1 ⲁ̅ ⲛⲉⲩⲛ ⲟⲩⲁ ⲇⲉ ϣⲱⲛⲉ ϫⲉ ⲗⲁⲍⲁⲣⲟⲥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲃⲏⲑⲁⲛⲓⲁ ⲡϯⲙⲉ ⲙⲙⲁⲣⲓⲁ ⲙⲛ ⲙⲁⲣⲑⲁ ⲧⲉⲥⲥⲱⲛⲉ
Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus from Bethany, of the village of Miriam and her sister, Martha.
2 ⲃ̅ ⲧⲁⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲧⲉ ⲙⲁⲣⲓⲁ ⲧⲉⲛⲧⲁⲥⲧⲉϩⲥ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲛⲥⲟϭⲛ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲥϥⲉⲧ ⲛⲉϥⲟⲩⲉⲣⲏⲧⲉ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲥϥⲱ ⲧⲁⲓ ⲉⲛⲉⲣⲉⲡⲉⲥⲥⲟⲛ ⲗⲁⲍⲁⲣⲟⲥ ϣⲱⲛⲉ
It was that Miriam who had anointed the Lord with ointment and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.
3 ⲅ̅ ⲁⲩϫⲟⲟⲩ ϭⲉ ϣⲁⲣⲟϥ ⲛϭⲓ ⲛⲉϥⲥⲱⲛⲉ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲉⲓⲥ ϩⲏⲏⲡⲉ ϥϣⲱⲛⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡⲉⲧⲕⲙⲉ ⲙⲙⲟϥ
The sisters therefore sent to him, saying, “Lord, behold, he for whom you have great affection is sick.”
4 ⲇ̅ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲇⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ⲓⲥ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲓϣⲱⲛⲉ ⲛⲛⲉϥϣⲟⲟⲡ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲡⲙⲟⲩ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲉⲟⲟⲩ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲣⲉⲡⲉϥϣⲏⲣⲉ ϫⲓ ⲉⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲟⲟⲧϥ
But when Yeshua heard it, he said, “This sickness is not to death, but for the glory of God, that God’s Son may be glorified by it.”
5 ⲉ̅ ⲛⲉⲣⲉⲓⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲉ ⲙⲙⲁⲣⲑⲁ ⲙⲛ ⲙⲁⲣⲓⲁ ⲧⲉⲥⲥⲱⲛⲉ ⲙⲛ ⲗⲁⲍⲁⲣⲟⲥ
Now Yeshua loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.
6 ⲋ̅ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥⲥⲱⲧⲙ ϭⲉ ϫⲉ ϥϣⲱⲛⲉ ⲧⲟⲧⲉ ⲁϥϭⲱ ⲛϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲥⲛⲁⲩ ϩⲙ ⲡⲙⲁ ⲉⲛⲉϥⲛϩⲏⲧϥ
When therefore he heard that he was sick, he stayed two days in the place where he was.
7 ⲍ̅ ⲙⲛⲛⲥⲱⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲛⲉϥⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ϫⲉ ⲙⲁⲣⲟⲛ ⲟⲛ ⲉϯⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓⲁ
Then after this he said to the disciples, “Let’s go into Judea again.”
8 ⲏ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ⲛⲁϥ ⲛϭⲓ ⲙⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ϫⲉ ϩⲣⲁⲃⲃⲉⲓ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲣⲉⲛⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ϣⲓⲛⲉ ⲛⲥⲁ ϩⲓ ⲱⲛⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲕ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲟⲛ ⲕⲛⲁⲃⲱⲕ ⲉⲙⲁⲩ
The disciples asked him, “Rabbi, the Judeans were just trying to stone you. Are you going there again?”
9 ⲑ̅ ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ ⲛϭⲓ ⲓⲥ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲙⲏ ⲙⲛ ⲙⲛⲧⲥⲛⲟⲟⲩⲥ ⲛⲟⲩⲛⲟⲩ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲣϣⲁ ⲟⲩⲁ ⲙⲟⲟϣⲉ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲙⲉϥϫⲓϫⲣⲟⲡ ϫⲉ ϥⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲡⲟⲩⲟⲓⲛ ⲙⲡⲉⲓⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ
Yeshua answered, “Aren’t there twelve hours of daylight? If a man walks in the day, he doesn’t stumble, because he sees the light of this world.
