1 ⲁ̅ ⲓⲏⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲟⲩϫⲡⲟϥ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ϩⲛ ⲃⲏⲑⲗⲉⲉⲙ ⲛⲧⲉ ϯⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓⲁ ϩⲛ ⲛⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲛϩⲏⲣⲱⲇⲏⲥ ⲡⲣⲣⲟ ⲉⲓⲥ ϩⲉⲛⲙⲁⲅⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲉⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲛⲉⲙⲁⲛϣⲁ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉⲑⲓⲉⲣⲟⲥⲟⲗⲩⲙⲁ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ
Now when Yeshua was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of King Herod, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying,
2 ⲃ̅ ϫⲉ ⲉϥⲧⲱⲛ ⲡⲣⲣⲟ ⲛⲛⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ⲛⲧⲁⲩϫⲡⲟϥ ⲁⲛⲛⲁⲩ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉⲡⲉϥⲥⲓⲟⲩ ϩⲛ ⲛⲉⲙⲁⲛϣⲁ ⲁⲛⲉⲓ ⲉⲟⲩⲱϣⲧ ⲛⲁϥ
“Where is he who is born King of the Jews? For we saw his star in the east, and have come to worship him.”
3 ⲅ̅ ⲁϥⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲇⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ϩⲏⲣⲱⲇⲏⲥ ⲡⲣⲣⲟ ⲁϥϣⲧⲟⲣⲧⲣ ⲉⲙⲁⲧⲉ ⲙⲛ ⲑⲓⲉⲣⲟⲥⲟⲗⲩⲙⲁ ⲧⲏⲣⲥ ⲛⲙⲙⲁϥ
When King Herod heard it, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
4 ⲇ̅ ⲁϥⲥⲱⲟⲩϩ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲛⲛⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲅⲣⲁⲙⲙⲁⲧⲉⲩⲥ ⲙⲡⲗⲁⲟⲥ ⲁϥϣⲓⲛⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲟⲟⲧⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ⲉⲩⲛⲁϫⲡⲟ ⲙⲡⲉⲭⲥ ⲧⲱⲛ
Gathering together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he asked them where the Messiah would be born.
5 ⲉ̅ ⲛⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ϩⲛ ⲃⲏⲑⲗⲉⲉⲙ ⲛⲧⲉϯⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓⲁ ⲉϥⲥⲏϩ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲛⲧⲉⲓϩⲉ ϩⲓⲧⲙ ⲡⲉⲡⲣⲟⲫⲏⲧⲏⲥ
They said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for this is written through the prophet,
6 ⲋ̅ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲟ ϩⲱⲱⲧⲉ ⲃⲏⲑⲗⲉⲉⲙ ⲡⲕⲁϩ ⲛⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁ ⲛⲧⲉϫⲟⲗϩ ⲁⲛ ϩⲛ ⲛϩⲏⲅⲉⲙⲱⲛ ⲛⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁ ϥⲛⲏⲩ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ⲟⲩϩⲏⲅⲟⲩⲙⲉⲛⲟⲥ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲛⲁⲙⲟⲟⲛⲉ ⲙⲡⲁⲗⲁⲟⲥ ⲡⲓⲥⲣⲁⲏⲗ
‘You Bethlehem, land of Judah, are in no way least amongst the princes of Judah; for out of you shall come a governor who shall shepherd my people, Israel.’”
7 ⲍ̅ ⲧⲟⲧⲉ ϩⲏⲣⲱⲇⲏⲥ ⲁϥⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲙⲙⲁⲅⲟⲥ ⲛϫⲓⲟⲩⲉ ⲁϥϣⲓⲛⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲟⲟⲧⲟⲩ ⲛⲥⲁⲡⲉⲩⲟⲉⲓϣ ⲙⲡⲥⲓⲟⲩ ⲛⲧⲁϥⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ
Then Herod secretly called the wise men, and learnt from them exactly what time the star appeared.
8 ⲏ̅ ⲁϥϫⲟⲟⲥⲉ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉⲃⲏⲑⲗⲉⲉⲙ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲃⲱⲕ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛϣⲓⲛⲉ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲱⲣϫ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ϣⲏⲙ ⲉϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛϣⲁⲛϩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲙⲁⲧⲁⲙⲙⲟⲓ ϩⲱ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲓⲉⲉⲓ ⲛⲧⲁⲟⲩⲱϣⲧ ⲛⲁϥ
He sent them to Bethlehem, and said, “Go and search diligently for the young child. When you have found him, bring me word, so that I also may come and worship him.”
