1 Chiengʼ moro achiel kane opuonjo ji ei laru mar hekalu, kendo noyalo Injili, jodolo madongo gi jopuonj chik, kaachiel kod jodongo nobiro ire.
On one of those days, as he was teaching the people in the temple and preaching the Good News, the priests and scribes came to him with the elders.
2 Negiwachone niya, “Nyiswa ni en teko mane ma itimogo gigi. En ngʼa momiyi teko ma in-goni?”
They asked him, “Tell us: by what authority do you do these things? Or who is giving you this authority?”
3 Nodwoko niya, “An bende abiro penjou penjo. Nyisauru:
He answered them, “I also will ask you one question. Tell me:
4 Uparo ni batiso mar Johana noa e polo koso noa kuom dhano?”
the baptism of John, was it from heaven, or from men?”
5 Negiwuoyo kuom wachni e kindgi giwegi kendo giwacho niya, “Ka wawacho ni, ‘Noa e polo,’ to obiro penjowa ni, ‘Angʼo momiyo nutamoru yie kuome?’
They reasoned with themselves, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say, ‘Why didn’t you believe him?’
6 To ka wawacho ni, ‘Noa kuom dhano,’ ji duto biro chielowa gi kite, nikech ne giyie ni Johana ne en janabi.”
But if we say, ‘From men,’ all the people will stone us, for they are persuaded that John was a prophet.”
7 Omiyo negidwoko niya, “Ok wangʼeyo kuma ne oaye.”
They answered that they didn’t know where it was from.
8 Yesu nowachonegi niya, “An bende ok abi nyisou kuma agole teko ma atimogo gigi.”
Jesus said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.”
9 Yesu nodhi nyime kogoyonegi ngero niya, “Ngʼat moro ne opidho mzabibu, ne okete e lwet jopur moko kendo nodhi kamoro kuom ndalo mangʼeny.
He began to tell the people this parable: “A man planted a vineyard and rented it out to some farmers, and went into another country for a long time.
10 E kinde mar keyo nooro jatichne moro ir jopur puodho mondo gimiye olemo moko mane ochiek e puoth mzabibu. To jopur puodho nogoye kendo noriembe gi lwete nono.
At the proper season, he sent a servant to the farmers to collect his share of the fruit of the vineyard. But the farmers beat him and sent him away empty.
11 Nochako ooro jatich machielo, to ngʼatni bende negigoyo kendo timo ne tim wichkuot, ka giriembe gi lwete nono.
He sent yet another servant, and they also beat him and treated him shamefully, and sent him away empty.
12 Nooro kendo ngʼat mar adek, to ne gihinye ma giriembe oko.
He sent yet a third, and they also wounded him and threw him out.
13 “Eka wuon puoth mzabibu nowacho ni, ‘Abiro timo angʼo? Abiro oro wuoda mahero, kamoro dipo ginyalo winje!’
The lord of the vineyard said, ‘What shall I do? I will send my beloved son. It may be that seeing him, they will respect him.’
14 “To ka jopur nonene, ne giwuoyo kuome kagiwacho ni, ‘Ma e jacham girkeni. Wanegeuru, to mondo girkeni odongʼnwa!’
“But when the farmers saw him, they reasoned amongst themselves, saying, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.’
15 Omiyo negidhire gigole oko mar puoth mzabibu kendo neginege. “Angʼo ma wuon puoth mzabibu notimnegi?
Then they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. What therefore will the lord of the vineyard do to them?
16 Obiro biro moneg jopur puodhogo mi ogol puoth mzabibuno e lwetgi mi enomi joma moko.” Kane ji owinjo wachno, negiwacho niya, “Mad gima kama kik timre!”
He will come and destroy these farmers, and will give the vineyard to others.” When they heard that, they said, “May that never be!”
17 Yesu nongʼiyogi kochomo wangʼe kuomgi kendo nopenjo niya, “Kara ere tiend gino mondiki: “‘Kidi mane jogedo odagi osedoko kidi motegno moriwo kor ot.’
But he looked at them and said, “Then what is this that is written, ‘The stone which the builders rejected was made the chief cornerstone’?
18 Ngʼato ka ngʼato mopodho kuom kidino notur matindo tindo, to ngʼatno ma kidino ogore kuome noregre ka buru.”
Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces, but it will crush whomever it falls on to dust.”
19 Jopuonj chik kod jodolo madongo nochako manyo yo mane ginyalo makego mapiyo, nikech negingʼeyo ni ogetogi kod ngeroni. To negiluoro ji.
The chief priests and the scribes sought to lay hands on him that very hour, but they feared the people—for they knew he had spoken this parable against them.

They watched him and sent out spies, who pretended to be righteous, that they might trap him in something he said, so as to deliver him up to the power and authority of the governor.

They asked him, “Teacher, we know that you say and teach what is right, and aren’t partial to anyone, but truly teach the way of God.