10 ⲓ̅ ⲉⲣϣⲁ ⲟⲩⲁ ⲙⲟⲟϣⲉ ϩⲛ ⲧⲉⲩϣⲏ ϣⲁϥϫⲓ ϫⲣⲟⲡ ϫⲉ ⲙⲡⲟⲩⲟⲓⲛ ϣⲟⲟⲡ ⲁⲛ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲛϩⲏⲧϥ
But if a man walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light isn’t in him.”
11 ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲁϥϫⲟⲟⲩ ⲙⲛⲛⲥⲱⲥ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲗⲁⲍⲁⲣⲟⲥ ⲡⲉⲛϣⲃⲏⲣ ⲁϥⲛⲕⲟⲧⲕ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ϯⲛⲁⲃⲱⲕ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲉⲓⲉⲧⲟⲩⲛⲟⲥϥ
He said these things, and after that, he said to them, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I am going so that I may awake him out of sleep.”
12 ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ϭⲉ ⲛⲁϥ ⲛϭⲓ ⲙⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲉϣϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲁϥⲛⲕⲟⲧⲕ ϥⲛⲁⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛ
The disciples therefore said, “Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover.”
13 ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ ⲛⲧⲁⲓⲥ ⲇⲉ ϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲡⲉ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲉϥⲙⲟⲩ ⲛⲏ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲩⲙⲉⲩⲉ ϫⲉ ⲉϥϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲛⲕⲟⲧⲕ ⲙⲡⲱⲃϣ
Now Yeshua had spoken of his death, but they thought that he spoke of taking rest in sleep.
14 ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ ⲧⲟⲧⲉ ϭⲉ ⲁⲓⲥ ϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲡⲁⲣⲣⲏⲥⲓⲁ ϫⲉ ⲗⲁⲍⲁⲣⲟⲥ ⲁϥⲙⲟⲩ
So Yeshua said to them plainly then, “Lazarus is dead.
15 ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ϯⲣⲁϣⲉ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲉⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ϫⲉ ⲛⲉⲓⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲙⲁⲣⲟⲛ ϣⲁⲣⲟϥ
I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, so that you may believe. Nevertheless, let’s go to him.”
16 ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲉ ⲑⲱⲙⲁⲥ ⲡⲉϣⲁⲩⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ϫⲉ ⲇⲓⲇⲩⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲛⲉϥϣⲃⲣ ⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ϫⲉ ⲙⲁⲣⲟⲛ ϩⲱⲱⲛ ϫⲉ ⲉⲛⲉⲙⲟⲩ ⲛⲙⲙⲁϥ
Thomas therefore, who is called Didymus, said to his fellow disciples, “Let’s also go, that we may die with him.”
17 ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥⲉⲓ ϭⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ⲓⲥ ⲁϥϩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲉⲡⲉϥϥⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲡⲉ ⲉϥϩⲙ ⲡⲧⲁⲫⲟⲥ
So when Yeshua came, he found that he had been in the tomb four days already.
18 ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ ⲃⲏⲑⲁⲛⲓⲁ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉⲥϩⲏⲛ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲑⲓⲉⲣⲟⲩⲥⲁⲗⲏⲙ ⲛⲁⲙⲛⲧⲏ ⲛⲥⲧⲁⲇⲓⲟⲛ
Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about fifteen stadia away.
19 ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ ⲟⲩⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ⲛⲉⲁⲩⲉⲓ ⲡⲉ ϣⲁ ⲙⲁⲣⲑⲁ ⲙⲛ ⲙⲁⲣⲓⲁ ϫⲉ ⲉⲩⲉⲥⲗⲥⲱⲗⲟⲩ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲉⲩⲥⲟⲛ
Many of the Judeans had joined the women around Martha and Miriam, to console them concerning their brother.
