< Joel 1 >

1 Pakaiyin hiche thuhi Pethuel chapa Joel henga anasei ahi.
This is the word of the LORD that came to Joel son of Pethuel:
2 Hiche thuhi ngaijun, nangho mipite chunga lamkaihon ngaijun, gamsung’a cheng jousen, Na thusimuva hitobang hi sohkha mong nam?
Hear this, O elders; and give ear, all who dwell in the land. Has anything like this ever happened in your days or in the days of your fathers?
3 Hitobang thu hunglhung ding hi nachateu henga seipeh’un, chule nachateuvin jong achateu heng’a aseipeh son dingu ahi. Thusim hi akhang akhanga kiseipeh son peh ding ahi.
Tell it to your children; let your children tell it to their children, and their children to the next generation.
4 Khaokhopin anche louhing aneh jouvin, amoh cheng Khaokhopi chom dangin anekit in, abankit in jong khaokho danghon anen akichainan jong khaokhopi chom khat in anekit in ahi.
What the devouring locust has left, the swarming locust has eaten; what the swarming locust has left, the young locust has eaten; and what the young locust has left, the destroying locust has eaten.
5 Khangun, nangho jukham ho, chuleh kapun, na kamsunguva ju lhumkei akisuh mong jeh'in, judon hat jouse kap sohkeijun.
Wake up, you drunkards, and weep; wail, all you drinkers of wine, because of the sweet wine, for it has been cut off from your mouth.
6 Ka galmite simsen lou gal sat dingin kagam sunga ahung kitollut tan ahi, hattah ahiuvin, atam dan ajat jong simsenlou ahiuvin, aha-ujong ahemdan keipi bahkai ha abangin ahi.
For a nation has invaded My land, powerful and without number; its teeth are the teeth of a lion, and its fangs are the fangs of a lioness.
7 Ka lengpi lei le ka theichang phung jouse jong eisuh gampeh tauvin ahi, abahgeijin amalngimun agolhasoh heltan tai.
It has laid waste My grapevine and splintered My fig tree. It has stripped off the bark and thrown it away; the branches have turned white.
8 Avoma kijem nungah jinei joutil kabangin,
Wail like a virgin dressed in sackcloth, grieving for the husband of her youth.
9 Pakai Houin sunga lhosoh leh Lengpiga thilto hojong abeisohtan, hijeh chun Pakai Thempu kin bolla pang lhacha ho jong alunghem gamtauvin ahi, chuleh Pakai Thempuho jong akaptauve.
Grain and drink offerings have been cut off from the house of the LORD; the priests are in mourning, those who minister before the LORD.
10 Loulai jouse jong aki sugamsohin, gamsung jong abeitai, gasoh jouse jong aki sumong sohtan, lengpithei jong aga tapon chuleh olive thao jong akichai gam tai.
The field is ruined; the land mourns. For the grain is destroyed, the new wine is dried up, and the oil fails.
11 Vo loulhouho kinepna beijin lunglhauvin, Vo lengpilei lhouho, puldouvun Kapun, ajeh chu loulaija gasoh suhlouchang leh sakol chang abeitah jeh'in,
Be dismayed, O farmers, wail, O vinedressers, over the wheat and barley, because the harvest of the field has perished.
12 Lengpigui agop tan chuleh theichang phung agop lhatan, kolbuthei phung, tum phung chuleh theithup phung, chule thingga phung jouse agop lhasoh tan, mijouse kipana jong agop lhasohtan ahi.
The grapevine is dried up, and the fig tree is withered; the pomegranate, palm, and apple— all the trees of the orchard—are withered. Surely the joy of mankind has dried up.
13 Nangho thempuho jousen khaodip pon sillin kivonun lang, Pakai kinbol Jousen jan teng maicham phunga hungun, kap’un, ajeh chu na Pathen Hou-in a na lhosoh thilto ding leh lengpitwi thilto ding abeisohtan ahi.
Put on sackcloth and lament, O priests; wail, O ministers of the altar. Come, spend the night in sackcloth, O ministers of my God, because the grain and drink offerings are withheld from the house of your God.
14 An ngolding phongdoh un, Pakai Hou-in sung leh gamsung a mipite lultahin kou khomun, gamsunga lamkaiho jouse koukhomun, chuleh hichea chun kap jahuvin.
Consecrate a fast; proclaim a solemn assembly! Gather the elders and all the residents of the land to the house of the LORD your God, and cry out to the LORD.
15 Pakai nikho ahung naitai, Pakai hatchungnunga konin manthahna nikho chu ahung lhung’e.
Alas for the day! For the Day of the LORD is near, and it will come as destruction from the Almighty.
16 Eima ho mitmu taha inehdiu kisumong hilou hija, I-Pathen’u hou-in a kona kipa leh thanopna jouse beisoh hilou ham?
Has not the food been cut off before our very eyes— joy and gladness from the house of our God?
17 Leinoiya muchi kituho akihul gosoh tan, thil kikholna in jouse jong akeovin aum soh tai.
The seeds lie shriveled beneath the clods; the storehouses are in ruins; the granaries are broken down, for the grain has withered away.
18 Gam laha gamsa jousen jong itobang taha kel athoh’u hitam! In'a kivah gancha ho jong alung dong gam tauve. Anehdiu abeisoh phatin, kelcha leh kelngoite ho jong alungdong gamtauve.
How the cattle groan! The herds wander in confusion because they have no pasture. Even the flocks of sheep are suffering.
19 Pakai nei kithopiuvin! Gamsunga hamdon jouse jong meiyin akagop sohtan, Thingphung jouse jong meikongin aleogop soh tai.
To You, O LORD, I call, for fire has consumed the open pastures and flames have scorched all the trees of the field.
20 Gamlaha gamsa ho jeng jong na henga apeng tauve, ajeh chu vadung jouse jong akang gamtan, gamlah-a hamdon jouse jong meiyin akagop gam tai.
Even the beasts of the field pant for You, for the streams of water have dried up, and fire has consumed the open pastures.
