1 ⲁ̅ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲇⲉ ϩⲛ ⲛⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲁϥⲉⲓ ⲛϭⲓ ⲓⲱϩⲁⲛⲛⲏⲥ ⲡⲃⲁⲡⲧⲓⲥⲧⲏⲥ ⲉϥⲧⲁϣⲉⲟⲉⲓϣ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ϩⲙ ⲡϫⲁⲓⲉ ⲛϯⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓⲁ
In those days, Yochanan the Immerser came, proclaiming in the wilderness of Judea, saying,
2 ⲃ̅ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲙⲉⲧⲁⲛⲟⲓ ⲁⲥϩⲱⲛ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲛϭⲓ ⲧⲙⲛⲧⲣⲣⲟ ⲛⲙⲡⲏⲩⲉ
“Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!”
3 ⲅ̅ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩϫⲟⲟϥ ϩⲓⲧⲛ ⲏⲥⲁⲓⲁⲥ ⲡⲉⲡⲣⲟⲫⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲧⲉⲥⲙⲏ ⲙⲡⲉⲧⲱϣ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓ ⲡϫⲁⲓⲉ ϫⲉ ⲥⲃⲧⲉ ⲧⲉϩⲓⲏ ⲙⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲥⲟⲟⲩⲧⲛ ⲛⲛⲉϥⲙⲁ ⲛⲙⲟⲟϣⲉ
For this is he who was spoken of by Isaiah the prophet, saying, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness, make the way of the Lord ready! Make his paths straight!”
4 ⲇ̅ ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲓⲱϩⲁⲛⲛⲏⲥ ⲛⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉϥϩⲃⲥⲱ ϣⲟⲟⲡ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ϩⲉⲛⲃⲱ ⲛϭⲁⲙⲟⲩⲗ ⲉⲣⲉⲟⲩⲙⲟϫϩ ⲛϣⲁⲁⲣ ϭⲟⲟⲗⲉ ⲉⲧⲉϥϯⲡⲉ ⲧⲉϥϩⲣⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉϩⲉⲛϣϫⲉ ⲛⲉ ⲙⲛⲟⲩⲉⲃⲓⲉ ϩⲟⲟⲩⲧ
Now Yochanan himself wore clothing made of camel’s hair with a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey.
5 ⲉ̅ ⲧⲟⲧⲉ ⲛⲉⲥⲛⲏⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲉⲣⲁⲧϥ ⲛϭⲓ ⲑⲓⲉⲣⲟⲥⲟⲗⲩⲙⲁ ⲧⲏⲣⲥ ⲙⲛ ϯⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓⲁ ⲙⲛ ⲧⲡⲉⲣⲓⲭⲱⲣⲟⲥ ⲧⲏⲣⲥ ⲙⲡⲉⲓⲟⲣⲇⲁⲛⲏⲥ
Then people from Jerusalem, all of Judea, and all the region around the Jordan went out to him.
6 ⲋ̅ ⲉⲩϫⲓ ⲃⲁⲡⲧⲓⲥⲙⲁ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲟⲟⲧϥ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲓⲟⲣⲇⲁⲛⲏⲥ ⲡⲉⲓⲉⲣⲟ ⲉⲩⲉⲝⲟⲙⲟⲗⲟⲅⲉⲓ ⲛⲛⲉⲩⲛⲟⲃⲉ
They were immersed by him in the Jordan, confessing their sins.
7 ⲍ̅ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥⲛⲁⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲉϩⲁϩ ϩⲛ ⲛⲉⲫⲁⲣⲓⲥⲥⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲥⲁⲇⲇⲟⲩⲕⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲉⲩⲛⲏⲩ ⲉϫⲙ ⲡⲃⲁⲡⲧⲓⲥⲙⲁ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲛⲉϫⲡⲟ ⲛⲛⲉϩⲃⲟⲩⲓ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲧⲥⲁⲃⲉ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲉⲡⲱⲧ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲏⲧⲥ ⲛⲧⲟⲣⲅⲏ ⲉⲧⲛⲏⲩ
But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming for his immersion, he said to them, “You offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
8 ⲏ̅ ⲁⲣⲓⲣⲉ ϭⲉ ⲛⲟⲩⲕⲁⲣⲡⲟⲥ ⲉϥⲙⲡϣⲁ ⲛⲧⲙⲉⲧⲁⲛⲟⲓⲁ
Therefore produce fruit worthy of repentance!
9 ⲑ̅ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲧⲙⲙⲉⲉⲩⲉ ⲉϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲛⲧⲁⲛ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲙⲡⲉⲛⲉⲓⲱⲧ ⲁⲃⲣⲁϩⲁⲙ ϯϫⲱ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲛϭⲟⲙ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲛⲉⲥ ϩⲉⲛϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲛⲁⲃⲣⲁϩⲁⲙ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲛⲉⲓⲱⲛⲉ
Don’t think to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham for our father,’ for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.