20 ⲕ̅ ⲙⲁⲣⲑⲁ ϭⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉⲥⲥⲱⲧⲙ ϫⲉ ⲓⲥ ⲛⲏⲩ ⲁⲥⲉⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲏⲧϥ ⲙⲁⲣⲓⲁ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉⲥϩⲙⲟⲟⲥ ⲡⲉ ϩⲙ ⲡⲏⲉⲓ
Then when Martha heard that Yeshua was coming, she went and met him, but Miriam stayed in the house.
21 ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲉ ⲙⲁⲣⲑⲁ ϭⲉ ⲛⲓⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲉⲛⲉⲕⲙⲡⲉⲓⲙⲁ ⲛⲉⲣⲉⲡⲁⲥⲟⲛ ⲛⲁⲙⲟⲩ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ
Therefore Martha said to Yeshua, “Lord, if you would have been here, my brother wouldn’t have died.
22 ⲕ̅ⲃ̅ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⲟⲛ ϯⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ϫⲉ ϩⲱⲃ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧⲕⲛⲁⲁⲓⲧⲓ ⲙⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲧⲙ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲛⲁⲧⲁⲁⲩ ⲛⲁⲕ
Even now I know that whatever you ask of God, God will give you.”
23 ⲕ̅ⲅ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲉ ⲓⲥ ⲛⲁⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲟⲩⲥⲟⲛ ⲛⲁⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛϥ
Yeshua said to her, “Your brother will rise again.”
24 ⲕ̅ⲇ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲉ ⲙⲁⲣⲑⲁ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ϯⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲇⲉ ϥⲛⲁⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛ ϩⲛ ⲧⲁⲛⲁⲥⲧⲁⲥⲓⲥ ϩⲙ ⲡϩⲁⲉ ⲛϩⲟⲟⲩ
Martha said to him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”
25 ⲕ̅ⲉ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲉ ⲓⲥ ⲛⲁⲥ ϫⲉ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ ⲧⲁⲛⲁⲥⲧⲁⲥⲓⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲱⲛϩ ⲡⲉⲧⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲉⲓ ⲕⲁⲛ ⲉϥϣⲁⲛⲙⲟⲩ ϥⲛⲁⲱⲛϩ
Yeshua said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will still live, even if he dies.
26 ⲕ̅ⲋ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧⲟⲛϩ ⲉⲧⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲉⲓ ⲛϥⲛⲁⲙⲟⲩ ⲁⲛ ϣⲁ ⲉⲛⲉϩ ⲧⲉⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲉⲡⲁⲓ (aiōn g165)
Whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” (aiōn g165)
27 ⲕ̅ⲍ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲥⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ϯⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ ⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲏⲩ ⲉⲡⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ
She said to him, “Yes, Lord. I have come to believe that you are the Messiah, God’s Son, he who comes into the world.”
28 ⲕ̅ⲏ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉⲥϫⲉ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲁⲥⲃⲱⲕ ⲁⲥⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲙⲁⲣⲓⲁ ⲧⲉⲥⲥⲱⲛⲉ ⲉⲥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲥ ⲛϫⲓⲟⲩⲉ ϫⲉ ⲁⲡⲥⲁϩ ⲉⲓ ⲁⲩⲱ ϥⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲟ
When she had said this, she went away and called Miriam, her sister, secretly, saying, “The Rabbi is here and is calling you.”
29 ⲕ̅ⲑ̅ ⲛⲧⲟⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉⲥⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲁⲥⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛⲥ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩϭⲉⲡⲏ ⲁⲥⲉⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϣⲁⲣⲟϥ
When she heard this, she arose quickly and went to him.
30 ⲗ̅ ⲓⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉⲙⲡⲁⲧϥⲉⲓ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲡϯⲙⲉ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲉⲧⲓ ⲛⲉϥϩⲙ ⲡⲙⲁ ⲉⲛⲧⲁⲙⲁⲣⲑⲁ ⲧⲱⲙⲛⲧ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲛϩⲏⲧϥ
Now Yeshua had not yet come into the village, but was in the place where Martha met him.
