1 O kamite ho, kathuhil hi ngaiyun. Kathusei a hin nakol’u hinsungun,
[A contemplation by Asaph.] Hear my teaching, my people. Turn your ears to the words of my mouth.
2 ajeh chu keiman thulem a nahenga thu kaseiding ahi, keiman achesa thilsoh ho-a kon a kahin hilding nahi,
I will open my mouth in a parable. I will utter dark sayings since the beginning of the world,
3 eihon thusim ijahsa houleh ihetsahou, thusim ipu ipateuva kon a hung kiseilhapeh ho ahi.
which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.
4 Eihon hiche thutah hohi icha inaoteu i-impeh loudiu, Pakai natoh loupi tahtah hohi, athaneinale akidanna hohi ikhangthah houhi iseipehdiu ahi.
We will not hide them from their descendants, telling to the generation to come the praises of Jehovah, his strength, and his wondrous works that he has done.
5 Ajeh chu Aman Jocob kom a daan anapeh-a, Israel kom a thuhil ho anapeh ahi. Aman ipu ipateu atu achateu ahil diuva thupeh anapeh ahin,
For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a teaching in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children;
6 hitia chu ahunglhung ding khangthah ten ahet nadiuleh ahung pengloulai chapang ho dinga, chuleh aman amaho chapangte ahilsonna diuva ahi.
that the generation to come might know it, the children yet unborn, and arise and tell their children,
7 Hitia chu khangthah ahunglhun channa Pathen a kinepna thah aneisah nadiu, Pakai natoh kidang thil loupi hochu asuhmillou nadiu chuleh athupehho anitjing nadiuva ahiljing diu ahi.
that they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments,
8 Hiteng chuleh ipi iputeu tobang talou a lungtahna, kiphinna, kitahlouna Pathen a alungthim’u pehnom louna anei lou diu ahitai.
and might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that did not make their hearts loyal, whose spirit was not steadfast with God.
9 Ephraim galsat hon thalchang akipoh vangun akinung hei un galmun a konin ajam tauve.
The people of Ephraim, being armed and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.
10 Amahon Pathentoh akitepnau ajuitapouvin ama thuhil dinpi ding anom tapouvin ahi.
They did not keep God's covenant, and refused to walk by his Law.
11 Pathen in ipi abolpeh uham thil kidangtah tah anabol hochu,
They forgot his doings, his wondrous works that he had shown them.
12 napu napateu dinga thil kidang anatohdoh ho, Egypt gamsungle Zoan phaicham chunga, atohdohho asumil tauvin ahi.
He did marvelous things in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.
13 Ajeh chu Aman twikhanglen ana homkhen in twi chu bang bangin akikhangin amaho anapui galkaiyun ahi.
He split the sea, and caused them to pass through. He made the waters stand as a heap.
14 Sunleh meilhang in anapuijin, janleh meikong in anapuijin ahi.
In the daytime he also led them with a cloud, and all night with a light of fire.
15 Aman gamthip gamm a songpia kon in adondiu twi anaputdoh sah-in ahi.
He split rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink abundantly as out of the depths.
16 Aman songpia konna twi chu vadung bangin analondohsah in ahi.
He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers.
17 Ahijeng vang'in neldi gam achun amahon chonset anabol’un hatchungnung dounan ana kiphin’un ahi.
Yet they still went on to sin against him, to rebel against the Most High in the desert.
18 Amahon alungsung uchu lungtahna neipumin Pathen ana patep un nehding anathumun ahi.
They tempted God in their heart by asking food according to their desire.
19 Amahon Pathen Amatah dounan thu anaseiyun “Pathen in gamthip gammah an eipejou pouve” atiuve.
Yes, they spoke against God. They said, "Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?
20 Henge, song chu ajep’un twi chu aputdoh nai, ahinla amite changlhah le sa me eipejou pouve” atiuve.
Look, he struck the rock, so that waters gushed out, and streams overflowed. Can he give bread also? Will he provide flesh for his people?"
21 Pathennin hichehi ajahdoh phatnin alunghang lheh jengin, Jacob dounan alunghanna mei akoudoh jengin ahi! Hitihin Israel douna alung hanna ahung koudoh jengin ahi,
Therefore Jehovah heard, and was angry. A fire was kindled against Jacob, anger also went up against Israel,
22 ajeh chu amahon Pathen atahsanpouvin chuleh amaho akhoukhah diuvin jong ana tahsan pouvin ahi.
because they did not believe in God, and did not trust in his salvation.
23 Pathen in chungleng vanthamjol thu apen vankot jouse jong ahongdoh in,
Yet he commanded the clouds above, and opened the doors of heaven.
24 Aman aneh dingun van'a konin Mana gojuh in ahinjuhlhahsah in van changlhah chu ahinpen ahi.
He rained down manna on them to eat, and gave them bread from heaven.