10 ⲓ̅ ϫⲓⲛ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲕⲉⲗⲉⲃⲓⲛ ⲕⲏ ϩⲁ ⲧⲛⲟⲩⲛⲉ ⲛⲛϣⲏⲛ ϣⲏⲛ ϭⲉ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧⲉⲛϥⲛⲁⲉⲓⲣⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲛⲟⲩⲕⲁⲣⲡⲟⲥ ⲉⲛⲁⲛⲟⲩϥ ⲥⲉⲛⲁⲕⲟⲟⲣⲉϥ ⲛⲥⲉⲛⲟϫϥ ⲉⲧⲥⲁⲧⲉ
Even now the axe lies at the root of the trees. Therefore every tree that doesn’t produce good fruit is cut down, and cast into the fire.
11 ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲙⲉⲛ ⲉⲓⲃⲁⲡⲧⲓⲍⲉ ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲛ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲩⲙⲉⲧⲁⲛⲟⲓⲁ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲏⲩ ⲇⲉ ϥϫⲟⲟⲣ ⲉⲣⲟⲓ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲛϯⲙⲡϣⲁ ⲁⲛ ⲛϥⲓ ϩⲁ ⲡⲉϥⲧⲟⲟⲩⲉ ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁⲃⲁⲡⲧⲓⲍⲉ ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲛ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲡⲛⲁ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲁⲁⲃ ⲙⲛⲟⲩⲥⲁⲧⲉ
“I indeed immerse you in water for repentance, but he who comes after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will immerse you in the Holy Spirit.
12 ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲉⲣⲉⲡⲉϥϩⲁ ϩⲛ ⲧⲉϥϭⲓϫ ⲉϥⲛⲁⲧⲃⲃⲟ ⲙⲡⲉϥϫⲛⲟⲟⲩ ⲛϥⲥⲱⲟⲩϩ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲙⲡⲉϥⲥⲟⲩⲟ ⲉⲧⲁⲡⲟⲑⲏⲕⲏ ⲡⲧⲱϩ ⲇⲉ ⲛϥⲣⲟⲕϩϥ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲥⲁⲧⲉ ⲉⲙⲉⲥⲱϣⲙ
His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing floor. He will gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire.”
13 ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ ⲧⲟⲧⲉ ⲁϥⲉⲓ ⲛϭⲓ ⲓⲏⲥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲧⲅⲁⲗⲓⲗⲁⲓⲁ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉϫⲙ ⲡⲓⲟⲣⲇⲁⲛⲏⲥ ϣⲁⲓⲱϩⲁⲛⲛⲏⲥ ⲉⲧⲣⲉϥⲃⲁⲡⲧⲓⲍⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲟⲟⲧϥ
Then Yeshua came from Galilee to the Jordan to Yochanan, to be immersed by him.
14 ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥⲕⲱⲗⲩ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲉⲧⲣⲭⲣⲓⲁ ⲛⲃⲁⲡⲧⲓⲍⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓ ⲧⲟⲟⲧⲕ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲧⲟⲕ ⲉⲧⲛⲏⲩ ϣⲁⲣⲟⲓ
But Yochanan would have hindered him, saying, “I need to be immersed by you, and you come to me?”
15 ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ ⲁⲩⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ ⲇⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ⲓⲏⲥ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ϭⲱ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⲧⲁⲓ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲧⲉ ⲑⲉ ⲉⲧⲉϣϣⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲛ ⲉϫⲱⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛⲇⲓⲕⲁⲓⲟⲥⲩⲛⲏ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲧⲟⲧⲉ ⲁϥⲕⲁⲁϥ
But Yeshua, answering, said to him, “Allow it now, for this is the fitting way for us to fulfil all righteousness.” Then he allowed him.
16 ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥⲃⲁⲡⲧⲓⲍⲉ ϭⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ⲓⲏⲥ ⲛⲧⲉⲩⲛⲟⲩ ⲁϥⲉⲓ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ϩⲙ ⲡⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲓⲥ ϩⲏⲏⲧⲉ ⲁⲩⲟⲩⲱⲛ ⲛϭⲓ ⲙⲡⲏⲩⲉ ⲁϥⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲡⲉⲡⲛⲁ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉϥⲛⲏⲩ ⲉⲡⲉⲥⲏⲧ ⲛⲑⲉ ⲛⲟⲩϭⲣⲟⲟⲙⲡⲉ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉϫⲱϥ
Yeshua, when he was immersed, went up directly from the water: and behold, the heavens were opened to him. He saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming on him.
17 ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲓⲥ ϩⲏⲏⲧⲉ ⲉⲓⲥ ⲟⲩⲥⲙⲏ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲙⲡⲏⲩⲉ ⲉⲥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲁϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲡⲁⲙⲉⲣⲓⲧ ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁⲡⲁⲟⲩⲱϣ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲛϩⲏⲧϥ
Behold, a voice out of the heavens said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”