31 ⲗ̅ⲁ̅ ⲛⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ϭⲉ ⲉⲧϩⲙ ⲡⲏⲓ ⲛⲙⲙⲁⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲧⲥⲟⲗⲥⲗ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲟⲩⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲙⲁⲣⲓⲁ ϫⲉ ⲁⲥⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛⲥ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩϭⲉⲡⲏ ⲁⲥⲉⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲁⲩⲟⲩⲁϩⲟⲩ ⲛⲥⲱⲥ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲉⲥⲛⲁⲃⲱⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲉⲡⲧⲁⲫⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲉⲥⲉⲣⲓⲙⲉ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ
Then the Judeans who were with her in the house and were consoling her, when they saw Miriam, that she rose up quickly and went out, followed her, saying, “She is going to the tomb to weep there.”
32 ⲗ̅ⲃ̅ ⲙⲁⲣⲓⲁ ϭⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉⲥⲉⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲉⲡⲙⲁ ⲉⲛⲉⲣⲉⲓⲥ ⲛϩⲏⲧϥ ⲁⲥⲛⲟϫⲥ ϩⲁ ⲛⲉϥⲟⲩⲉⲣⲏⲧⲉ ⲉⲥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲉⲛⲉⲕⲙⲡⲉⲉⲓⲙⲁ ⲛⲉⲣⲉⲡⲁⲥⲟⲛ ⲛⲁⲙⲟⲩ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ
Therefore when Miriam came to where Yeshua was and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying to him, “Lord, if you would have been here, my brother wouldn’t have died.”
33 ⲗ̅ⲅ̅ ⲓⲥ ϭⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲣⲟⲥ ⲉⲥⲣⲓⲙⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩⲉⲓ ⲛⲙⲙⲁⲥ ⲉⲩⲣⲓⲙⲉ ⲁϥϣⲧⲟⲣⲧⲣ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲡⲛⲁ ⲛⲑⲉ ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲟⲟⲧ
When Yeshua therefore saw her weeping, and the Judeans weeping who came with her, he groaned in the spirit and was troubled,
34 ⲗ̅ⲇ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛⲕⲁⲁϥ ⲧⲱⲛ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲁⲙⲟⲩ ⲛⲅⲛⲁⲩ
and said, “Where have you laid him?” They told him, “Lord, come and see.”
35 ⲗ̅ⲉ̅ ⲁϥⲣⲓⲙⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ⲓⲥ
Yeshua wept.
36 ⲗ̅ⲋ̅ ⲛⲉⲩϫⲱ ϭⲉ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛϭⲓ ⲛⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ϫⲉ ⲁⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲑⲉ ⲉⲧϥⲙⲉ ⲙⲙⲟϥ
The Judeans therefore said, “See how much affection he had for him!”
37 ⲗ̅ⲍ̅ ϩⲟⲓⲛⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲟⲩ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲟⲩⲱⲛ ⲛⲃⲃⲁⲗ ⲙⲡⲃⲗⲗⲉ ⲉⲓⲉ ⲛⲉⲙⲙⲛ ϭⲟⲙ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲟⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲉⲧⲙⲧⲣⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲙⲟⲩ
Some of them said, “Couldn’t this man, who opened the eyes of him who was blind, have also kept this man from dying?”
38 ⲗ̅ⲏ̅ ⲓⲥ ϭⲉ ⲟⲛ ⲉϥⲟⲟⲧ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲛϩⲏⲧϥ ⲁϥⲉⲓ ⲉⲡⲧⲁⲫⲟⲥ ⲛⲉⲟⲩⲥⲡⲏⲗⲁⲓⲟⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲉⲣⲉⲟⲩⲱⲛⲉ ϩⲓ ⲣⲱϥ
Yeshua therefore, again groaning in himself, came to the tomb. Now it was a cave, and a stone lay against it.