25 Amahon vantil buchu aneuvin, Pathen in alungna chimsetnun apen ahi.
Man ate the bread of the mighty ones. He sent them food to the full.
26 Aman solam huichu ahin nunsah in, Athahatnan lhanglang huijong anunsah in ahi.
He caused the east wind to blow in the sky. By his power he guided the south wind.
27 Aman aneh dingun sachu vutdijat ahin juhlhah sahin, vacha ho chu twikhanglen panga neldi jat ahin,
He rained also flesh on them as the dust; winged birds as the sand of the seas.
28 Aman vacha ho chu aponbuh sungu leh avel uvah ahin lenlhah sah in ahi.
He let it fall in the midst of his camp, all around his tent.
29 Amahon iovasetin aneuvin ahi. Angaichat dungjuitah in apen ahi.
So they ate, and were well filled. He gave them their own desire.
30 Hinla amahon angaichat dungjuija anehva masangu, akamsung uva sa aumpet jeng jong chun,
They did not turn from their cravings. Their food was yet in their mouths,
31 Pathen lunghana achung uvah ahunglhungtan ahileh Aman alah uva ahatpen pen hochu athat tan ahi. Israel khangthah anasapen hochu athat gamtan ahi.
when the anger of God went up against them, killed some of the fattest of them, and struck down the young men of Israel.
32 Ahijeng vang'in mipiho chun chonset aboljom jingun ahi, thilkidang ijat abol vang'in atahsan dehpouvin ahi.
For all this they still sinned, and did not believe in his wondrous works.
33 Hiti chun ahinkhou chu lhuhkam na ahitan akum khouchu kichatnan adimtai.
Therefore he consumed their days in vanity, and their years in terror.
34 Pathen in amaho ahin thapat phatnun amahon ajona langin Amachu ahin holtauvin ahi. Kisihna ahin neitauvin Pathen ahin holtauvin ahi.
When he killed them, then they inquired after him. They returned and sought God earnestly.
35 Hiti chun Pathen chu asongpiu ahi chuleh Pathen chu hatchungnung le ahuhhing pao ahi ahin geldoh tauvin ahi.
They remembered that God was their rock, the Most High God, their redeemer.
36 Ahijeng vang'in hichu kamnal a anaseijiu ahibouvin alei u mangchan jou anaseiyun ahi.
But they flattered him with their mouth, and lied to him with their tongue.
37 Alung sungu chu Pathen a ana petheng pouvin Pathentoh anakitep nauva jong ana dingdet pouvin ahi.
For their heart was not right with him, neither were they faithful in his covenant.
38 Hinla lungsetna dim Pathen chun achonsetnau anangai damun amahochu ana sumang deh pouvin ahi. Phat atamjon alunghanna anatuh tangin hiche bangchun ima anatongdohpon ahi.
But he, being merciful, forgave iniquity, and did not destroy them. Yes, many times he turned his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.
39 Tahsa mihembep ahiuve ti ahejingin, hui anun leh heikhat kahbou ahin ahung kiletapoi ti ageldoh in ahi.
He remembered that they were but flesh, a wind that passes away, and doesn't come again.
40 Gamthip sunga ijatvei Ama douna ana kiphin jengu chuleh alungsung anatsah vang'in,
How often they rebelled against him in the wilderness, and grieved him in the desert.
41 Avel vel in Pathen thohhat nachu apatep jiuvin Israel Pathen chu asulunghang jiuvin ahi.
They turned again and tempted God, and gave pain to the Holy One of Israel.
42 Amahon athahatna agalmi houva kon a anahuhdoh u hitam ageldoh joutapouve.
They did not remember his hand, nor the day when he redeemed them from the adversary;
43 Egypt gamsunga thil kidang ijat abolu hitam chuleh Zoan phaicham a athil kidang bol hochu ageldoh tapouvin ahi.
how he set his signs in Egypt, his wonders in the field of Zoan,
44 Vadung ho thisan asosah a don mohella alha, vadung twi donmo hella alha jengchu.
he turned their rivers into blood, and their streams, so that they could not drink.
45 Pathen in amaho lah a thousi vaibong alansah a uphohte alansah a anehgam ujong ahepha tapouve.
He sent among them swarms of flies, which devoured them; and frogs, which destroyed them.
46 Aman achang jouseu khongbai aneh gamsah in alousoh jouseu jong khaokhopi anehgam sah e.
He gave also their increase to the caterpillar, and their labor to the locust.
47 Aengpithei jouseu gel avohlhah sah sohkei in, atheipiu phung jouseu jong daibang athagamsah in ahi.
He destroyed their vines with hail, their sycamore fig trees with frost.
