< Thuchihbu 5 >

1 Kachapa, kachihna hi khohsah inlang ka thumop hi phaten ngaijin. Kathil hetkhen theina hi phatea nakol sunga nangai ding ahi.
[My] son, attend to my wisdom, and apply thine ear to my words;
2 Ajeh chu thil hetkhen theina neijin natin, nakam sung jenga jong hetthemna umjing ding ahi.
that thou mayest keep good understanding, and the discretion of my lips gives thee a charge. Give no heed to a worthless woman;
3 Numei jong ho lei-chu khoiju lhumma lhum ding, athusei chan-u thao kinu sanga jolji ahi.
for honey drops from the lips of a harlot, who for a season pleases thy palate:
4 Hinlah achaina chu gu-banga khajia, chule hemto chemjam banga hemji ahi.
but afterwards thou wilt find her more bitter than gall, and sharper than a two-edged sword.
5 Akeng tenin thina’a apui lutjia, noimi gam chan’a chelut ding ahi. (Sheol h7585)
For the feet of folly lead those who deal with her down to the grave with death; and her steps are not established. (Sheol h7585)
6 Hitobang numei hin hinna lampi anahsah jipon, achena tinchang anoh phah jin, amanun-la akihet doh jipon ahi.
For she goes not upon the paths of life; but her ways are slippery, and not easily known.
7 Hijeh chun tun kachapa teho kasei ngaijun, kahilna thuchang hoakon hin jammang ding go hih beh un.
Now then, [my] son, hear me, and make not my words of none effect.
8 Hiche numeinua kon khun kidalseu vin, akotpi phung lam’a jong chenai ding go hih beh un.
Remove thy way far from her; draw not near to the doors of her house:
9 Hitia chu nabol lou ule, mihoa kon jabolna nachan lou ding, nahin kho sunga min nakhoto thei lou ding ahi.
lest thou give away thy life to others, and thy substance to the merciless:
10 Hetkhah lou mihon nahatna le nahaona aboncha a-luo diu, natohga jouse jong michom beh in a-luo ding ahi.
lest strangers be filled with thy strength, and thy labours come into the houses of strangers;
11 Na hinkho ajona lam teng gim hesoh nato ding, natahsa pumpi manthahna aso diu ahi.
And thou repent at last, when the flesh of thy body is consumed,
12 Chuteng nangin seijin natin, “Kigah chahna hi ichan-a kana thet a, phosalna hi iti kana thet hitam?
and thou shalt say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart avoided reproofs!
13 Keiman eihil ho thu kana donse pon, ka dinga thusei ho jeng jong kana donse tapoi.
I heard not the voice of him that instructed me, and taught me, neither did I apply mine ear.
14 Tuhin mipi kikhopna’a kon keima mah thahna mun kalhun kon ahitai, tia nasei ding ahi.”
I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.
15 Nangma twikhuh’a kon hung potdoh twi chu kidon jeng tan.
Drink waters out of thine own vessels, and out of thine own springing wells.
16 Na twikhuh dunga twi put chu muntin’a hetdoh-a um’a chule kholai tinchanga um mong ding hinam?
Let not waters out of thy fountain be spilt by thee, but let thy waters go into thy streets.
17 Hichu nanga ding bouvin koijin, nakom’a hung maljin vang nachan sah lou ding ahi.
Let them be only thine own, and let no stranger partake with thee.
18 Na twikhuh chu phatthei chang tahen, nangma tah jong nasenji chunga kipah tan.
Let thy fountain of water be [truly] thine own; and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.
19 Na deitah na jinu sajuh golpai hoitah le sajuh chal hoitah bang in, phattin in aman nahebolna nachunga lhung jing hen, amanu anglum jal’a kipah jing nahin, aman natuh chah jing hi nalungset phot chetna ahi.
Let [thy] loving hart and thy graceful colt company with thee, and let her be considered thine own, and be with thee at all times; for ravished with her love thou shalt be greatly increased.
20 Kachapa, i-atileh numei chon chavei chu naki ngaipi jing a, hitobang numei kampao phalou chu a-anglum’a um ding nagot jing ham?
Be not intimate with a strange woman, neither fold thyself in the arms of a woman not thine own.
21 Ajeh chu Pakai hi mihem lam lhah jouse ve-jing ahin, alam lhah na jouse avet-jing ahi.
For the ways of a man are before the eyes of God, and he looks on all his paths.
22 Miphalou chu a chondih lounan akipalsah teijin, a chonsetna chun atuh chahji ahitai.
Iniquities ensnare a man, and every one is bound in the chains of his own sins.
23 Ama chu kigah chana beija thina chang ding, angol-ga chun manthahna asoji ahi.
Such a man dies with the uninstructed; and he is cast forth from the abundance of his own substance, and has perished through folly.