39 ⲗ̅ⲑ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲉ ⲓⲥ ϫⲉ ϥⲓ ⲡⲱⲛⲉ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲡⲉϫⲉ ⲙⲁⲣⲑⲁ ⲛⲁϥ ⲧⲥⲱⲛⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲙⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲏⲇⲏ ⲁϥⲣ ⲥⲧⲟⲓ ⲡⲉϥϥⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲡⲉ
Yeshua said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to him, “Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days.”
40 ⲙ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲉ ⲓⲥ ⲛⲁⲥ ϫⲉ ⲙⲡⲓϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲛⲉ ϫⲉ ⲉⲣϣⲁⲛⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲧⲉⲛⲁⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲡⲉⲟⲟⲩ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ
Yeshua said to her, “Didn’t I tell you that if you believed, you would see God’s glory?”
41 ⲙ̅ⲁ̅ ⲁⲩϥⲓ ⲡⲱⲛⲉ ϭⲉ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲓⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥϥⲓ ⲛⲉϥⲃⲁⲗ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲡⲉ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲓⲱⲧ ϯϣⲡϩⲙⲟⲧ ⲛⲧⲟⲟⲧⲕ ϫⲉ ⲁⲕⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲉⲣⲟⲉⲓ
So they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying. Yeshua lifted up his eyes and said, “Father, I thank you that you listened to me.
42 ⲙ̅ⲃ̅ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉⲓⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ϫⲉ ⲕⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲉⲣⲟⲉⲓ ⲛⲟⲩⲟⲓϣ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲛⲧⲁⲓϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲉⲧⲁϩⲉⲣⲁⲧϥ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲩⲉⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ ⲛⲧⲁⲕⲧⲛⲛⲟⲟⲩⲧ
I know that you always listen to me, but because of the multitude standing around I said this, that they may believe that you sent me.”
43 ⲙ̅ⲅ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥϫⲉ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲁϥⲁϣⲕⲁⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲛⲟϭ ⲛⲥⲙⲏ ϫⲉ ⲗⲁⲍⲁⲣⲉ ⲁⲙⲟⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ
When he had said this, he cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!”
44 ⲙ̅ⲇ̅ ⲁϥⲉⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲙⲟⲩ ⲉϥⲙⲏⲣ ⲛⲛⲉϥⲟⲩⲉⲣⲏⲧⲉ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉϥϭⲓϫ ϩⲛ ϩⲉⲛⲕⲉⲣⲉⲁ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲣⲉⲡⲉϥϩⲟ ⲙⲏⲣ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲥⲟⲩⲇⲁⲣⲓⲟⲛ ⲡⲉϫⲉ ⲓⲥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲃⲟⲗϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲕⲁⲁϥ ⲛϥⲃⲱⲕ
He who was dead came out, bound hand and foot with wrappings, and his face was wrapped around with a cloth. Yeshua said to them, “Free him, and let him go.”
45 ⲙ̅ⲉ̅ ⲟⲩⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩⲉⲓ ϣⲁ ⲙⲁⲣⲓⲁ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲟⲩⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲁⲁϥ ⲁⲩⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ
Therefore many of the Judeans who came to Miriam and saw what Yeshua did believed in him.
46 ⲙ̅ⲋ̅ ϩⲟⲓⲛⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲃⲱⲕ ϣⲁ ⲛⲉⲫⲁⲣⲓⲥⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲧⲁⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲛⲉⲛⲧⲁⲓⲥ ⲁⲁⲩ
But some of them went away to the Pharisees and told them the things which Yeshua had done.
47 ⲙ̅ⲍ̅ ⲛⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ϭⲉ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲫⲁⲣⲓⲥⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲥⲱⲟⲩϩ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲙⲡⲥⲩⲛϩⲉⲇⲣⲓⲟⲛ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲛⲁⲁⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲓⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲣ ϩⲁϩ ⲙⲙⲁⲓⲛ
The chief priests therefore and the Pharisees gathered a council, and said, “What are we doing? For this man does many signs.