48 Agancha jouseu gel lah a dalhah in aumsah in, akelngoi houjong keh alhah lihsah sohtai.
He gave over their livestock also to the hail, and their flocks to hot thunderbolts.
49 Achung'uva nasatah in alunghangin, alung dammona alung hanna, mi sumang vantil hon tamtah alhahkhum tan ahi.
He threw on them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, indignation, and trouble, and a band of destroying angels.
50 Aman alunghanna achung uvah achuh sahtan, Egypt mite hinkho anahing hoipon, amangthah gamtan ahi,
He made a path for his anger. He did not spare their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence,
51 Egypt insunga achapa tahpen cheh athat in Egypt gamsung pumpia khangdongte pahcha amolsahtai.
and struck all the firstborn in Egypt, the chief of their strength in the tents of Ham.
52 Hinla Aman amite chu kelngoi honbangin apuiyin gamthip noija bitkei in apui galkai tan ahi.
But he led forth his own people like sheep, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock.
53 Aman mongtahin apuilen hijeh chun amahon kichatna aneipouve, chujongleh twikhanglen in agalteu alhoh mangpeh gamtai.
He led them safely, so that they weren't afraid, but the sea overwhelmed their enemies.
54 Amaho chu Pathen in agamtheng abanjetna atundoh, molsang vum achun ahin puilut in,
He brought them to the border of his sanctuary, to this mountain, which his right hand had taken.
55 Amaho masangah namtin vaipi adelmang peh sohkeiyin, abonchauvin achan dingu gam ahoppeh chehin, Israel phung namtin abonchauvin ama ama ponbuh cheh a achensah tai.
He also drove out the nations before them, allotted them for an inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.
56 Ahijeng vang'in amahon hatchungnung Pathen dounan thil abol jingun athupeh ho khatcha anitpeh pouvin ahi.
Yet they tempted and rebelled against the Most High God, and did not keep his testimonies;
57 Apu apateu bangin avah mang-uvin jou jengin na atonguvin ahi. Amahoa chu thalpi janglou bangin akitah pouvin ahi.
but turned back, and dealt treacherously like their fathers. They were turned aside like a deceitful bow.
58 Amahon pathen dangho doiphung aphutdoh un Pathen alunghan sah uvin, chuleh semthu pathen ahoujeh-un Pathen athangthip sahtauvin ahi.
For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their engraved images.
59 Pathen in ajahdoh phat in hatah’in alunghangin Israel chu pumpai in apaimangtan ahi.
When God heard this, he was angry, and greatly abhorred Israel;
60 Pathen in Shiloh achenna mun adalhan mihemte lah a aumna ponbuh chu adalhatai.
So that he forsook the tabernacle at Shiloh, the tent where he dwelt among men;
61 Aman aloupina le athaneina hetna kitepna thingkong chu galmiho khutna apehdohtan ahi.
and delivered his strength into captivity, his glory into the adversary's hand.
62 Ama amite chunga alunghan jeh-in agalmiteu athasah gamtan ahi.
He also gave his people over to the sword, and was angry with his inheritance.
63 Gollhangho galah athigam tauvin, nungah ho akichenpidiu aumtapon ahi.
Fire devoured their young men. Their virgins had no wedding song.
64 Thempute athat gamtauvin ameithai houvin alhasetpi thei tapouvin ahi.
Their priests fell by the sword, and their widows couldn't weep.
65 Ajonan Pakai chu a-ihmua ahung khangdoh bangin ahung thoudoh in mihatpa jun akiltildoh bangin ahung kitildohin,
Then the Lord awakened as one out of sleep, like a mighty man who shouts by reason of wine.
66 Galmi hochu anungno in a-itiha ding jumna atosah tan ahi.
He struck his adversaries backward. He made them a permanent shame.
67 Ahinla Joseph chilhah hochu apaidohin, chuleh Ephraim phung chu alheng tapon ahi.
Moreover he rejected the tent of Joseph, and did not choose the tribe of Ephraim,
68 Aman akhellin Judah leh angailut Zion molchu alhengin,
But chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion which he loved.
69 hichea chun vanho san banga sang, leiset banga chah a-itih a umjing dingin houin khat atungdoh tan ahi.
He built his sanctuary like the heights, like the earth which he has established forever.
70 Aman asohpa David chu akelngoi chinna a kon in anakoudoh’in analheng tan ahi.
He also chose David his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds;
71 Aman kelngoipi le anou achin laijin akoudoh’in amite Israel Jacob chilhah hochu kelngoi chinna ching dingin anapansah tan ahi.
from following the ewes that have their young, he brought him to be the shepherd of Jacob his servant, and Israel his inheritance.
72 David in amaho chu lungtheng tah leh chingtheitah in analamkaiyin ahi.
So he was their shepherd according to the integrity of his heart, and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.