9 ⲑ̅ ⲛⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲟⲩⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲙ ⲡⲣⲣⲟ ⲁⲩⲃⲱⲕ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲓⲥ ⲡⲥⲓⲟⲩ ⲛⲧⲁⲩⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ϩⲛ ⲛⲉⲙⲁⲛϣⲁ ⲁϥⲙⲟⲟϣⲉ ϩⲏⲧⲟⲩ ϣⲁⲛⲧⲉϥⲉⲓ ⲛϥⲁϩⲉⲣⲁⲧϥ ⲉϫⲙ ⲡⲙⲁ ⲉⲛⲉⲣⲉⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ϣⲏⲙ ⲛϩⲏⲧϥ
They, having heard the king, went their way; and behold, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them until it came and stood over where the young child was.
10 ⲓ̅ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲟⲩⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲡⲥⲓⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲣⲁϣⲉ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲛⲟϭ ⲛⲣⲁϣⲉ ⲉⲙⲁⲧⲉ
When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy.
11 ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲟⲩⲉⲓ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉⲡⲏⲓ ⲁⲩⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ϣⲏⲙ ⲙⲛ ⲙⲁⲣⲓⲁ ⲧⲉϥⲙⲁⲁⲩ ⲁⲩⲡⲁϩⲧⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲟⲩⲱϣⲧ ⲛⲁϥ ⲁⲩⲟⲩⲱⲛ ⲛⲛⲉⲩⲁϩⲱⲱⲣ ⲁⲩⲉⲓⲛⲉ ⲛⲁϥ ⲛϩⲉⲛⲇⲱⲣⲟⲛ ⲟⲩⲛⲟⲩⲃ ⲙⲛ ⲟⲩⲗⲓⲃⲁⲛⲟⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲟⲩϣⲁⲗ
They came into the house and saw the young child with Miriam, his mother, and they fell down and worshipped him. Opening their treasures, they offered to him gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
12 ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ ⲁⲩⲧⲟⲩⲛⲉⲓⲁⲧⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲣⲁⲥⲟⲩ ⲉⲧⲙⲕⲟⲧⲟⲩ ϣⲁϩⲏⲣⲱⲇⲏⲥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲛ ⲕⲉϩⲓⲏ ⲁⲩⲁⲛⲁⲭⲱⲣⲉⲓ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲉⲩⲭⲟⲣⲁ
Being warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they went back to their own country another way.
13 ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲟⲩⲃⲱⲕ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲓⲥ ⲡⲁⲅⲅⲉⲗⲟⲥ ⲙⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲣⲁⲥⲟⲩ ⲉⲓⲱⲥⲏⲫ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛ ⲛⲅϫⲓ ⲙⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ϣⲏⲙ ⲙⲛ ⲧⲉϥⲙⲁⲁⲩ ⲛⲅⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉⲕⲏⲙⲉ ⲛⲅϣⲱⲡⲉ ϩⲙ ⲡⲙⲁ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ϣⲁⲛϯϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲕ ϩⲏⲣⲱⲇⲏⲥ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲛⲁϣⲓⲛⲉ ⲛⲥⲁⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ϣⲏⲙ ⲉⲧⲁⲕⲟϥ
Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Arise and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and stay there until I tell you, for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.”
14 ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛ ⲁϥϫⲓ ⲙⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ϣⲏⲙ ⲙⲛ ⲧⲉϥⲙⲁⲁⲩ ⲛⲧⲉⲩϣⲏ ⲁϥⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉⲕⲏⲙⲉ
He arose and took the young child and his mother by night and departed into Egypt,
15 ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ ⲛⲉϥϣⲟⲟⲡ ⲇⲉ ϩⲙ ⲡⲙⲁ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ϣⲁⲛⲧⲉϩⲏⲣⲱⲇⲏⲥ ⲙⲟⲩ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉϥⲉϫⲱⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ϫⲟⲟϥ ϩⲓⲧⲙ ⲡⲉⲡⲣⲟⲫⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲁⲓⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲡⲁϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲕⲏⲙⲉ
and was there until the death of Herod, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, “Out of Egypt I called my son.”