48 ⲙ̅ⲏ̅ ⲉⲛϣⲁⲕⲁⲁϥ ⲛⲧⲉⲓϩⲉ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲛⲁⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲥⲉⲉⲓ ⲛϭⲓ ⲛⲉϩⲣⲱⲙⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲛⲥⲉϥⲓ ⲛⲧⲟⲟⲧⲛ ⲙⲡⲉⲛⲙⲁ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲛϩⲉⲑⲛⲟⲥ
If we leave him alone like this, everyone will believe in him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.”
49 ⲙ̅ⲑ̅ ⲟⲩⲁ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ⲕⲁⲓⲫⲁⲥ ⲉⲡⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲡⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲟⲙⲡⲉ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲱⲧⲛ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲛ ⲛⲗⲁⲁⲩ
But a certain one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all,
50 ⲛ̅ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲗⲟⲅⲓⲍⲉ ⲁⲛ ϫⲉ ⲥⲣⲛⲟϥⲣⲉ ⲛⲁⲛ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲣⲉⲟⲩⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲛⲟⲩⲱⲧ ⲙⲟⲩ ϩⲁ ⲡⲗⲁⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲙⲡϩⲉⲑⲛⲟⲥ ⲧⲏⲣϥ ϩⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ
nor do you consider that it is advantageous for us that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation not perish.”
51 ⲛ̅ⲁ̅ ⲛⲧⲁϥϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲛ ϩⲁⲣⲟϥ ⲙⲙⲁⲩⲁⲁϥ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲉⲡⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲡⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲟⲙⲡⲉ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲁϥⲡⲣⲟⲫⲏⲧⲉⲩⲉ ϫⲉ ⲛⲉⲣⲉⲓⲥ ⲛⲁⲙⲟⲩ ϩⲁ ⲡϩⲉⲑⲛⲟⲥ
Now he didn’t say this of himself, but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Yeshua would die for the nation,
52 ⲛ̅ⲃ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ϩⲁ ⲡϩⲉⲑⲛⲟⲥ ⲁⲛ ⲙⲙⲁⲧⲉ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲟⲛ ⲛϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲧϫⲟⲟⲣⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲉϥⲉⲥⲟⲟⲩϩⲟⲩ ⲉⲩⲙⲁ ⲛⲟⲩⲱⲧ
and not for the nation only, but that he might also gather together into one the children of God who are scattered abroad.
53 ⲛ̅ⲅ̅ ϫⲓⲛ ⲡⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ϭⲉ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲁⲩϫⲓϣⲟϫⲛⲉ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲩⲉⲙⲟⲩⲟⲩⲧ ⲙⲙⲟϥ
So from that day forward they took counsel that they might put him to death.
54 ⲛ̅ⲇ̅ ⲓⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉϥⲙⲟⲟϣⲉ ϭⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲁⲣⲣⲏⲥⲓⲁ ϩⲛ ⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲁϥⲃⲱⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ ⲡⲙⲁ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲉⲧⲉⲭⲱⲣⲁ ⲉⲧϩⲏⲛ ⲉⲧⲉⲣⲏⲙⲟⲥ ⲉⲩⲡⲟⲗⲓⲥ ⲉⲩⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲉⲫⲣⲁⲓⲙ ⲁϥϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉϥⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ
Yeshua therefore walked no more openly amongst the Judeans, but departed from there into the country near the wilderness, to a city called Ephraim. He stayed there with his disciples.
55 ⲛ̅ⲉ̅ ⲛⲉϥϩⲏⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡⲡⲁⲥⲭⲁ ⲛⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉⲑⲓⲉⲣⲟⲩⲥⲁⲗⲏⲙ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲧⲉⲭⲱⲣⲁ ϩⲁ ⲑⲏ ⲙⲡⲡⲁⲥⲭⲁ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲩⲉⲧⲃⲃⲟⲟⲩ
Now the Passover in Judea was at hand. Many went up from the country to Jerusalem before the Passover, to purify themselves.
