the city to Bethany, and camped there.
Puis, les ayant laissés, il sortit de la ville et s'en alla à Béthanie, où il passa la nuit.
18 Now in the morning, as he returned to the city, he was hungry.
Le matin, comme il retournait à la ville, il eut faim.
19 Seeing a fig tree by the road, he came to it and found nothing on it but leaves. He said to it, "Let there be no fruit from you for the age (aiōn g165)!" Immediately the fig tree withered away.
Voyant un figuier sur le chemin, il s'en approcha; mais il n'y trouva que des feuilles, et il lui dit: Que jamais plus il ne naisse de toi aucun fruit! Aussitôt le figuier sécha. (aiōn g165)
20 When the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, “How did the fig tree immediately wither away?”
Les disciples, ayant vu cela, s'étonnèrent et dirent: Comment ce figuier est-il devenu sec en un instant?
21 Jesus answered them, “Most certainly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you told this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ it would be done.
Jésus leur répondit: En vérité, je vous le déclare, si vous aviez de la foi, et que vous ne doutiez point, non seulement vous feriez ce qui a été fait au figuier, mais même si vous disiez à cette montagne: Soulève-toi et jette-toi dans la mer — cela se ferait.
22 All things, whatever you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”
Et tout ce que vous demanderez avec foi, en priant, vous le recevrez.
23 When he had come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him as he was teaching, and said, “By what authority do you do these things? Who gave you this authority?”
Quand il fut entré dans le temple, les principaux sacrificateurs et les anciens du peuple s'approchèrent de lui, pendant qu'il enseignait, et ils lui dirent: Par quelle autorité fais-tu ces choses? Et qui t'a donné cette autorité?
24 Jesus answered them, “I also will ask you one question, which if you tell me, I likewise will tell you by what authority I do these things.
Jésus leur répondit: Je vous poserai, moi aussi, une question, et si vous m'y répondez, je vous dirai aussi en vertu de quelle autorité je fais ces choses.
25 The baptism of John, where was it from? From heaven or from men?” They reasoned with themselves, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will ask us, ‘Why then did you not believe him?’
Le baptême de Jean, d'où venait-il: du ciel ou des hommes? Or, ils raisonnaient ainsi entre eux: Si nous répondons: du ciel — il nous dira: Pourquoi donc n'avez-vous pas cru à sa parole?
26 But if we say, ‘From men,’ we fear the multitude, for all hold John as a prophet.”
Et si nous répondons: des hommes — nous avons à craindre le peuple; car tous regardent Jean comme un prophète.
27 They answered Jesus, and said, “We do not know.” He also said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.
Ils répondirent donc à Jésus: Nous ne savons! Il leur dit à son tour: Et moi non plus, je ne vous dirai point en vertu de quelle autorité je fais ces choses.
28 But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first, and said, ‘Son, go work today in my vineyard.’
Que vous semble-t-il de ceci? Un homme avait deux fils. Il s'adressa au premier et lui dit: Mon enfant, va aujourd'hui travailler à la vigne.
29 He answered, ‘I will not,’ but afterward he changed his mind, and went.
Il répondit: Oui, Seigneur! Et il n'y alla point. Puis le père vint à l'autre, et il lui dit la même chose.
30 He came to the second, and said the same thing. He answered, ‘I am going, sir,’ but he did not go.
Celui-ci répondit: Je ne veux pas! Mais plus tard, s'étant repenti, il y alla.
31 Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said to him, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Most certainly I tell you that the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering into God’s Kingdom before you.
Lequel des deux a fait la volonté du Père? Ils lui dirent: C'est le dernier. Jésus leur dit: En vérité, je vous le déclare, les péagers et les femmes de mauvaise vie vous devancent dans le royaume de Dieu!
32 For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him; but the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him. When you saw it, you did not even repent afterward, that you might believe him.
Car Jean est venu à vous dans la voie de la justice, et vous ne l'avez point cru; mais les péagers et les femmes de mauvaise vie l'ont cru. Et vous, qui avez vu cela, vous ne vous êtes pas repentis ensuite pour le croire.
33 “Hear another parable. There was a man who was a master of a household who planted a vineyard, set a hedge about it, dug a wine press in it, built a tower, leased it out to farmers, and went into another country.
Ecoutez une autre parabole: Il y avait un père de famille qui planta une vigne. Il l'environna d'une haie, y creusa un pressoir et y bâtit une tour; puis il la loua à des vignerons et quitta le pays.
34 When the season for the fruit came near, he sent his servants to the farmers to receive his fruit.
Le temps de la récolte étant proche, il envoya ses serviteurs auprès des vignerons pour recueillir le produit de sa vigne.
35 The farmers took his servants, beat one, killed another, and stoned another.
Les vignerons, ayant saisi les serviteurs, battirent l'un, tuèrent l'autre, et ils en lapidèrent un troisième.
36 Again, he sent other servants more than the first; and they treated them the same way.
Il envoya encore d'autres serviteurs, en plus grand nombre que les premiers, et ils les traitèrent de même.
37 But afterward he sent to them his son, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’
Enfin, il leur envoya son propre fils, on disant: Ils respecteront mon fils!
38 But the farmers, when they saw the son, said among themselves, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him and seize his inheritance.’
Mais quand les vignerons virent le fils, ils se dirent entre eux: C'est l'héritier. Allons! Tuons-le, et nous aurons son héritage.
39 So they took him and threw him out of the vineyard, then killed him.
Puis l'ayant saisi, ils le jetèrent hors de la vigne, et ils le tuèrent.
40 When therefore the lord of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those farmers?”
Quand donc le maître de la vigne viendra, que fera-t-il à ces vignerons?
41 They told him, “He will miserably destroy those miserable men, and will lease out the vineyard to other farmers who will give him the fruit in its season.”
Ils lui répondirent: Il fera périr misérablement ces misérables, et il louera la vigne à d'autres vignerons, qui lui en donneront les fruits dans la saison.
42 Jesus said to them, “Did you never read in the Scriptures, ‘The stone which the builders rejected was made the head of the corner. This was from the Lord. It is marvelous in our eyes’?
Jésus leur dit: N'avez-vous jamais lu dans les Écritures: «La pierre rejetée par ceux qui bâtissaient est devenue la pierre de l'angle; c'est l'ouvrage du Seigneur, et c'est une merveille devant nos yeux»?
43 “Therefore I tell you, God’s Kingdom will be taken away from you and will be given to a nation producing its fruit.
C'est pourquoi, je vous le déclare, le royaume de Dieu vous sera ôté, et il sera donné à une nation qui en produira les fruits.
44 He who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, but on whomever it will fall, it will scatter him as dust.”
Celui qui tombera sur cette pierre sera brisé, et celui sur qui elle tombera, elle l'écrasera.
45 When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they perceived that he spoke about them.
Quand les principaux sacrificateurs et les pharisiens entendirent ces paraboles, ils comprirent qu'il parlait d'eux.
46 When they sought to seize him, they feared the multitudes, because they considered him to be a prophet.
Ils cherchaient à se saisir de lui; mais ils avaient peur du peuple, parce qu'on regardait Jésus comme un prophète.