16 ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ ⲧⲟⲧⲉ ϩⲏⲣⲱⲇⲏⲥ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲁⲩⲥⲱⲃⲉ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲛ ⲙⲙⲁⲅⲟⲥ ⲁϥϭⲱⲛⲧ ⲉⲙⲁⲧⲉ ⲁϥϫⲟⲟⲩ ⲁϥⲙⲟⲩⲟⲩⲧ ⲛϣⲏⲣⲉ ϣⲏⲙ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧϩⲛ ⲃⲏⲑⲗⲉⲉⲙ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲧϣⲟⲟⲡ ϩⲛ ⲛⲉⲥⲧⲟϣ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ϫⲓⲛⲣⲙⲡⲉ ⲥⲛⲧⲉ ⲉⲡⲉⲥⲏⲧ ⲕⲁⲧⲁⲡⲉⲩⲟⲉⲓϣ ⲛⲧⲁⲩϩⲉⲧϩⲱⲧϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲟⲟⲧⲟⲩ ⲛⲙⲙⲁⲅⲟⲥ
Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked by the wise men, was exceedingly angry, and sent out and killed all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all the surrounding countryside, from two years old and under, according to the exact time which he had learnt from the wise men.
17 ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ ⲧⲟⲧⲉ ⲁϥϫⲱⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩϫⲟⲟϥ ϩⲓⲧⲛ ⲓⲉⲣⲏⲙⲓⲁⲥ ⲡⲉⲡⲣⲟⲫⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ
Then that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled, saying,
18 ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲥⲙⲏ ⲁⲩⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲉⲣⲟⲥ ϩⲛ ϩⲣⲁⲙⲙⲁ ⲟⲩⲣⲓⲙⲉ ⲙⲛⲟⲩⲧⲟⲉⲓⲧ ⲉⲛⲁϣⲱϥ ϩⲣⲁⲭⲏⲗ ⲉⲥⲣⲓⲙⲉ ⲉⲛⲉⲥϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙⲡⲉⲥⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲉⲥⲗⲥⲱⲗⲥ ϫⲉ ⲛⲛⲟⲩⲥ ⲁⲛ ⲛⲉ
“A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children; she wouldn’t be comforted, because they are no more.”
19 ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥⲙⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ϩⲏⲣⲱⲇⲏⲥ ⲉⲓⲥ ⲡⲁⲅⲅⲉⲗⲟⲥ ⲙⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲣⲁⲥⲟⲩ ⲉⲓⲱⲥⲏⲫ ϩⲛ ⲕⲏⲙⲉ
But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, saying,
20 ⲕ̅ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛ ⲛⲅϫⲓ ⲙⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ϣⲏⲙ ⲙⲛ ⲧⲉϥⲙⲁⲁⲩ ⲛⲅⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉⲡⲕⲁϩ ⲙⲡⲓⲥⲣⲁⲏⲗ ⲁⲩⲙⲟⲩ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲛϭⲓ ⲛⲉⲧϣⲓⲛⲉ ⲛⲥⲁⲧⲉⲯⲩⲭⲏ ⲙⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ϣⲏⲙ
“Arise and take the young child and his mother, and go into Eretz-Israel, for those who sought the young child’s life are dead.”
21 ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛ ⲁϥϫⲓ ⲙⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ϣⲏⲙ ⲙⲛ ⲧⲉϥⲙⲁⲁⲩ ⲁϥⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉⲡⲕⲁϩ ⲙⲡⲓⲥⲣⲁⲏⲗ
He arose and took the young child and his mother, and came into Eretz-Israel.
22 ⲕ̅ⲃ̅ ⲁϥⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲇⲉ ϫⲉ ⲁⲣⲭⲏⲗⲁⲟⲥ ⲡⲉⲧⲟ ⲛⲣⲣⲟ ⲉϫⲛ ϯⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓⲁ ⲉⲡⲙⲁ ⲛϩⲏⲣⲱⲇⲏⲥ ⲡⲉϥⲉⲓⲱⲧ ⲁϥⲣ ϩⲟⲧⲉ ⲉⲃⲱⲕ ⲉⲡⲙⲁ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲁⲩⲧⲟⲩⲛⲉⲓⲁⲧϥ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲣⲁⲥⲟⲩ ⲁϥⲁⲛⲁⲭⲱⲣⲉⲓ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉⲙⲙⲟⲟϣⲧⲉ ⲛⲧⲅⲁⲗⲓⲗⲁⲓⲁ
But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea in the place of his father, Herod, he was afraid to go there. Being warned in a dream, he withdrew into the region of Galilee,
23 ⲕ̅ⲅ̅ ⲁϥⲉⲓ ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱϩ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲡⲟⲗⲓⲥ ⲛϣⲁⲩⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲛⲁⲍⲁⲣⲉⲑ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉϥⲉϫⲱⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩϫⲟⲟϥ ϩⲓⲧⲙ ⲡⲉⲡⲣⲟⲫⲏⲧⲏⲥ ϫⲉ ⲥⲉⲛⲁⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲛⲁⲍⲱⲣⲁⲓⲟⲥ
and came and lived in a city called Nazareth; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophets that he will be called a Nazarene.