Is it lawful for us to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?”
23 Noneno obadho mane gichikone to nowachonegi niya,
But he perceived their craftiness, and said to them, “Why do you test me?
24 “Tangʼnauru pesa ma un-go. Kido kod nying man kuome gin mag ngʼa?” Negidwoko niya, “Mag Kaisar.”
Show me a denarius. Whose image and inscription are on it?” They answered, “Caesar’s.”
25 Nowachonegi niya, “Udwoko kare, koro miuru Kaisar gige Kaisar, to miuru Nyasaye gige Nyasaye.”
He said to them, “Then give to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”
26 Ne ok ginyal make kuom gima nosewacho kanyo e nyim ji kendo ka giwuoro dwokone, negilingʼ thi.
They weren’t able to trap him in his words before the people. They marvelled at his answer and were silent.
27 Jo-Sadukai moko, mawacho ni chier onge, nobiro ir Yesu kod penjo moro.
Some of the Sadducees came to him, those who deny that there is a resurrection.
28 Negipenje niya, “Japuonj, Musa nondikonwa ni ka ngʼato owadgi otho moweyo dhako ma pod onge gi nyithindo, to ngʼatno nyaka kend dhako ma chwore othono mondo onywolnego nyithindo.
They asked him, “Teacher, Moses wrote to us that if a man’s brother dies having a wife, and he is childless, his brother should take the wife and raise up children for his brother.
29 Koro ne nitie owete moko abiriyo. Wuowi makayo nokendo dhako, to notho ka ok onywolo nyathi.
There were therefore seven brothers. The first took a wife, and died childless.
30 Wuowi mar ariyo
The second took her as wife, and he died childless.
31 kendo bangʼe wuowi mar adek ne jokende, to machalre kamano nyaka wuowi mar abiriyo notho, ma ok ginywolo nyithindo.
The third took her, and likewise the seven all left no children, and died.
32 Gikone, dhakoni bende notho.
Afterward the woman also died.
33 Koro, chiengʼ chier dhakoni nobed chi ngʼa, nimar ji abiriyogo nokende?”
Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them will she be? For the seven had her as a wife.”
34 Yesu nodwoko niya, “Ji manie piny e kindeni nyombo kendo inyuomo. (aiōn g165)
Jesus said to them, “The children of this age marry and are given in marriage. (aiōn g165)
35 To jogo mowal ni owinjore mondo obed e piny mar tiengʼ mabiro bangʼ chier aa kuom joma otho ok nokendi kata nokendgi ngangʼ, (aiōn g165)
But those who are considered worthy to attain to that age and the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage. (aiōn g165)
36 to bende ok ginitho kendo ngangʼ, nimar gichalo gi malaike. Gin nyithind Nyasaye, nikech gin nyithind chierno.
For they can’t die any more, for they are like the angels and are children of God, being children of the resurrection.
37 To kuom bungu maliel, Musa nonyiso bende ni joma otho chier, nimar oluongo Ruoth Nyasaye ni, ‘Nyasach Ibrahim, kendo Nyasach Isaka kod Nyasach Jakobo.’
But that the dead are raised, even Moses showed at the bush, when he called the Lord ‘The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’
38 Ok en Nyasach joma otho, to mar joma ngima, nikech kuome ji duto ngima.”
Now he is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for all are alive to him.”
39 Jopuonj chik moko nodwoko niya, “Iwacho maber, japuonj.”
Some of the scribes answered, “Teacher, you speak well.”
40 Omiyo onge ngʼato kata achiel manohedhore penje penjo moro kendo.
They didn’t dare to ask him any more questions.
41 Eka Yesu nowachonegi niya, “Ere kaka giwacho ni Kristo en Wuod Daudi?
He said to them, “Why do they say that the Christ is David’s son?
42 Daudi owuon wacho maler e Kitabu mar Zaburi niya, “‘Ruoth Nyasaye nowachone Ruodha ni, “Bed e bada korachwich,
David himself says in the book of Psalms, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand,
43 nyaka aket wasiki e bwo tiendi.”’
until I make your enemies the footstool of your feet.”’
44 Daudi luonge ni ‘Ruoth.’ Ere kaka onyalo bedo wuode kendo?”
“David therefore calls him Lord, so how is he his son?”
45 Kane ji duto winjo, Yesu nowachone jopuonjrene niya,
In the hearing of all the people, he said to his disciples,
46 “Beduru motangʼ ni jopuonj chik. Gihero wuotho koni gi koni ka girwako lewni maboyo mayware piny kendo gihero ni omosgi e chirni kendo gihero bedo e kombe moyiedhi manie sinagoke kod kuonde ma imiyoe ji duongʼ e sewni.
“Beware of those scribes who like to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the marketplaces, the best seats in the synagogues, and the best places at feasts;
47 Giyako ute mon ma chwogi otho kendo gilamo lamo moyware mondo ginyisrego ni ji kaka gilony e lamo. Joma kamagi ibiro kum malit moloyo.”
who devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayers. These will receive greater condemnation.”
